Chapter One

(Before Note: If you haven't read my first book Skeletons in the Closet, you should because you will be very confused if you start reading now. Thanks!)
I grabbed the gun out of Neal's back pocket and shot the thing that was running after us. Once you shot it, it would pop up somewhere else. It was almost impossible to kill, but I got fed up with the little... thing and grabbed the knife from my boot. Stabbing myself in the arm, I winced, but didn't let the tears to fall. "Alex, are you OK?"
"Just hold it down!" I watched as Neal tackled it to the ground and held open his mouth. I walked over to the thing. Pale green skin, blood running down its eyes. His teeth were yellow and mangled. I turned my head as my blood fell into his mouth.
I have never seen what my blood has done to others, but I know it kills. Can be used for war, revenge, and pain evil.
The little bugger froze in its spot and looked to the sky. Dark green boils formed on his skin and popped. Yellow goop splashed all over my clothes. I wiped it from my eyes and directed my attention back to the thing. Slowly his skin peel back to show his fleshy insides.
"Come one," Neal pulled on my hand. As we walked away, I looked back to see the thing burn into ashes. Truly horrifying. "Even though it scratched the hell out of my arm, I still feel guilty."
"Your not the one who did the killing," I shook my hand away from him and fell in step with him.
It has been five days and we still haven't made it to this glorious city Neal likes to talk about. Five days since my heart has been ripped into shreds. Five days since I could feel the tears in the back of my eyes, but I wouldn't let myself cry. Not yet at least. Not in till I am alone, in a cold bed, with a bucket of Ben and Jerry's sitting next to me. Five days since I have seen Casey, it feels like the life has been sucked out of me. "Alex?"
"No, I don't want to talk about it," I pushed the tree branch away from me. "How long till we get to Julia?"
"It should be only around the corner," he helped me over a fallen trunk. I followed him into the forest. Over the past days, we barely talked. I was still shell-shocked from the news he gave me and grew very nervous around him. I didn't think he was lying because I felt the same spark I had with Casey only darker.
Neal knocked on a rock three times and it swung open. Neal held out his hand, but I brushed him aside and jumped inside a dark tunnel. Smart idea.
******************************************************************************************
I stood in front of at least twenty people, all staring me down. They were all much taller than me, all made the same dark personalities and gloomy face expressions. I pressed closer to Neal; I might not know him well, but I at least trust him. "I am the king of this city, you will obey my command!" Neal yelled.
Everyone turned their attention back to Neal and bowed their heads. Neal and I have been down here for three hours trying to convince his council that they could accept me into their city and let me train with them. So far it wasn't working out for us the way we hoped.
"She was in love with our enemies, how do we know we could trust her? She could be a spy, bringing her here could have been a huge mistake," one of the shorter guys called out. I have learned his name was Travis. Shaggy blonde hair and brown eyes. He was slightly attractive, but nothing like the man who stood by my side.
"I trust her," Neal looked down on me and gave me a slight smile. "If she harms us, then you could hold me responsible."
Everyone nodded their heads in agreement and filed their way out of the room. Neal and I was the only ones left, "Is that a yes?"
He grabbed my hand and pulled me out the door, "Come on, I have to show you where you are staying for now." We wound through many hallways and took many turns. I felt like we were going around in circles, but this was my first time and I probably shouldn't say anything. After a ten minute walk we finally walked out of the cave to a underground city.
In front of me was a beautiful black river with silver fishes darting their way though the water. A small path from there took you to the little town. Many house were lined up in circles around each other, creating a twelve circles within each other. The small path led you to the middle where stalls were randomly placed and little children begging their parents for the newest toy.
In the middle stood a tall fountain. A beautiful woman held a flower as water cascaded around her. Another path made of stone led you a large caste outside the town. Power radiated from the glowing bricks. From where I stood you could see a garden behind the castle than a forest.
"Come on," Neal led me town the stairway. We walked through the town hand in hand. At first it was very awkward, but after Neal bought me flowers I was pointing at the birds in the trees and the children playing tag. The town held a naturally gloomy feel, but it was actually very fun and alive.
"So your the prince?"
"I am. Everything you see will soon be mine," Neal smiled down at me and pushed back a piece of my hair.
"Must be easy."
