CHAPTER 1 - The Unfortunately Fortunate Meeting

“I told you, I’m not a rogue!” I cried. I’d been held captive by a pack of werewolves. My hands and feet were tied with a silver chain so I was having a hard time trying to get away from them. How’d they manage to even touch anything made of silver? That, I didn’t know.

I was tied onto a wooden chair. I was in so much pain. My wrists and ankles felt like they were burning from being bounded by the chains. I started feeling dizzy. I was about to pass out any time soon. But I needed to be strong. This shouldn’t be the end for me. I wouldn’t want to die like this. “I’m just here on a vacation,” I added.

“Lies!” said the guy who was standing in front of me, holding something that looked like a stick—just like a wand. A wand? I must be hallucinating already. The silver chains must have gotten into me now. The guy stepped a little closer to me until he was just a feet away. He was tall, maybe about 6feet. He had a tan skin and a muscular physique. He looked like a taller and older version of Taylor Lautner. He stooped down to look at me face to face. He cupped my chin and said, “How many are you?” I turned my head to the side to be released from his grasp and stared at him with hate and disgust without saying anything. He smirked. “Feisty!” he said. I couldn’t tell him I was with my sisters or they’d definitely come for them.

I never thought this would happen to me. Three days ago, I was just on a flight to here—London-- from New York, with my 2 sisters. We came here for a vacation to get away from all the pressures and stress back at home. I’m a wolf, and so are my sisters: Freya, the eldest; and Aya, the youngest. We came from a pack of wolves that lived on top of a mountain, surrounded by a thick and foggy forest. We were only a small pack but we lived with dignity and pride, carrying the name Silver Moon pack. My father was the Alpha. And soon my brother, Micah, would be the next one to lead our small pack.  He’s my twin brother actually. He was supposed to come with us but he got caught up with a lot of responsibilities as the next Alpha. When a son of the Alpha turns 21, he will assume all the rights and responsibilities of the preceding Alpha. And our birthday is just a month away from now so he’s probably busy attending pack meetings and making decisions with our dad.

I couldn’t stand the pain anymore. It was as if my whole body had been burned to death. The pain from my wrists and ankles were actually spreading all over me. Tears fell from my eyes, neutralizing my burning hot skin as it went down my face. Everything started to blur. I couldn’t see clearly the 5 men who abducted me. They were talking among themselves. I couldn’t hear them properly because my wolf senses were lessened by the silver chains. Silver is the werewolves’ Kryptonite. It weakens the power we have, turning us into mere humans, but with a twist. Just a tiny contact with silver would burn our skin, a slow torturous process until we die.

I closed my eyes, about to surrender. I accepted my fate. I was dying—slowly dying. Flashes of what happened the past 3 days came to me, remembering the happy faces of my sisters as we toured all over London. I miss them already. I hope they are fine. They might be worried about me now. I shouldn’t have separated from them. My so adventurous self led me to my death bed. I started to think about my parents. They might have already heard the news that I was missing. It’s been 7 hours since I’ve been abducted. Would someone come to save me? My mind started to wander.

“Hey, are you still alive?” another guy asked and came closer to me. He still looked young. In fact, he was the youngest among the 5 of them. He had a curly blond hair, fair skin and blue eyes. For a wolf, he had a slender body. I looked at him—or more like I stared at him. He then turned away from me to face the others. “She’s not gonna last long. We should take off the chains now.” He sounded worried… or did I hear fear from his voice? I wasn’t sure.

“Are you crazy, Jake? What if she gets away? The Alpha wouldn’t like that”, growled the guy who looked like Taylor Lautner.

“The Alpha wouldn’t like us hurting women either, Luke.”

The guys were already having an argument, forgetting that I was on the verge of dying. I suddenly smelled something weird—a really good kind of weird. It calmed me down for a while. It was getting stronger as seconds went by. My sense of smell had weakened but this scent sure must be really strong for me to be able smell it. I felt a little better. Lavender. Mint. Coffee. Citrus. All those relaxing scents combined. The door burst open. I didn’t have to look at the direction to know that. My head was bowed down. I was too weak to even lift it up. The smell got stronger. It was so overwhelming.

