The Signal

At 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning of the 1976 Easter weekend, Jason Maze was dreaming about a spectacular city. The city was perfect like something from a fairy tail. Surprisingly, the city was deserted. Jason saw a stranger approaching from the distance. The stranger shrouded his face with a black garment. The stranger came closer to reveal his true identity. Just as he was about to uncover his face, Jason and Xenia Maze were awakened by an alien signal emanating from the watches Tirrus and Elaga gave them during the past Columbus Day weekend. Jason and Xenia immediately assumed the Caudatans had returned. Jason sprang to his watch to contact Tirrus. Jason quickly realized something different about the signal. Both he and Xenia were puzzled by the signal, because it was not Chiropteran. When a holographic image of an alien solar system appeared like something from a Disney World ride, Jason voiced his curiosity.

“Something tells me we may have visitors on the way.”

“Do you know who’s sending this?” Xenia asked.

“I have no idea. This is not something I dreamed.”

“Do you think we and the kids are safe?”

“I think so. This solar system looks similar to ours.”

“But what system is this and who’s sending the message?”

“We can only watch. Whoever’s sending this has something important to show us.”

The holographic images then centered on a planet much like Earth. A magnificent city came into view.

“The inhabitants are Elysian. I think we’re finally going to learn the connection between Elysium and Earth.” Jason said as a commentator appeared.

The Elysian System

“I am Zeus of the Elysian Alliance. I transmit this message throughout our galaxy as an invitation. I hope one day, alien species will gladly contact our race. I will now provide a brief description of Elysium. In the inner edge of one of our galaxy’s spiral arms is a solar system of nine planets. The inhabitants call it The Elysian System. The Elysian System consists of four inner planets-Hermes, Aphrodite, Elysium, Aries, an asteroid belt, four gas giant outer planets-Zeus, Cronus, Ouranos, Poseidon, and a small, dark planet-Hades. The inner planet Aphrodite once had two enormous moons with a dangerous proximity to one another. These moons-Apocalypse and Styx no longer exist. Their destruction wreaked havoc throughout the solar system. Elysium itself is ideal for the formation of life. The average temperature is 50 degrees. The north and south poles were frozen while the temperatures rise above 100 degrees near the equator. Elysium has two large continents, the Eastern Continent and the Western Continent which cover 30% of the surface while two pristine blue oceans, the Eastern Ocean and the Western Ocean, cover the remaining 70%. No other planet or their moons can sustain life. The Elysian atmosphere is in perfect balance. Its undamaged ozone layer protects both plant and animal life from the sun while simultaneously retaining heat in the winter months. The topography is extremely varied with mountains, savannahs, forests, deserts, tundra, and taiga. We only build cites where the environment can sustain us. Our species learned eons ago not to tamper with nature. The Elysians race is nearly identical to several other species in our region of the galaxy. Our only phenotypical difference to some species is our eyes. Elysian eyes are one solid color-blue, green, brown or