"Not at all." Neal sat down at the fountain and I sat down next to him, placing my hand on his arm. "I was always under the strict rule of no silly business. When I was young, I could not have any friends and play in the park. I had to learn the rules of being king and follow the steps that my father took."
"Do you want to be king?"
"I have always dreamed of being king, but it is very stressful." We sat their for awhile, enjoying the warmth in the air and the smell of freshly baked bread. I pulled him up with me and wrapped my hand around his arm.
"So, you were never able to get to do kid stuff, right?"
"Yes?"
"Good."
******************************************************************************************
Neal stood with his back toward the kids. His hands covered his eyes and he counted out numbers loud enough for the kids to hear. When he turned around he walked up to me and wrapped his arms around my waist, "Why aren't you hiding?"
"I would be lost without you," I exaggerated and put my hand on my forehead. I stifled a laugh and walked out of his embrace. "Lets go find the kids."
We walked through the town, looking for five little kids who like to hid in the crooks and crannies. "I know you know where they are, could you at least give me a hint."
"No, that is cheating. What kind of lesson would be teaching," I tilted my head to the left. Next to us stood a barrel, where a small child named Lily hid. Golden brown curls and a missing tooth, made her the cutest kid I have ever seen.
I scratched my left and tried giving him a sign. After a while, light dawned on his face and he casually walked over to the barrel. "I Wonder where those kids could be?" Maybe under this rock?" Tiny giggles came from the barrel; I very much enjoyed this game out hid and seek.
Eventually Neal open the top and Lily sprang from the barrel. "You found me," Lily giggled again. Neal picked her up and out of the barrel. Just as he was sitting her down the other four ran up to Neal and surrounded his legs.
The two twins, Lucas and Heather, had fire red hair and mischievous grins on their faces. both with green eyes and dimples on their cheeks. Jack the shortest of all fumbled with a teddy bear and walked around with. Dark short brown hair and blue eyes, you could see he would be a heart breaker when he grew up. Then their was the last, Rain, Neal's younger sister who stood the closest to Neal. She had black hair like Neal and the same pale skin. Neal and rain could be twins if Rain didn't have blue eyes.
"Now it is Lily's turn to be it," Jack pointed at Lily's face and ran off. Lily turned around and started her counting. Neal grabbed my hand and ran.
We were squished in an small alley between buildings as Lily walked by. She looked under sheets and boxes. Opened doors, but didn't see us. She wandered away and both Neal and I let out the laughter built inside us. "I guess we should show are faces."
"Not yet," Neal puled me back into are hiding spot. We both stood in front of each other pressed chest to chest. We breathed heavy from the laughter that took out breath away.
"I have a feeling you brought us here other than a good hiding spot."
"Maybe, maybe not," he looked down devilishly at me and leaned his head in.
I pressed my hand against his chest and looked at my muddy boots. "I am sorry, but the pain is to raw at the moment. I am really just looking for a friend right now."
Neal nodded his head, "I understand."

Chapter Two

I shuffled down the hallways, Neal by my side and the principal to my right. Since I have been roaming around the world, I never got to settle down at a real school, finish high school or learn about my demonic powers. To sum it up, I get to go to a demon school with bunch of demons. "Is there a school uniform?"
"No Miss Woods, it is a free dress school."
"Oh," I looked down at my feet. We walked into a office and Neal motioned me to sit in one of the bigger chairs. Neal sat closer to the principle, looking in between the two of us.
"In my school, we graduate by how much you have learned. I have some twenty years olds still in their second year of high school, simply because they don't get a hang of their powers."
"Is there other powers? Can demons have powers?"
"Yes, Miss Woods, there are at least three powers in total. Mind control, ability to move things with their minds, and natural strength. But Neal has told me about your... specialty."
"I have seen it with my own eyes," Neal grabbed my hand. It was twice as big as mine and surround my whole hand. The courage I needed flooded from him and into me. The tingles that shot up my arm and the sparks from our touch.
"I have only done it once, I haven't tried on any plants or humans... yet." The principle stood from his chair and walked to the window sill. He came back and set a small plant in front of me.
"It would be an honor if you could show me?" I nodded my head and pulled the knife out of my boot. My knife, long thin and silver, always was in my boot. I have learned to walk with a knife poking at my foot and it is actually felt weird without it in my boot.