“Where’s the rogue?” someone asked. He must be the one who just came in. He had a husky voice. Honestly, he had a very sexy voice, let alone his hot British accent. Damn! Even in death, I could still be a little----- needy. Ugggh!

“She’s over there, Alpha.”

I heard steps coming towards me. “Who the hell said that you could torture her like this?” the guy with the sexy Brit--- I mean the Alpha growled. Someone should be controlling her hormones right now! Crap!

“But she’s a rogue, Alpha—“  Taylor Lautner’s  look-alike said but got cut in by the Alpha. If I remember correctly, Jake, the other guy, called him Luke.

“Still! Women, rogue or not, are still women!” he was angry. And if I wasn’t mistaken, he was a bit feeling uneasy. I sensed it from his voice… or maybe I was just in deep hallucination. “Rogue, look at me.” he ordered. I tried to raise my head slowly but I failed. I was feeling so dizzy, and this time, it wasn’t from the silver chains. It was from the overpowering scent. “I’m talking to you! Look at me!” he snapped when I hadn’t done what he said. Suddenly, strong hand took a hold of my chin and lifted my face. “I said look at me!” Our eyes met and I felt like I was electrocuted. I felt weird. I felt powerful and weak at the same time. His eyes were as dark as the night. I could see my refection through them. And then it dawned to me that the overwhelming scent came from this guy. This tall, brownish blond-haired, a little fair-skinned guy who was the most handsome man I’ve ever seen. I could look at him all day and never get tired of it.

He released my face from his hold and turned to the other werewolves in the room. I saw something on his face before he faced them. Rage. It was like he was about to kill someone. “How dare you hurt her!” he attacked them. He moved so fast that I couldn’t see anything. All I could see was men thrown to walls and ceiling. I was shocked. I never liked violence. How could an Alpha do that to his own men? The 5 guys were no match to their Alpha. He was about to throw another guy to the wall. I couldn’t take it anymore and shouted, “Stop!” …and he did. He turned to face me. His expression was calmer this time. He dropped the guy to the floor and walked towards me, then behind me. He broke the silver chain binding my wrists. Then went in front of me, stoop down and did the same on the chain around my ankles with his bare hands. How could he touch the silver chains without burning his hands? I was so confused. But nothing more confused me when he hugged me so tight and then carried me like I was his bride. He walked to the door but before we got out, he paused and looked at his pack members whom he just beaten up. They were already recovering a little. “You have no right to hurt her,” he said in a very cold tone. “You should be thankful that I hadn’t killed you after what you did. Go to the pack doctor and let him treat your wounds.”  He then looked at me. His cold expression changed to a soft and worried one. I still was in shock. I wasn’t sure what just happened. Why did he beat his men? Surely it wasn’t just because they hurt a girl. How could he touch the silver chains? Why did he carry me like I was his bride? Why did he look so worried? And why do I feel like my temperature got so high when our skin had contact? I was feeling really weird. And I was guessing he felt weird too. He gripped my right arm tighter as he carried me and it sent shivers all over my body.

I could now feel my wolf inside of me since I was released from the bind. She was feeling happy. I frowned. She was dancing with joy and was purring. Will you stop that? What’s wrong with you? And the answer that I never thought possible to hear from my wolf actually woke me from my confusion. Mate! Mate! He’s our mate!  I gaped, shocked from the realization. This oh so handsome guy with a sexy British accent is my mate! Well, this is news!

“You’re m—“  I stared at the Alpha in disbelief while my arms went around his neck to steady myself. “Yes, Love, I’m your mate.” He cut in and smiled, his eyes turning from black to beautiful emerald green.

And there… the worst day turned out to be the best day of my life—or so I thought.

CHAPTER 2 - Fogotten Night and Stalkers

I woke up with a headache and a searing pain on my wrists and ankles. I checked for where all the pain came from. I saw red marks on both my wrists and ankles. What the hell happened? I looked around and realized I was already in the hotel suite my sisters and I were staying in. How did I get all these painful marks? Last thing I remember, I was walking on a street somewhere here in London… I couldn’t exactly remember where. All I know is that I was looking at the paintings displayed beside the street. I easily get attracted to anything related to Arts. I was staring at a particular painting. It was a spiral black and white painting with a wolf’s head on the center—an attractive wolf with beautiful emerald green eyes.

