Perfect Snowflakes

Perfect snowflakes,a masterful design
Like little lace doilies
Floating in air
Different shapes and sizes
Bring enchantment and wonder
As they fall from the sky
Children running in circles
Catching them on tongues
Running in circles
As they slide in the snow

A Christmas Tree Full Of Memories

I carefully arrange my memories one by one
On every branch of my tall Christmas tree
Not resting until the job is done
Climbing up and down on both knees

I recall how my brother loved this time of year
As I place his pinecone on the branch near me
Gold decorated balls I hang over there
A gift from an old friend,I no longer see

My mothers’glass ornament I place nearby
Remembering how she cherished every year
I take a deep breath, trying not to cry
And thinking of her, utter a silent prayer

As I sit back to admire my decorated tree
Memories come flooding back of holidays past
Counting myself lucky to have been loved by three
Cherishing tender moments, knowing they will last!

A Cozy Winter Night

Snuggling with a good book
As the snow falls below
Escaping boredom as I look
Past the flakes on my window

Being transported by every page
Takes me away from my cares
I no longer feel I am in a cage
As my book brings me to tears

Snow Adventure

As The snow and ice cover the ground
And the wind grows fierce and swift
The cars keep circling round and round
Avoiding the mounting snow drifts

The look on my face shows alarm
As a relative tries grabbing the wheel
I struggle through fear, and try to stay calm
As My In-law laughs through this ordeal

After we’ve gained control of the car
I am happy the weekend is over
Next winter I’ll not venture so far
Not even in Patricks’range rover

Christmas In Danielsville

Tall snowdrifts like winter mountains, as If arranged by hand
Blocking my view of the landscape around my brothers’land
Still there is no silence,as my nephew comes from behind
And hits me with a snow ball,is he out of his mind!
In the face I take It,as I fall ,shocked by the cold
He is only seven, and very very bold!
I try at once to chase him,but fall on my knees
At once I beg for him to stop,as I utter please
At that very moment he falls back on his tush
I grab a giant ball of snow, but It turns to mush
Suddenly my younger brother appears at the door
As my emboldened nephew pelts me once more

That First Christmas Eve

Was that first Christmas Eve,a cold bitter night
When our savior came down wrapped as a man
With the weight of the world within his sight
His mighty angels watching over the land

Visitors travelled from a distant place
To see the Savior with arms so wide
Outstretched to welcome a fallen race
Our sins and faults so often denied

A king,yet humble,who taught us much
Revealed to man his divine plan
Divine and human, with a common touch
A gift for all time spread through the land

Winter Fantasy

Some experts say winter makes us sad
Days are shorter, sunlight not as bright
But there is a truism,I might add
Despite short days,I love the night

To watch the moon reflect through trees
And count footprints in newly fallen snow
Feeling a chill with each passing breeze
Imagining I was playing down below

Feeling silky snow beneath my feet
Making tracks anyone can follow
Shaking the snow off as I cross the street
This is someone’s dream,I thought I’d borrow

Thirty Winters Ago

It’s been thirty years since we laid you to rest on a winter day
The Ground covered with snow, forming a blanket where you’d lay

Wind rustling through trees, calling out your name as If In prayer
Mother you died so young!,I thought holding back a tear.

We chose a concrete vault to keep you safe from the cold
As we bowed our heads in prayer,It was your story that we told

Someone who suffered since youth, from pain and sorrow
And gave us hope,to face the trials of tomorrow

Two teenage children you left but not without your love
To get us though the years,we sought comfort from above

My New Year

Some celebrate with drink, the end of a year
A time for nostalgia and making merry
But I’d much rather skip the beer
And ride all night on the Ferry

Planning carefully my hopes and dreams
That I’ve laid out on paper the night before
While I stare at the ferry’s beams
And listen to the vagrant snore

The cold wind rushing through the air
Adds swishing noises to the ferry
Suddenly,I become aware
That I’ve been freezing, not making merry

Spring Laying In Wait

Beneath the barren white covered Grass
Lies new seeds awaiting an entrance en masse
Beneath the white covered barren trees
Lay new spring flowers eager to please
The silence of winter skies, soon gives way
To familiar chirping of birds who will stay
And fill us with song to brighten our day
Ordinary people will walk with such ease
As snow is replaced by a warmer breeze
Coats will be shed for sweaters that flow
As children run through the streets below
We’ll open our windows to breath the air
To feel the spring breeze though our hair.

Hope And Tears

-By Frances Ayers

Many a tear has fallen upon my breast
Years gone by,you have gone to your rest
Time has not erased memories of old
Smiles and sadness are one to behold
Longing to share the mysteries of life
Still missing you cuts like a knife
You are not forgotten, never my dear
I'll think of you always, your heart I'll hold near
Drinking up today and tomorrow
Making the most of each and every day
Remembering the love,burying sorrow
With faith as an anchor, finding a way
Though many travails,our memories stay
And lift us through the bitter taste of night
Uplifting us through the day as we pray
Never ending love always within our sight
Memories linger, enough to carry my heart
Through every travail,I will keep myself sane
For your love has carried me from the start
No longer is fear so prevalent in my soul
Your love is eternal, never ceasing to be
Through all the joys and sorrow;now I'm whole