The knife plunged in my forearm. It hurt like hell, but I held it over the plant. I watched as blood slide across the plant's thin leaves, leaving a trail of yellow after it. My blood seeped into the soil and in second the whole plant, withered up and turned to dust. "Remarkable."
"Yeah she is," Neal winked at me and looked back at the plant. "So what grade will she be put in?"
"Since your power is pretty easy to use, I will put you in third year. You already now what to do with your power, now you need to learn to combine your strength and your demons. Welcome to Demon's School of Learning."
******************************************************************************************
"You really don't need to do this," I was dragged into a store. "I could just wear this."
Neal looked me up and down, disgust written all over his face. I looked down at my yellow goop stained shirt, torn jeans, and muddy boots. "It will be my treat. Anyways you can't wear that stuff everyday."
Neal walked up to the cash register and handed the women behind the counter a credit card. "Everything me and my lovely friend put on this counter, ring it up for us please."
"Yes, sir," she came around the counter and grabbed me by the hand. It was a plump it lady, greying hair wound up in a tight bun, short skinny figure and fingers that dung into my wrist. "I know the perfect outfits for you."
I came out each time I tried on a new out, flaunting around for Neal and giving him a pose here and there. I agreed on anything with black or green in it, and Neal agreed with anything that showed skin. We argued over many choices, but ended up buying mostly everything I bought, for choices as Neal said.
"This is just way to much," I looked down at the twenty bags in my hands. "I mean, there is only four months left of school."
"Yeah, but what about the summer and next year," Neal popped the trunk and placed the bags in his hand in the trunk. I haven't told him I was planning to leave the first day of summer. I truly was thankful for what he was doing for me, but I needed to see my family and figure what happened last week.
"Neal I don't-"
"Are you hungry?" Neal's face lightened up as he led me through the streets. "I was thinking we could go to the zoo or a circus. Maybe we could go to the ice cream shop afterwards?"
In till the time came, I would let Neal have the childhood he never had, "I would love to go to the zoo."
"Good because it is only a couple of blocks over," Neal grabbed hold of my hand and we ran across the street, we ran till we could see the elephants and the large iron gate. We walked up to the booth to buy our tickets.
"One adult-"
"Actually two adults," Neal's arm stretched around me and paid the man with a twenty dollar bill. "Just being a gentleman."
I smiled and accepted my ticket and we walked into the zoo. "You didn't have to do that, I could have paid for myself."
"Yeah, but what kind of man would let the lady pay for her ticket? Hopefully non that went out with you," Neal's eyes lightened up as he saw the lions. He pulled me towards the fence that ran along the lion exhibit. "They are truly beautiful."
"You could say that," I leaned my head against his shoulder as he pointed out which ones were female and which ones were male. Neal was very excited to see the other animal and dragged me along behind him.
We stopped by the tigers, "I think they are my favorite."
"Why is that?"
"Look how beautiful they are. They attract the eyes without trying, yet if you get close to them they could be very dangerous. They are like an illusion, waiting for there prey, tempting them to walk towards them," Neal looked down and a deep shade of red crossed his cheeks. "You must think I sound like a wuss."
"No not at all, you sounded very... poetic, beautiful even." I shrugged my shoulder and wrapped my arms around his think one. "Most people look at these animals for entertainment, I think you look at them for inspiration. You see deeper within than most."
"You know you do the same," Neal rested his chin on top of my head, "You are like the tiger. Something so beautiful, but I know I should not get close to or I will get hurt." A tear slipped from his eye and he turned away from me.
"Neal, I sorry," I touched his shoulder, but when he turned around again a smile was plastered on his face. No sign of sadness on his face, but I could see he was trying to bury it within his eyes.
"Ice cream, shall we?"

Chapter Three

I dive to the side as a boulder lands feet from where I just stood. Struggling to get back on my feet, I run into a field of wheat just as another boulder hits the ground. From a distance I could hear people screaming. I look up to see a tree sail through the air. What the fuck is happening?
A couple of days ago Neal dropped my off at my school. Sadly it is a boarding school and could only see Neal on the weekends, but he promised that when I see him a room would already be set up for me. For the past three days I have walked around the school, not really knowing where to go.
