Reflections Of A Sort

Singing In The Rain by Kushal Poddar

The song. Ah, cloud! You have touched the
crescendo again. With a sense
of vague irritation I find
the pebbles on the left side of
my chest is suddenly melting.
The lonely umbrella feels a
Hand on its head. In a rusty
exercise it spreads itself. A
long road we have to walk along,
in search of self, in search of soul.

Reflections Of A Sort by Shelbia C

A lop-sided moon
Shows its pock-marked face,
Smirking in a sky bereft of cloud.
While winter trees stretch,
Twisting their limbs toward the sky,
Lifting their last blood dried leaves in silence,
I feel bitter, suffocating desperation.

Once, while lying in tall green grass,
I felt the earth breathe and sigh
Beneath the burden of her people
As she mourned decayed dreams
And wasted lives.

I tried to understand her pain,
To unveil the reason for the rotting dream,
To understand the solitude, the despair.
Reviewing the questions
Until they became a crazy rhythm in my brain,
But still, I had no solution.
So I stood with a sigh
And leaving Earth with her burden
I prepared to live.

Mystic Forest _1 Kushal Poddar

A smell that we cannot sense
in our city orb
creeps in, green flag of it flies,
wins over our heart.

“what will be available
for dinner this night?”
“Wild chickens if you wish.” Smiles
through his busted dentures,
the old caretaker of
the forest lodge. “What?
Tiger? Nothing that fierce.”

Of course we forget
The most fierce of all, us.

My Guardian Angel by Carlos P

In a world where
the good guy is in reality the bad guy
and where every medication can be abused.
I found you.

My Guardian Angel
that guides me through
the murky waters of the unknown.

Your always by my side
even if you feel like your
oh so far away.
Angels baby, they are everywhere and anywhere.

You are my Guardian Angel
that lives inside of my heart.
Everywhere and anywhere I go
you are there holding my hand,
guiding my through the fog.

Cat Eyes by Kushal Poddar

She is in a mood
as she comes today,
sits in this tepid bed.
The mystic eyes sparkle,
a clear message,
“Do not come near”.

You bow
to this ancient animal
who knows more than you.
You know that at least.

She is the only legacy
left by granny.
How many days
does a cat live?
Answers vary.
A friend has said,
“In Egyptian theology…”

Weekend coffee warms up.
Smoky smells rise
of the dark woods.
Furniture.
She purrs meanwhile.
You know this means love.
You know this much.
And that,
granny is watching you
through two green eyes.
You can’t do
any more wrongs.

Krakens And Wizards by Carlos P.

So, it seems as though
we have forever been departed.
It seems as though
we will never share in each others comfort again.
I don't worry...

Though the occasion does bring sadness.
I know that one day
when Krakens and Wizards
again roam the Earth.
We will come together once again.

Impossible you say,
I think not!
My wand may be beyond repair,
but my pet Kraken is still alive.

One of these days
I will embark on a journey.
In which the good guy will get the girl
and everybody will live happily ever after.

I will roam the Earth
and rescue you from the
dark prison that you live within.
I will break the curse put upon your heart.

It will be just us two
and my pet Kraken.
A Kraken and a Wizard
accompanied by a Goddess herself.

Spirit Of Hate by Kushal Poddar

“Why do you come back?” your whispers
sound so queer! A candle burns. Shades.
The rickety table sweats. Air
is balmy. His answer comes in
a slow drone, some kind of soft chant.
“I have been here. Most of the times.”
How can you argue with one who
should not have been born! “That’s not true.”
The room of dark art fills with a
stench like the gas chamber. Ghettos.
Camps. “You are long gone.” Voice crumples.
“Ask your heart. Inner hatreds. World
that kills and the first cell that has
eaten the next.”
With revulsion begins exorcism.

Lie by Carlos P.

You were always so good at lying
why don't you just keep on lying now?
Tell yourself that I still love you.
Tell yourself that my heart still belongs to you.
Lie to yourself,
It's the only way that your gonna feel
any affection from me anymore.
I have moved on to better things
to things you couldn't give me.
You want me to lie
and say that I still love you
but I just can't.
For four months I gave you
nothing but the truth
and you always thought that I was lying.
Would you believe in me now?
Believe in this,
I don't have to lie
when I say
I don't love you anymore.

On The Face Of by Kushal Poddar

On the face of the cloudy sky,
mist and tamarind leaves
have written few rhyming lines.
A solitary crow,
wet, is looking at a drop of
rain falling in slow
motion. At these times only she
can look at a wristwatch.
Getting late means remarks
in the book of the little brat.
Albeit the innocent one is
being engulfed by clouds,
as usual oblivious.

Abjuration by Gemma Fasheun

a little bit of faith
is all I asked of you
you left late
while the poppies were still dancing
in the first rays of light

one grain that’s all
but oblivion remains
like dust on a lonely naked sole
like a cloak forgotten on a tall hump.
