Most people say that when they see the person who they are meant to be with, they know it right away. I knew that true love existed, because I have seen it with my mom and dad. They’ve been together for eighteen years. I was hoping to be like them, but honestly, I am not sure my boyfriend right now, Wes, was him. I mean, a girl wants to be with the typical guy who is a southern gentleman, a star on the football team and popular around the school, right? Wes had every single one of those qualities. There was nothing wrong with him. I mean, sure, we had our normal fights, but doesn’t everyone? I knew Wes was probably the most gorgeous guy I have ever seen. Brown curly hair that sat on top of his deep blue eyes, a tan that any southern boy would kill for, and he was very muscular. Wes is head over heels for me; however, I can’t say that I am not head over heels for him either. He’s my prince charming. I was hoping him and I were going to last through our senior year, and possibly for the rest of our lives. I love Wes, and truthfully, he loves me so much more.
The morning of my first day of summer was a blur. I woke up to the Georgia sun and heat flooding my room, my mom yelling at my sister Heather to get up., our housekeeper, Nina, telling my older brother, by all of three minutes, Jack, to get up, and my dad just telling my mother and Nina to calm down. My dad is the peace around this household. Although he is the most powerful lawyer in the city of Atlanta, he can still keep his cool and not be the all powerful lawyer our family knows him as. Suddenly, someone opened my door and I jump out of bed faster than most.
“Miss Natalie Ann, you need to get up and get ready for your day. I don’t know what makes you think you can sleep until 10:30 when I know you know how much I despise the fact that you children sleep in until the late morning hours,” Nina stated. I hate how she is super rude towards us kids about getting up early. I mean, it’s summer and we are suppose to enjoy our sleeping in. I wake up at 5:45 AM every morning for school, so I do have the right to sleep in.
“ Nina, it’s summer. We can sleep in if we want,” I told her as I went to my bathroom and took a shower. When I got out, I went over to my night stand table and pick up my phone to see I had a message, and it was from Wes.
Wes: morning beautiful (: sleep well?
Me: yes I did. My parents are going out of town tonight and heather is going with them. Jack is staying w/ Keith. Nina wont be here.
Wes: so, I can come over? And just be with you? Although I’m picking you up in an hour.
Me: yep (: just me and you. Well, and Bella. Heather wanted to take Bella but momma wouldn’t let her.
Wes: that’s cool. I can’t wait to see you.
Me: me either (;
“ Natalie Ann!!!! Come downstairs and get breakfast!!” my mother said as I pulled on a pair of brown shorts and a pink tank top. Then, I went into my bathroom and put some powder to my face, mascara to my eyelashes. Then, I gave my hair a final flip and walked out of the bathroom. My hair was perfect. I didn’t need to do anything to it and it went into loose spiral curls with no frizz or mess at all. I turned off my light, slid on my brown flip flops and went downstairs to French toast and eggs.
“ Morning momma,” I told my mom as I gave her a kiss on the cheek. Then, suddenly, my phone vibrated in my pocket. I check the message and it was from Wes.
Wes: I miss you babe. Can I come over now?
“Natalie Ann Jones. No phones at the table,” Nina told me as I rolled my eyes and began eating.
“Mom, Wes is picking me up here soon and I was wondering if he could join us for breakfast,” I asked my mom as she looked at me and smiled. My parents love Wes. He’s a perfect guy and no parents can resist him.
“ Of course he can. Go ahead and text him to let him know,” my mother said with a smile on her face and I pulled my phone out and told Wes he could come over.
Me: momma said you could come over (:
Wes: be over in two. Pulling into your driveway now. (:
Me: okay
“ Daddy, can I ask you a question?” my little seven year old sister Heather asked my dad and sat on his lap. Then, the doorbell rang and I ran to the door and opened it to see Wes’ smiling face. He slid in the house and put his arms around my waist and gave me a kiss.
“ Hey beautiful. I sure have missed you,” Wes told me as he took his arms away from my waist and tangled his fingers with mine.
“ I know. I missed you too,” I said smiling as he sat beside me and Nina put a plate of food in front of him. Now, most people consider southern boys to really chow down, and truthfully, they’re right. Wes is not a exception. He is a typical southern boy. He loves to hunt, paintball, fish, and go mudding. Wes Callahan is a typical southern boy, and he’s all mine. As we finished eating, my brother finally made it downstairs in time for breakfast.
“ Jack Heath, what do you think you are doing coming down here at 11:15 and just thinking Nina is going have breakfast ready for you?” my mother asked as he sat down by my mom.