I have seen some students, but mostly the halls are empty. The school consists of two buildings. The main building is a three story made of brick. The first level is the lobby, cafeteria, and a gym. The second floor is classrooms only and the third floor is the main gym. It has wooden floor panels and sleek light floorings. One wall is literally a wall just for weapons. Guns, swords, maces, tomahawks, and others that look really complicated and dangerous.
My first day here a teacher gave me a whole wardrobe full of tight blue jumpsuits. I am not complaining, but you see everything in these suits. The muscles, the curves, the muscles! Did I forget to mention the muscles? I haven't seen many people, but I have seen a few guys and lets just say, I really don't mind the tight jumpsuits.
Anyways today I was exploring the outside grounds when a bag was placed over my head. I was cuffed and dragged for awhile. Eventually I was pushed into the room I am presently in.
Many other kids my age stood around, some banging the walls, others lying on the ground. It wasn't long until a loud screech was heard from above us. "Welcome third years, this is your test. Show us what you could do, impress us," a deep voice echoed around us. "Your challenge is to use your powers against your foes, which is everyone. Don't kill, only hurt. You may began."
Everyone looked between each other and hell broke out around us.
I crawled through the dirt shoving my bangs out of my face to make sure I could see in front of me. I heard many different sound around me, all screams from others. Sadly I could feel the desire in me, the desire to run out and cause some of those screams, but I pushed that away and crawled on.
I crawled toward a rock that hid in the wheat fields. I sat down and counted in my head to twenty to calm myself down.
How do you expect me to harm anyone? My power is literally killing, I can't kill right now. I poked my head out of the field to look around. Even though it said everyone is our enemy, many people formed groups already. Many more people laid at their feet bleeding.
I ducked back down. Damn school. I felt finger brush at my arm and I jumped back ready to attack if needed. In front of my sat a pretty girl around my age. She had blonde hair that was up in a bun, a beautiful set of blue eyes. She was pretty pale, but I noticed many demons are. She had scratches all up her arms and on her face. "They are ruthless."
"You could say that again," I relaxed a little at the girls small frame and knew she didn't have a thing on me.
"I saw you from where I was hiding, I am sorry if I scared you."
"it is cool, I was getting kind of lonely anyways," I chuckled, but let it flatter at the small girl's expression. "I'm Alex."
"Emily," she lifted her head a little. Showing me the bruise on the side of her face. An explosion was heard a couple of feet away from us and a fire started to burn the wheat.
"Come on, Emily, we need to find a safer place," I grabbed her hand and ran out of the field. Screams were heard behind us, but I ran faster than I have ever before, dragging poor Emily behind me.
******************************************************************************************
We sat in a cave starring at each other. Emily and I have been in here for an hour, neither one of us had enough courage to speak. Many people ran past us, but the bushes and trees covers us from the naked eye. I not sure how Emily even found it.
When it started to get dark, I crawled towards Emily and snuggled up next to her. "These suits won't give us enough protection from the coldness," I whispered. Emily was tense next to me, but I snuggle in deep and let my head fall onto her shoulder.
I was woken by my foot repeatedly kicked. I moaned and rolled onto my side. "Get up princess," I husky voice kicked my side.
I jumped onto my feet and quickly took a defensive stance. A brown head boy stood feet away from me. We both circled each other, eyes squinted. "Where is Emily?"
"Obviously not here," he snarled at me.
"If you hurt her," I jumped, but feeble arms pulled me back. Emily held onto my waist and threw me onto the ground. Apparently she is stronger than she looks.
"Alex, I see you have met Vince, my friend."
"Vince?"
"Yes Vince," the boy held out his hand, but I brushed it aside and stood on my own. "You could be a little more thankful for the guy who brought you guys food."
I looked around at the cooked meat laying on a rock. It smelt wonderful and looked even better. "You caught that?"
"You could say that," He sat by the rock and ripped it into three pieces. "Enjoy." Emily and I sat down and dug into the meat. It still had food in it, just the way I liked it.
"Thank you," I muttered.
"Wait what did you say? I didn't quite catch that."
"To bad because I am not going to say it again,' I stood and brushed off the back of my pants. "There are probably still many demons out there that are starving and already caught the scent of meat. we should leave now if we don't want to be spotted."
