The Philippines
At 12 midnight Tuesday June 1, 2010, Central Security Service agent, Dr. Nicholas Stark made final preparations for an incident against a Babuyan Islands villa in the Philippines. Stark lacked his usual gadgets and colleagues, because his mission was not sanctioned by the National Security Agency. The criminally unscrupulous U.S. businessman, Eddie Talbert was Stark’s intended target. Talbert was convicted in federal court due to tainted pharmaceutical products his company, Supreme, manufactured. Former Supreme scientists informed the FDA and DEA that Talbert knew his products had lethal side effects for certain people, but he aggressively marketed the products with blatant disregard to public safety. Stark had no trouble persuading two Philippine Secret Service agents to assist in sanctioning Talbert. Esperanza Hidalgo and Mercedes Aguinaldo happily conspired with Stark, because numerous Filipinos were among Supreme’s victims. Stark was impressed by Hidalgo and Aguinaldo’s infiltration of the villa. Several days earlier they entered the villa with a group of prostitutes Talbert provided for his sons and security personnel. Stark took surveillance photos of the estate while Hidalgo and Aguinaldo determined the strengths and weaknesses of Talbert’s security. Stark and his two Filipino colleagues expertly uncovered all the vital security features they would need to neutralize.
“I’ll approach Talbert’s villa via a scuba diver propulsion vehicle. Just offshore of the villa, I’ll attach a bomb to the hull of his yacht.” Stark said.
“It’s about time! Thousands of deaths worldwide can be attributed to pharmaceuticals developed and marketed by Supreme.” Hidalgo stated.
“Your wonderful U.S. President Melvin Flynn pardoned Talbert of all criminal charges, so this is the only he’ll get what he deserves.” Aguinaldo said.
“This Talbert affair disgusts me to no end. I’ve served the U.S. government since 1992, but I’m quickly becoming less motivated to serve corrupt officials on my own shores.” Stark replied.
“President Flynn is no better than the murderous foreign agents you’ve probably eliminated over the last two decades.” Aguinaldo said.
“It’s no secret that Flynn and Talbert are long time personal friends. Talbert decided to make a hasty retreat from the United States as death threats abounded. I tracked him to the Philippines. With luck, we’ll find information damaging to President Flynn.” Stark said.
“One thing’s certain. Talbert and his cronies will soon taste their just deserts.” Hidalgo concluded.
When Stark was at a safe distance from the yacht, he notified Hidalgo and Aguinaldo. Hidalgo and Aguinaldo rigged the local power station to go offline.
“The power blackout will appear as sabotage by one of the leftist guerrilla factions operating in the northern Philippines.” Aguinaldo stated.
“I’m remote detonating the bombs placed in key locations of the power station.” Hidalgo said.
Talbert’s estate and the surrounding homes immediately lost power. Hidalgo and Aguinaldo then used their night vision goggles to target Talbert’s guards. Aguinaldo shot two guards with her sniper’s rifle while Hidalgo began launching rocket propelled grenades into the villa grounds. Stark hoped Talbert, his wife, and sons would flee to the yacht as Hidalgo and Aguinaldo eliminated Talbert’s security personnel. The Talberts proved most predictable as they left their guards to fend for themselves and boarded a launch to the yacht. The five member security team laid dead as the Talberts boarded the yacht. As Talbert raced toward the dock, Stark remote detonated the bomb. Onlookers from miles away saw the explosion.
“The police will be in no position to respond immediately due to the pyrotechnics I placed throughout the area. I think we’ve successfully fooled the local population to believing your leftist guerrillas are beginning an offensive.” Stark said.
With the area secure, Stark came ashore to raid Talbert’s files. Hidalgo and Aguinaldo joined Stark
