About The Book
This is a mini novel whodunit mystery about a man who has particularly angered ten people and is murdered by one of them in the woods. The characters in this book are fictional. Any similarity between them and any actual persons is purely coincidental.
You are in for a rude awakening when your timing is off. Cheryl Heifer incurred a red welt on her left cheek after receiving a hard slap from the infuriated black man whose special moment was interrupted in his sacred man cave in Killeen, Texas.
In tears, Cheryl Heifer pleaded, “But honey, I was just trying to get intimate with you again. Sorry to interrupt you, but you didn’t have to hit me.”
“You made me miss my batter hitting a grand slam to win the game with the team having the bases loaded, trailing by three runs and down to their last strike just to ask me for sex!” barked Darren Pickings, mean to almost everyone.
Cheryl then scampered upstairs, slammed the front door and called the cops. Within ten minutes, they showed up and arrested Darren for domestic assault.
In disbelief, Cheryl moaned, “How could he do this to me? I was nice to him and tried to be his friend. I can see why he is disliked by a lot of people and doesn’t have many friends.”
Speaking of Darren, he was photographed, had his fingerprints taken and was booked into a holding cell at the local police precinct. Many hours later, he was released after posting $5000 for bail.
The next day, Darren showed up at Cheryl’s house to beg for forgiveness.
“Please give me a second chance. I’ve learned the error of my ways. I’m really a nice guy who just overreacted yesterday,” pleaded Darren as Cheryl opened her door.
“Fine, I’ll give our relationship another chance,” surrendered Cheryl, the fool she was.
As they kissed for several seconds on Cheryl’s porch, Cherry Pickings (Darren’s black wife) happened to see this while casually driving by and pulled into the driveway.
“What are you doing making out with my husband, you heifer? I ought to beat you down,” fumed Cherry as she stormed her way to the porch.
“I didn’t know he was married. He lied to me. He’s all yours,” defended Cheryl.
While going back inside, she told Darren, “Please leave me alone and don’t come back, you fiend.”
Furious with Darren, Cherry ranted, “How dare you cheat on your own wife, you two-timer! I have half a mind to kill you. We’re getting a divorce now!”
Watching her drive off while having thoughts of killing him, Darren thought, “I just lost two women I love. Maybe I need to stay committed to just one woman. Not!”
As Darren walked toward his car, Cheryl opened her door and yelled to him, “If your wife doesn’t kill you, I might kill you.”
Minutes after Cherry drove away, she filed for a divorce then went home. Within the next 24 hours, she finished packing and moved out of the house she shared with Darren.
Darren liked to sell illegal drugs on the streets. To avoid getting caught, he did his dope selling in remote areas and did not do it that often. Jim Flick, a black man, was gently approached by Darren in an alley.
“Want to buy some crack cocaine, my brother?” asked Darren.
“Yes. How much does it cost?” replied Jim.
“100 bucks for this pocket sized bag of crack,” answered Darren.