I paused for a bit. What happened after that? I couldn’t remember anything else. I clambered out of the bed as fast as I could and looked for my sisters. They were already eating breakfast while watching television. “What happened?” I asked as I walk towards them who were on the dining table. I saw their confused faces. “Did we go for a drink last night ‘cause I sure as hell don’t remember anything.” I added and sat down on an empty seat beside Aya.

“What do you mean, Maya? We should be the one to ask you questions.” Freya’s face showed a very worried expression. “Where were you yesterday? You’ve been gone for almost 9 hours.”

I stared at her, completely shocked. It was impossible for me not to remember anything.

“Yeah. We looked for you for hours.” Aya said before putting a spoonful of granola into her mouth. After swallowing it, she continued, “we then decided to go back here, see if you’ve returned, and as we expected, you were already sleeping. We tried to wake you up to ask you what happened to you but you just said you were really tired… so we let you sleep.”

“Did you tell them—Mom and Dad?” I asked. Fear was so clear on my voice now. Where the hell did I go? Why couldn’t I remember anything?

“No. We were about to but then you were back already.” Freya answered. “Don’t you really remember anything?”

“Nada” I shrugged. Still confused and dizzy, I stood up from where I was sitting and head back to the room. “You don’t wanna eat?” Aya turned to my direction, her spoon still on her mouth. Yeah, she’s a little pig. She eats almost anything. I don’t know where she puts all the food though for she has a really slender and small body. She’s already 17 but still with a mind of 12-year old girl. Well, that’s expected since she’s the youngest. My parents love to baby and spoil her a lot.

“I’ve got no appetite,” I said in a tired voice, still walking towards the room. “I’ll just take a shower. Let’s go somewhere fun today. Surely I missed a lot of partying yesterday since I was out doing something I don’t even remember” I joked. I just don’t want them to worry anymore. We are in a vacation for crying out loud! We should be enjoying our stay!

Aside from the red marks though, there was something odd about me. I couldn’t point a finger but I just feel so different. I felt so relaxed. Was I on drugs last night? Oh, great! I hope not or I’ll be damned.

----

We were walking down the streets of London. It was already past 10 in the morning. I sensed something. I’m not sure but I felt like someone’s been following us for awhile now. I’m sure my sisters didn’t notice anything because they were just looking at the shops, chatting and laughing their butt out. Well it was understandable since back at our home, I was considered one of the wolves with sensitive senses. That was why I was placed by my father as one of the pack’s hunters. I was a tracker though, the one who sniffs and listens to my surroundings, since my fighting skills aren’t that good. I mean I’m not as skillful as Freya. She’s got the moves of a professional fighter. But she still maintains a body of a goddess. Well that’s what I call her. You wouldn’t even believe that she could fight like a real man until she shows you. She’s the prettiest among us girls. Aya on the other hand is the smartest. She loves solving problems and making ones. Annoying, that’s her. The exception is Micah. He has everything—sensitive senses, amazing fighting and cognitive skills. It’s expected since he’s the son of the Alpha, the next in line.

“Mai,” Aya calls me that a lot, “what’s wrong?” she asked and licked her strawberry flavored ice cream while Freya just looked at me, waiting for me to speak, her eyebrows shot up. I hadn’t noticed I was already a few feet away from them. I must have stopped walking when I sensed something.

“Nothing. I was just—“ I immediately walked briskly towards them, worried that something might happen. But I don’t want them to be alarmed with this. “Let’s just go. I want to see this place” I said and pointed on a picture on a brochure of places to visit while you’re in London. I smiled, not letting them see my uneasiness. Even my wolf was feeling queasy now. She was shouting and moving inside of me. It’s like she wanted to get out. What’s wrong with you? I couldn’t just transform here anytime as I please. Calm down! I tried talking to her but it worsened. She sensed something too. Now, I’m in a panic. But I tried to hide it while we were walking.

