PROLOGUE

In the face of the grave adversities, we wish some miracles to happen, which can solve all our problems. Indeed, they happen, but not as we desire. During the time of some natural -disaster, we witness deaths and at the same time some infant is rescued from under the debris without any scratch or a new life is born in a bizarre circumstance. These incidents seem to be miracles only.                                                                                                                                                   My heart goes to the people, who suffered in this flood. My heartfelt condolences to the people, who lost their kith and kin in the flood.                                           I wrote this story in a lighter vein. This is a fictional story mixed with some reality and a lot of fantasy. I hope it will entertain the readers.

PREFACE

Guru Vishnu was a perfect yogi. Whatever he was doing, it was for the nation and humanity. He planned to create an army of eight proven Youth Yogis, who will save the nation and humanity.

This story was written in Hindi as Asht Yogis. Later the author translated it into English with the title The eight yogis.

Two teenage seekers, Shankara, and Paras were meditating in a snowy cave in the Himalayas. Both the young seekers were about fifteen years old. Shankara's complexion was black while Paras was fair. Shankara's nose was slightly wider, eyes were big and black, while the nose of Paras was thin and further twisted like a parrot and the eyes were big and blue. Both of them had healthy, athletic bodies. They were clad in cotton kurtas and dhotis.

First Shankara came out of meditation. After a while Paras opened his eyes.

The peace, which prevailed on their faces during meditation had disappeared.

Both of them looked worried. Shankara asked Paras, " Did you see anything during meditation."

Paras said, "I saw that the mountains fell apart. Many human beings and animals died.

Shankara said, "It is surprising. That’s what I saw. "

Paras said, “I am concerned. I think we should tell this to Guruji.”

Shankara said, "Let us go.”

They left the cave and walked on the snowy path with careful steps, towards the Guru Vishnudeva's ashram. The sun was going to set. The mountain peaks were looking orange colored and the sky had shades of red, yellow, and blue. By the time, they reached the ashram it became dusky.

The Guru was sitting surrounded by his disciples in the courtyard of the Ashram.

Guru Vishnudeva was about 51 years of age. But he did not look more than 35 years old. He was a tall, fair, and slim man. His black hair rested on the shoulders. He had grown beard and mustaches He had big eyes. His countenance was always calm. On some special days, he used to cut his hair and shaved his beard. Then one could not even imagine that he was an accomplished Yogi, who had been doing yoga and spiritual practice in the Himalayas for the past twenty years. His Guru, before leaving this world, had ordered him to establish this ashram. So he had established this ashram five years ago.

Shankara and Paras greeted Guruji and stood on one side.

Guru Vishnudeva instructed the attendees to prepare for the evening prayer and took Shankara and Paras to his room.

Guruji took his seat in the room. A bamboo mat was laid on the ground Both the seekers sat on it.

Vishnudeva had read their minds. Still, he wanted to hear from them.

He first asked Shankara, "How was your meditation practice today?"

Shankara said, "Gurudev, the meditation got disturbed soon. In meditation, I saw the breaking of a mountain and the death of the people and my attention got distracted.

Then the Guru asked Paras, " Has any disturbance been in your spiritual practice?"

Paras said, "Yes, Guruji, I saw the same thing and I too came out of meditation early.

Vishnudeva knew all this beforehand. Nevertheless, he said, "In Yoga and spiritual practices, sometime you will have bad experiences and sometime you will be lured by supernatural powers. You have to overcome them. "

Shankara asked curiously, "What we saw was a nightmare or a sign of any event happening in the future?"

Vishnudeva had no choice but, to tell the truth.

Guru Vishnudeva said, "In meditation, you got clairvoyance for a short time. What you saw is a sign of the future. You people do not get distracted from this and continue your practice. After 15 days you will be leaving for your homes, so use the maximum amount of time. Now you can go. "

Shankara and Paras came out of Guruji's room and joined the collective evening prayer. After that, some seekers went to the ashram kitchen to help in the preparation of dinner.

There were two separate large rooms for the boys and the girls'. All seekers used to sleep on the ground. Shankara and Paras daily slept in fixed places. They unfolded and spread their beddings side by side.

After dinner, they lay down in their beds spread on the floor. Paras told Shankara, "If we do a deeper meditation, then we may get more clear indications of the future events. "

Shankara said, "Probably. But according to Guruji, this is not the goal of our spiritual practice. "

Paras remained silent. Most seekers had slept. Soon he also fell asleep.

June 2013

Guru Vishnudeva held an annual summer camp for two months during the period of the summer holidays of schools and colleges, Students used to come from different places and practiced two months yoga. There was a separate arrangement for boys students and girls students. Shankara and Paras had attended two previous summer camps. This was the third consecutive camp attended by them. Shankara was a resident of Kaladi in Kerala and Paras was a resident of Lucknow Uttar Pradesh. They had become close friends

Before opening their regular school, their parents took them home.

After dinner on June 16, Paras was watching the news on TV at his home. Headlines reported that there was a cloud burst in Kedarnath and at some places, there were heavy landslides. It was raining heavily a few days ago.

Paras immediately telephoned Shankara.

Shankara spoke, "Hello Paras!"

Paras said, "Did you see Kedarnath's news?"

Shankara replied, "Yes, It is sad. Did we get a sign of this? "

Paras said, "I think so."

Shankara said, "Guruji must have the full knowledge of this incident."

Paras said, "Guruji generally do not use mobile phones. I tried telepathy, but could not get enough concentration. You sit in meditation and try to contact him. Let me know if you receive some messages."

Shankara said, "Okay, I will try.” And he put down the phone.

After this, Shankara went to his room and sat down in Padmasana before the photo of Vishnudeva and began to try to contact Guru Vishnudev with the telepathic way.

In a short while, the image of Guru Vishnudev appeared in Shankara's mind and his clear voice assailed the ears of Shankara, "What is the matter Shankara?"

Shankara said in his heart only, "Guruji. I have seen the news of the tragedy of Kedarnath I'm sorry. Please provide guidance."

Vishnudeva said, "The tragedy is big. We will be there soon. You can consult the administration and help in collecting the necessary funds and other resources and sending them to the affected people. "

After this message, Shankara came out of meditation. Shankara's mother was knocking at the door of the room and shouting, "Shankara, the food is ready."

Shankara replied, "Amma, I am coming. You can serve the food"

Shankara's father Dinesh and younger sister Roopa and Shankara had dinner together. Rukmani
