#1 Whom?

I am not Evan and he is not me,
but we are us, and he's seventeen.

#2 Moonlight
Prelude:

Night, blankets the air,
Once oh so fearsome and cruel,
But now I see beauty,

In the soft shades of its moonlight.

I walk alone, upon the grass,
The dew soaks my soft bare feet,
Gray shades framed by formless mass,
A world of shadow and concrete,

But the sky is yet untouched by this,
The Stars come gazing down,
And watch our world through child's bliss,
No care to cause a frown,

In the soft shades of it's moonlight,
We lift up our eyes and pray,
The the angels guard us in their flight,
Vanguard till break of day.

#3 Don't ever become...

Master: Don't ever become like me, my student,
There is nothing to learn from here,
I harbor darkness in my black heart,
Please, leave alone to my fear,

Student: I will not leave you, master
My will is stout and clear,
I won't abandon you till the end,
When life and love aren't here.

Master: Why so diligent, my pupil?
What stays your hand from truth?
You know I am a wretched man,
And hold no innocence like your youth,

Student: I learned my art, my master,
From the mouth the bids me loose,
I will not leave your wounded side,
Or forsake you and your truth.

Master: I am a sinner, young one,
I would not trust my will,
For I am naught but trouble,
A cliff upon the hill,

Student: We are alike, my teacher,
You taught and teach me still,
But I will teach you this time,
As I will live, you will.

I do not hate you, father
For leading me astray,
I found I had to learn my own,
To find a another way.

Rebirth is not as easy,
As staying to your path,
But once sought out it frees you,
And past grievance flees like chaff,

You are no more a perfect man,
Than me or any other,
And someday you will leave this earth,
So prepare for then, my brother.

#4 Daffodils and Roses

Daffodils are proud,
as they beam out to the sun,
Roses are humble,
Sharing shade with anyone,

Daffodils are early,
They come charging to the spring,
Roses are patient,
Taking their time with everything,

Daffodils are uniform
They form a yellow wall,
Roses come in different shades,
Forming red-white lattice halls,

Daffodils are survivors,
No Gopher dares their stalk,
Roses live in peril,
A deers snack on evening walk,

Daffodils are lonesome,
Their friends leave one by one,
Good gardeners, let roses live,
To keep Daffodils company in the sun.

#5 Dance of Aerilún, composed for Anderas Gamberot (Translated from Shônrot the tongue of the Amiroth)

Rasta monrin, anderas,
Kôthin sorémul,
Ganra mosné panderath
Donri sor themúl

Dance faster, undying flame,
Come once more to me,
Uplift all the unfortunate,
Hear laughter of me from this place,

Rasta, soro farethíl,
Sé janta rémenol,
Andyro melo soroníl,
Andyro Gonkén veyfol.

Dance, my beloved flower,
I want your unfailing remedy,
Never leave my embrace,
Never die or fail,

#6 What has brought us to this Desolate place?(Inspired by Star Wars Battlefront, Rhen Var, which is property of Lucas Arts)

What has brought us to this desolate place?
When will we see the enemy's face?
From cold to damp, from damp to arid,
We find the place their evil scarred,

What has brought us to this desolate place?
When, at last, will we wield shield and mace?
We press on to frozen height,
Where we witness the enemy's might,

What has brought us to this desolate place?
Who, in the end, will set the pace?
When we enter, we feel we are lost,
Yet we fight them amongst the frost,

What has brought us to this desolate palace?
What has brought about such fear and malice?
We raise our weapons, they raise their hands,
And the chase is done through the desolate lands.

What has changed this desolate place?
What has, once again, revealed its true face?
We were safe through perilous flight,
And now I realize, and thank the light.

The Morals

#7 (I) Valor
Sword of might,
Warrior of light,
Fiend of Earth,
Dark rage's smite,

Stand your ground,
Don't fail your friends,
A courageous heart's bounds,
know no end.

Lufenians' laugh is dead and gone,
Four Fiends leave life in disarray,
But light comes softly, like the sun,
Warriors lift blades, and claim the day!

#8 (II) Dreams
To the ends of the earth,
Our dreams shall roam,
Like wild roses,
Beginning to bloom.

Though we be vagrants,
Our roots grow deep,
We won't give up,
We awake from sleep,

Mastery of others,
An emperor's whim,
But people need dreams,
And dreams will stop him.