I smelled something. It was a very relaxing aroma—a combination of mint, lavender and… coffee? What’s this? It’s making me feel weird… a good kind of weird, I guess. It’s getting stronger. The scent. It’s coming from behind me. I looked around and saw nothing, no one strange. I walked as fast as I can, catching up with my sisters. But my wolf wants me to go to the opposite direction. Why am I feeling like this? I feel so overwhelmed. Dizzy. Weak. Strong. Happy. Horny? Wait… horny? You’ve got to be kidding me!

My knees were wobbly. The scent is so overpowering! It’s like a drug. I looked again. And there, I found him, the guy who owns the scent. I stared into his eyes. And then it dawned to me. Seconds later, I realized who he was. My Mate. Memories from yesterday returned—the torture, the silver chains, the violent Alpha. My Alpha. My Mate.

“You” I managed to say but it was barely a whisper.

“Come with me.” he said in a calm yet seductive voice. I almost fainted hearing him speak to me. His voice is the most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard. I was lost in the moment. He reached his hand, waiting for me to take it and follow him. I was about to hold it, raising my hand to touch it, when I heard Freya said, “Maya, who is he?”

“M-my M—“ Before I even finish, he spoke.

“I’ll explain later. We have no time. Follow me now.” What’s wrong? He seemed to be in a hurry. Feeling like it was okay to do so, we did as he said. We followed him.  I should trust him. He’s my mate after all. There was a car parked a block away from where we were. He let us in. In the driver’s seat, the boy I recognized from yesterday, Jake was holding the wheel. My mate sat next to him, on the passenger’s seat. I always call him my mate. What’s his name, anyway? I don’t even know my Mate’s name and I’m getting giddy and needy just seeing him.

“What’s exactly going on?” Freya asked, worried.

“Someone’s been following you” my Mate said. “Uhh… yeah, and that someone is you” Aya interrupted, crossing her arms on her chest, slouching beside me on the back seat.

My mate looked at her in annoyance.

“Aya!” I scolded her.

“What? I was just saying—“

“Enough!” I scowled at her. She rolled her eyes but said nothing. I felt someone’s gaze on the side of my face. I saw him, looking at me intently. The electricity is there again. It’s like we’re on our own world. We didn’t see anyone or anything else but us.

“Uhh-erm” Freya cleared her throat. She sensed the fire burning between me and my Mate. I turned away from his gaze, and he then set his eyes on the road. I felt embarrassed of what just happened. I felt my face turned crimson. Hesitant, I glanced to see Freya. She’s staring at me, as if waiting for an explanation. I just shrugged and mouthed the words ‘I don’t know’ to her. Her eyebrow arched and I could easily tell she didn’t believe me. I sighed. “Later” I finally said.

----

We arrived at a place surrounded by trees—big trees. It was just like I was back at our home. There was a big house in front of us. It was like a haunted house. There’s just something creepy about it. We exited the car and looked around for a while. I caught a glimpse of my Mate. He’s just too glorious. I just want to hug him, kiss him, and be with him all the time. Oh, my Mate. Then I furrowed my eyebrows. I still didn’t know his name. I was starting to get annoyed about the fact that my Mate and I don’t know each other’s names. I wanna know his name! “Uhmm…” I started. Everyone looked to where I was, waiting for me to continue, “What’s your name?” I asked, facing my Mate but a little embarrassed.

I heard my sisters huffed. But it was Freya who reacted more “Really, Maya? After a long drive, that’s all you’ve wanted to ask? We followed them here—or we let them bring us here in the middle of nowhere, I don’t even know what they want, and you’re just curious about his name?” she sounded frustrated. Well, I understand her. She has a point. I became more embarrassed now. Uggggh… it got even worse when I saw my Mate smirked.

“Caleb,” he then said, still smirking, “Maya. That’s a great name.” he said my name! He said my name! My wolf is celebrating. She loves hearing his voice. She keeps on purring. His hot British accent and husky voice make me melt. There’s something in the way he says my name. It sends shivers all over my body. I’m sure my face is totally red now. Caleb. My Caleb.

