The Infiltrators

The recently promoted Lieutenant Colonels Tirrus and Elaga embarked on a reconnaissance mission deep inside Caudatan space. They traveled in a stealth prototype vessel. Their ship, named the Infiltrator, was a two member scout class vessel designed to trick adversaries into thinking a friendly ship approached by imitating its adversaries' transponder signals. If adversaries realized the transponder signals were false, the Infiltrator's superb stealth capabilities would automatically engage. Tirrus and Elaga's objectives were to gather vital information about Caudatan defenses and locate the Menagerie. As a further safety measure, Tirrus and Elaga wore personal stealth devices which could imitate life signs for all known aliens in the Chiropteran Medical Database. If Tirrus, Elaga, and the Infiltrator were to land on Caudata, their Chiropteran holograms would mask their presence.

After a few hours in Caudatan space, the Infiltrator's sensors located the Menagerie. Unfortunately, the Menagerie was not alone as it had been during its last encounter with the Interceptor.

“Tirrus to the Interceptor. I have shocking news. A Caudatan armada is surrounding the Menagerie.” Tirrus said.

“Even though the site of numerous battle cruisers is intimidating, we fully expected such an occurrence.” Elaga said while transmitting footage to Major General Pirro.

Pirro was not at all surprised by the heavily armed escort accompanying the Menagerie. “Rear Admiral Mandra, will not repeat his mistakes. From a military standpoint, I respect Mandra's ability. Continue monitoring the Menagerie while I meet with Brigadier General Murci, and Colonel Marea. I’ll need some assistance from my first and second officers.” Pirro said.

Tirrus piloted the Infiltrator to within a few miles of the Menagerie. Elaga continued scanning the Menagerie for weaknesses.

“I ultimately believe the only way to defeat the Menagerie and rescue all her captives is to damage her vital internal systems. The only problem is how to place an operative onboard.” Tirrus stated.

“Luckily, the alien signal that revealed her location is still transmitting. I wonder if maybe some of the alien races aboard devised a means to combine their technology in the form of a distress beacon, because the signal does not match any known alien communication system.” Elaga said.

Onboard the Interceptor, Pirro formulated a plan to infiltrate the Menagerie. Murci and Marea viewed the plan as bold and risky.

“Tirrus and Elaga will implant Chiropteran nanomonitors on two of the Menagerie's crew members or two of her captives.” Pirro said.

“Such a task will place Tirrus and Elaga dangerously close to our Caudatan adversaries.” Murci responded.

“Sir there’s one other pressing issue. Mandra will soon try to recapture Jason and Xenia Maze.” Marea stated.

“If the humans are collected, Mandra will turn his attention back towards Elaga and me.” Due to this reality, I adjusted the nanocomputers within Jason and Xenia to act as surveillance devices.” Tirrus reported.

“In the event Jason and Xenia are captured, their nanocomputers will transmit whatever they see aboard the Menagerie to the Infiltrator and the Interceptor.” Tirrus and I also adjusted our nanocomputers to act as transmitters if we are captured.” Elaga replied. With safety measures in place, Pirro ordered the Infiltrator to rendezvous with Interceptor in the Earth Solar System. Simultaneosly, Murci made battle preparations while Marea maintained open communication with the Chiropteran Military Command.

The Warning

During the early Saturday morning of the 1976 Memorial Day weekend, Jason Maze was having an ominous dream. He found himself alone on the edge of a vast marsh. In the distance, there was a large hill. Jason instinctively sought the high ground, so he could avoid the swamps altogether. Upon leaving the wetlands, he walked towards the hill. As Jason neared the top of the hill, he saw what appeared to be a small glade. When Jason finally reached the hilltop, he was amazed to find a small savanna. The savanna was bordered by a large lake or an ocean on its western edge. The savanna contained a few ponds and small lakes. Jason began traversing the savanna towards the western coastline. While en route to the coast, Jason noticed an individual walking towards him. It was the mysterious black clad stranger Jason had seen in his dream about the planet Elysium. When they were nearly face to face, Jason addressed the stranger.

"What is this place? I don't recognize it." Jason said.

"This is the home of your captors." The stranger said.

"Why have you brought me here?"

"You came willingly. I came to warn you."

"Who in the world are you?"

At that moment, the stranger removed the black shroud from his face. Jason was shocked when he realized he had seen this individual before. His solid colored blue eyes were permanently etched into Jason memory.

"You're the Elysian I saw aboard the Menagerie! You escaped?" Jason asked.

"Was I ever really there?" Who I am is not important. Your family is in danger. They're coming." The stranger stated.

"Who's coming? What can I do to protect my family?"

"Beware of the