So dream deep, my brother,
Dark knight or no,
We will awake someday,
And dawnwards we'll go.

#9 (III) Youth
In weakness, lies strength,
In wonder, lies power,
The young will take wing,
And grow in this hour,

An onion is layered,
From the heart to its skin,
And each layer gives way,
To new power within,

Thus don't be discouraged,
For though you are young,
Your growth will be great,
When our battles are won.

#10 (IV) Balance
Race ahead with swiftness?
Or Stalwart as we go?
Get it done with Fire?
Or heal and take it slow?

Get them all in the day?
Or use the cover of Night?
Ride safely on a noble steed?
Or gain experience with every fight?

Buy new armor for a fortune?
Or medicine for much less?
Fight with darkness in your heart?
Or defend others through the mess?

Balance is the key here,
Moon and Earth, Shield and Blade,
But it would all be so much easier,
If Dark were never made...

#11 (V) Legacy
Wind is so inquisitive,
It looks the world round,
Earth is quite Imperative,
And in darkest day is sound,
Fire is for the strong,
It carves out its own path,
Water shall right what's wrong,
Healing world and wrath.

The breezes blow for ages,
Searching every nook,
The Earth is home for sages,
writers of every book,
Fire fuels progress,
Machines and steam, behold!
Water feeds the heedless,
And protects its natural hold.

The wind is quiet now,
Taking up his father's blade,
The Earth begins to bend and bow,
Beginning and ending, life and grave,
Fire crackles brightly then,
Fiesty, unique, and brave,
Water washes calmly when,
Men learn its art to save.

#12 (VI) Hope
Half of one, daughter of none,
Esperkin, distraught within,
Thief of heart, master of art,
Old man rambler, carefree gambler,
Lonesome king, Soldiers sing,

One walk, and any walk,
They all are bound to fall,
Building up to fight again,
Living to die one and all.

But Hope shines, life unwinds,
unites their wayward paths,
Love binds men together,
And hope leads hearts from wrath.

Even in destruction,
Hope can again be found,
Do not despair, my loved ones!
Let us hope the whole world round.

#13 (VII) Rebirth
Heroes, are not heroes,
If they do not look within,
Lives cannot be lived,
If they steep themselves in sin,

Fighting will not end,
With the felling of a foe,
Journeys are not over,
If we don't get where to go.

Unless one fights to live again,
One will inevitably die,
Life itself is not what counts,
But to live again with pride.

Men cry not for themselves but for their companions,
-Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

#14 (VIII) Love
What good is war,
if it is not to save?
What good is anger,
if not used to overcome?
What good are the steadfast,
Without one to be faithful for?
What good is pride,
Without one to share it with?
What good is finishing,
If there is no one to finish with?
What good is life,
If there is nothing to love?

#15 (IX) Virtue of Spirit
Do you need a reason,
To help another?
Do you need friend,
To tell you you are true?

Even in the depths of eternity,
Will you stoutly seek your brother?
Even Swearing life and limb,
Will you still stay being you?

Even being forgotten,
Or being so alone,
Know arrogance may blind one,
From what they do not know,

Take the blessings life gives you,
Smile and take delight,
But never stop being yourself,
Through the thick and tight.

#16 (X) Potential
Ever ask "What if?"
Ever look back,
and wonder what,
Might have happened?

Ever ask "Why?"
Ever look forward,
And just hope,
That it all turns out alright?

The mark of an Ace,
To recognize potential,
And let it grow,
Pushing it beyond the limit,

This is what it means
To be strong.
To look destiny head on,
And laugh because,
you know you are ready,
To grow.

#17 (XI) Teamwork
Fight all alone, and get all the profit,
But Team up with a friend and you're more likely to stop it,
Use your own time, get on when you wish,
But fighting together brings a quick finish.

Go off on your own, and get what you lack,
But with a friend you can watch the other's back,
Solitude brings a stone-hearted view,
But the process of teamwork starts with you.

#18 (XII) Sovereignity
Who is your master?
To whom do you call?
Master and servant,
But servant to all.

Who will you bow to?
Who will you command?
From country to country,
or loyal to land?

Choose your bonds carefully,
For who you may serve,
Might turn out to be evil,
And get what they deserve.