“Caleb,” I managed to say. I saw him flinched from saying his name. Does he like hearing his name as much as I do? “W-why are we here?”

“I’ll explain inside.” He said and gestured to let us in the big house.

We sat on a big old-fashioned couch, facing a large fire place. I let my eyes wander, admiring every detail of the old house. The view is breath-taking but a little creepy. It’s just too old fashioned for me, I guess. But I still appreciate it because of the carvings and old paintings.

“So? Why are we here?” Aya asked in her very annoying voice. I almost want to roll my eyes but someone has to ask the question. We saw an uncomfortable expression from both guys, Caleb and Jake. Caleb gave Jake a look, maybe they were communicating in their minds. Jake then nodded and left us, disappearing from the room.

“You’re in danger.” Caleb said, expressionless.

My eyebrows furrowed, not understanding what he was trying to say. I remembered what happened last night and without thinking, I burst, “Danger you mean, just like being abducted and tortured—“, I stopped when I realized his expression changed from indifference to hurt. I also don’t want to let my sisters know. They’d be so worried and for some reason, I don’t want them to hate Caleb. He did save me after all. Wait. I don’t really remember what happened after that. Yes, he carried me outside of that room, wherever it was, but besides that, there’s nothing more. How did I get back to the hotel? But I brushed all that confusion for now. It isn’t what’s important to this situation. “Please explain why you think we’re in danger.”

He’s back to his expressionless face. “Rogues are after you, just as I suspected. Someone must have found out that you’re my mate and they’re going to use you against me.”

I heard gasps of shock coming from my sisters. They didn’t know that he was my mate. As if scripted, both my sisters scowled at me. I just rolled my eyes and shrugged.

“You should stay with me. You’ll be safe here, just don’t leave my side,” he continued. I almost melted right that moment. My wolf purred. I was happy with the idea but I couldn’t just leave everyone back home and stay with him like I don’t have any other obligations of my own.

“I-I can’t” I said. “I’m just here for a vacation, me and my sisters. Next week, we’re going back to New York. I’m sure the rogues won’t follow us there.”

Caleb surely didn’t like the idea. He looked annoyed and uncomfortable. He was about to say another word but closed his mouth. Is he hiding something? He rubbed his forehead for a bit and finally said, “You must stay here until your vacation ends then. At least let me look out for you.” He looks genuinely worried that it almost crushed me seeing that in his expression. Without second thoughts, I agreed.

CHAPTER 3 - Living Together --- Wrong Choice?

We’ve been arguing for hours with my sisters, particularly Freya. “Maya, we don’t know him. Why did you suddenly agree in staying with that guy?”

“He’s my Mate. I trust him.” I replied, trying to sound convincing.

Freya huffed. “You’ve known him in less than 24 hours! Don’t just trust anyone like that even if he’s your mate!” she was pacing in the living room of our hotel suite. We went back to get our luggage and then check out, while Caleb waited outside of the hotel.

“This is for our safety. What if he was telling the truth?”

“If he’s telling the truth, we can handle ourselves without staying with him. I’m a great fighter, remember?”

“So are we just gonna stand here?” Aya interrupted our conversation, eyebrows arched and arms crossed on her chest. “I agree here with Mai this time, Frey, no offense meant.” Aya agrees with me? Well this doesn’t happen a lot! I have to remember this day! Ha!

“Not you, too, Ai!” Freya cried, frustrated. She put her hands on her head in so much frustration.

“You see, Mates have a different connection. You don’t need to know everything about them before you decide to like that person. In the cases of mating, us werewolves already like our mates from the first time we laid our eyes on them. We feel like we’ve known them for years. We trust them with all our hearts and rest assured that they would never do anything to hurt us. It’s already the law of nature.” Aya explained. I give her 2 thumbs up for that. She definitely is the logical one.

“You’re saying we should do what Caleb asked?” Freya asked. She was already standing beside me, crossing her arms on her chest.

