The Human Alliance
“Personal Log: April 20, 2981. Earth Explorers hoped future interstellar missions would prove more successful than the ill-fated Draco Expedition. One month after returning to Earth, their hopes came to fruition. On November 13, 2980, deep space probes from the Earth, Amazon, and Orion Solar Systems simultaneously converged at an equidistant location among their three suns. The probes immediately sent confirmation to their points of origin. This confirmation arrived with great cheer. The probes’ nearly identical technology allowed them to exchange information about their solar systems, biospheres, flora, and fauna. Scientists throughout these three solar systems were elated upon learning humans inhabited other solar systems. To minimize security concerns, the governments in these solar systems proposed an interstellar meeting. The three governments swiftly agreed to an interstellar conference. The Milky Way Galaxy no longer seemed so imposing to our ecstatic species. The delegations rendezvoused on January 1, 2981. Once diplomatic relations were established, the delegations requested tours of the newly discovered solar systems. Montana’s Fort Peck Super Light Speed Research Station was the first stop in the tour. Amazon and Orion delegates marveled at the large size of Earth compared to their much smaller planets. The second tour was of the Amazon Solar System. Earth and Orion delegates were impressed by the twin planets Ainia and Asteria, the Helene Asteroid Belt, and the fluorescent blue ‘Nucleus’ which concealed Antiope and its moon. Complete bewilderment overcame the Earth and Amazon delegations as they viewed the twin suns Orion and Merope, the 10 miniature planets Aeacus, Britomartis, Dardanus, Concordia, Glaucus, Kalypsó, Cenarius, Klymenê, Triton, and Fortuna in the Cluster of Orion, and the iridescent Miasma spanning the solar system. On March 21, 2981, The Human Alliance officially formed when the delegations signed the Agreement of Cooperation granting cultural, medical, scientific, and technological exchanges. Engineers immediately began constructing space stations for deployment between the solar systems. Interstellar cooperation greatly improved super light speed technology. A recently discovered solar system with a green sun in ‘Dark Star Territory’ will be the destination of the Alliance’s first expedition. End transmission.” Andrew Maze said.
At 3:00 a.m. April 21, Andrew was dreaming about the upcoming Dark Star Expedition. Andrew piloted a long diamond shaped Earth Juggernaut cruiser. The Juggernaut was accompanied by a wide diamond shaped Earth Dreadnought cruiser. As these two ships entered Dark Star Territory, they rendezvoused with Amazon and Orion Juggernauts and Dreadnoughts. All six cruisers were heavily armed and fortified. Radiation from the green sun hampered the ships’ sensors. Andrew concealed the uneasiness gripping him.
“As a safety measure, I urge the fleet to be alert for possible encounters.” Andrew said. “I concur.” Troy West and Tory East from the Amazon and Orion cruisers, respectively, stated in unison.
Communication, tracking, and weapons systems began malfunctioning.
“Everybody switch to manual!” Andrew interjected.
Suddenly, three long, dark green, isosceles triangle shaped ships and three wide, dark green, isosceles triangle shaped ships commenced firing upon the Human Alliance fleet. For a brief moment, Andrew saw a human shaped figure with a bat like head appear on