“Yup! It’s better than being with just the 3 of us. If there are a lot of rogues, we’d surely lose to them no matter how skillful you are, Frey. We should trust him because he’s Maya’s mate.” Freya sighed and threw her hands in the air, motioning to accept defeat. I smiled and looked at Aya. “Thank you,” I mouthed to her. She smiled back and shrugged. I’m really thankful that Aya convinced Freya. I don’t want to risk anything. I’m worried of what might happen so it was better to be with Caleb and his pack. His pack—where were they when we went to that haunted house? I only saw Jake. Where were the others? I don’t even know how big their pack is. I sighed. I still don’t know a lot about Caleb. I’ll take this as a chance to get to know him.

------

We arrived on the haunted house again. It’s already 2 in the afternoon and we still hadn’t eaten. My stomach grumbled suddenly and I felt embarrassed. My sisters laughed at me. Caleb just stared at me, amused. Okay, I’m pretty sure I wanna die at this very moment. “I-I’m sorry about that... I hadn’t eaten anything since this morning.” I blushed. Caleb shot me an angry look. What did I do now?

“Let’s go inside. I already asked someone to fix lunch for us.” Caleb said in a cold and demanding voice.

We seated on the long dining table. The food was already prepared. Roasted turkey, vegetable salad and mashed potatoes. The food smells so good. We ate until our stomachs were bloated. Caleb already finished eating before us. He was now talking outside with Jake and another pack member, I don’t know his name. He wasn’t with the 5 men who abducted me either.

I stood up from my seat, trying to stretch my arms and legs. I left the dining hall. Freya and Aya were still there, talking about just anything. I didn’t know what because I wasn’t even paying attention.

I went outside to get some fresh air. I saw Caleb and the 2 guys still talking. It was surely a serious talk and I saw Caleb’s angry expression even if he was almost 20 meters away. He might have sensed that I was standing by the large double doors of the house’s entrance. He looked at my direction then looked to his men and nodded. The 2 men nodded back and went inside the forest, running fast.

I walked towards him. He was already facing me; his face shows no signs of emotion. As I came closer, I could smell him more. Oh I’m so addicted to his heavenly scent. I could smell him all day. After smelling him, I’ll hug him. I’ll touch every inch of his—oh my creepy self! Why am I thinking about these things! Dirty thoughts, get away!

“Are you done eating?” he finally asked when I was only 5 feet away from him.

“Yeah. The food was really great. Thanks.” I replied, trying to be as calm and as composed as I can be. I inhaled, my way of keeping myself calm, but it only got worse. I could smell him. It’s making me uneasy. My wolf already wants to jump onto him and claim him. Crap! No! Behave! I scolded my wolf. She just scowled at me, mad at the idea of me trying to fight the urge of touching him. I closed my eyes and inhaled small amounts of air.

I sensed Caleb’s intense gaze at me. I opened my eyes and looked at him. And there I saw wanting and lust in his eyes. I’m starting to lose myself again. My wolf is howling. She wants him and she wants him now! This is not good. I need to stand my ground. I still have a lot to ask to him. “C-Caleb” I finally managed to say something, stuttering. I saw him flinched. He’s really affected everytime I said his name. His eyes glistened—oh his mesmerizing emerald green eyes. It was like his eyes were saying something—‘I want you’.

“What?” he already recovered from the heated moment between us.

“I was just curious... when I woke up this morning, I couldn’t remember anything that happened yesterday, why is that? And when I saw you, I remembered everything except after the time you carried me out of the room where I was—“ I trailed off. I don’t know how to say this without making him angry. I saw how he got mad yesterday and I don’t want that to happen again. He stiffened after hearing my question. Now, I’m pretty sure he’s hiding something. I’m not sure what but I’m determined to find out.

“You were just maybe traumatized by what happened to you.” He answered, he was careful in picking his words. He looked so guarded. But I shouldn’t push my luck too much so I just believed what he said for now.

“Really? I guess you’re right” I said, trying to be very convincing. I saw him relaxed, like he was relieved of something. But my interest is piqued so I can’t help but ask another question. “What happened after you carried me? I just want to know.”

“You asked me to get you back to your suite because you’re already worried about your sisters. But before that, I called one of my pack doctors to cure your wounds. They weren’t totally healed though because you were already in hurry to go back to your hotel. I just have to carry you close to me so that at least I could make you feel better and lessen the pain.”

“I-I see. Thank you.” I smiled at him. I felt happy that he took care of me last night even if it was just for a short while. He then snapped his head up and paused. He might be having a mind conversation with someone in his pack. I just stood there, looking at him—admiring his glorious handsome face and perfectly sexy physique. I’m sure he noticed my gaze because he glanced at me with an uneasy expression. I didn’t care about what he was thinking catching me checking him out. I need to satisfy my wolf even just by looking. One step at a time. I said to my wolf. She just purred.

“I have to go. It seems there’s a bit of an emergency,” Caleb said, interrupting my moment.

“Uhmm, okay.” I said.

“Don’t worry, you’re safe here. This place is surrounded by my men. I’ll be back before you know it.” He said and ran towards the direction the 2 guys went earlier. I followed my gaze to where he was and saw him shifted to his wolf. He was a black wolf—a beautiful black wolf. He stopped and turned his head, looking at me. I saw his green eyes. He nodded and went his way. I watched him as he disappeared through the thick forest. I felt like I’ve seen the wolf before. I thought deeply for a while when I finally remembered where I saw that wolf. The painting! He was the wolf in the painting displayed in a street in London before I was abducted. He was the beautiful wolf.

Questions are now piling up inside my head. I need answers.

------

I woke up in the middle of the night. This is strange. I’m a sleeper. When I’m asleep, it’s already hard to wake me up, wherever I may be, comfortable or not. I looked around the bedroom. My sisters were sleeping soundly beside me. I started feeling uneasy. I feel rage inside me. My wolf feels it too, she’s somewhat annoyed. I slowly got out of the bed, sniffing, trying to catch Caleb’s scent. None. He hasn’t come back yet. I went out of the room, towards the stairs. Before I took a step down, I smelled something. It was a very light scent, meaning it was at least a mile away or so. I sniffed again and realized what it was—blood. I ran down the stairs as fast as I could, but tried not to disturb my sleeping sisters. I opened the double doors in the front of the house, still sniffing. The scent was coming from where Caleb disappeared earlier today. Without any more thinking, I followed the trail of the scent. I ran through the thick forest. The smell of blood is getting stronger, so as the rage that I feel. Why am I feeling rage? I’m confused. I stopped when I saw a light—or a camp fire, I’m not sure. I walked carefully, trying not to be caught by anyone. I suddenly heard Caleb’s voice. I flinched. He was growling. He was so angry. He was in rage. Rage. Could it be that I felt what Caleb was feeling at the moment? It was Caleb’s rage, not mine. I tried to listen.

“I never thought it was you!” Caleb growled. I couldn’t see who he was talking to so I went a little closer, careful as I possibly could. I saw a man, wrists tied with silver chain, kneeling on the ground. He was covered with cuts and bruises... blood all over his face and body. I gasped. He looked so beaten up. Did Caleb do this?

“I-It’s not me, Alpha.” said the beaten man. I recognized his voice. My eyes widen when I realized who it was. He was one of the 5 who abducted me—Luke! I covered my mouth with my 2 shaking hands in so much shock.

“You cannot lie, you know that?” Caleb said, stoop down a little and stared at Luke’s bloody face. His eyes went from emerald green to black. “Tell me everything you told them.”

Luke stiffened. “I told them that you found your mate. I told them where to find her and what she looks like.” He said with a blank expression, as if he was like a robot. What just happened? Who’s them?

“Other than that, did you say anything else?” Caleb interrogated.

“No, Alpha.” Luke answered in a monotone.

“Good.” Caleb smiled and with just one swipe of his hand, he sliced Luke’s neck. Big amount blood gushed out of the large wound.

I let out a scream. I was sure Caleb and the others who witnessed the scene heard me because they all turned to where I was. I ran as fast as I could back to the mansion as tears fell from my eyes. Caleb killed him. I saw his face. There was no sign of emotion. It was cold. His eyes were cold.

I didn’t notice anything as I ran fast. It was too late when I realized someone was already standing in front of the double doors of the house.

Caleb.

“Hello, Love. Out for a run, I see.”