"I agree with Alex," Emily stood by me, "lets leave."
For an hour we walked around dodging the scent of other demons. We ran into a group once, but we both wanted peace and ran past each other. Sadly few minutes after they passed us we heard the screams of them from behind us. The only thing that kept me from turning back was the thought that they were not killed. "Why are they doing this?"
"It is to see you could last the longest. You is capable enough on a battlefield."
"But why would they need to know that?"
"To recruit. Surprisingly not many demons volunteer to go against the all and powerful angels," Vince glared at me. I glared back. We both walked towards each other until Emily had to push us apart.
"We need to stick together, even if we are inches apart from ripping each other throats out. Right now I need you both to calm the fuck down," Emily pushed us both onto our butts and walked off.
"She is right you know," Vince pushed himself off the ground and pulled me up with him. "If we are going to get out of this unhurt we need to stop fighting."
"What is the point? Obviously none of us want to be recruited, so why are we fighting to be recruited? It makes no sense."
"Some of us-" Emily tackled us to the ground as a boulder hits just where we were standing. A group of kids walked of to the trees.
"Run!" I grab both of there hands and we run through the trees. Between the three of us, I was the fastest, pulling them behind me, but that didn't get us away from the rocks that were aimed for our heads. The only reason we could still run was because of Zila yelling at me where they were about to hit.
Just as I was hitting full speed, Vince trips, crashing all of us to mud with him. "Fuck it hurts!"
"You need to give him some of your blood," I scream at Emily.
"Why can't you?"
"Just do it!" I slash a cut on Vince's ankle and on Emily's hand. I looked up to see a huge boulder coming our way.
I screamed and lifted my hands above my face. I screamed and screamed, but no impact came. I slowly opened my eyes to see the boulder inches from my face, but it wasn't falling. It was hovering above the three of us. "How are you doing this?" Emily screamed.
I couldn't answer. In the distance I could see the group of kids running towards us. I quickly moved my hands to the left and let the rock fall to the ground.
All three of us covered in mud ran through the trees again until we stopped in front of a mountain. "Where now?"
"Only way to go!" We started to climb the mountain, slipped on crumbing rocks. It didn't help that the bottom of our feet was slick with mud. We climb to a ledge and peered at the kids below us. They were making there way up the mountain, but I focused on the rocks below their feet, causing them to fall back to the ground. "Good work," Emily pats my head.
"Thanks, but I-" a loud rumble stopped me mid sentence. Vince, Emily and I looked above us to see the whole side of the mountain crumble. "Oh shit."

Chapter Four

The blinding light caused me to blink repeatedly. Squinting I looked at Neal who slept in a chair next to me and Vince in a chair by the corner. I pushed Neal's arms off my waist and sat up. The bed squeak lightly under me.
Emily walked in with four cups of coffee and rushed to my side when she saw me awake. "Thank you so much, I owe you my life."
I scratch my head and pushed my bangs away. "I don't know what you are talking about."
"When the half of the mountain fell, you used your powers to stop it."
"My powers?"
"You know, the ability to move things with your mind. You stopped the rocks from squishing us. We stood under there for whole five minutes! It doesn't seem like long, but you were holding hundreds of pounds. Anyways in those five minutes rescuers came in save us, but you block out from using so much power," she took a huge gulp of air. "It might not seem that big, but here."
She handed me a tall cup of coffee. "Am I even aloud to drink that?"
"It will be our little secret," she gave me a timid smile and sat down by Vince. It didn't take long for Neal to wake up. His hair fell in front of his face as he squinted at me and rubbed his eyes.
"I am so glad you aren't dead."
"Thanks me too," I chuckled and pushed his hair away from his eyes. Emily coughed and gave me the look. "Oh Neal this is Emily and Emily this is Neal. I met Emily in the battlefield, she is the reason I didn't die in the cold."
"And she is the reason I didn't die under rocks," Emily smiled at me and lightly pushed on Vince's arm until he awoke. "Come on, I am hungry."
"Why do I have to go?"
"There could be a killer roaming the halls, I need a man by my side," Emily pulled him up and out the door.
"She seems nice," Neal laughed and looked back at me.
"I guess, I only known her for about a couple hours."
"Actually more like two days."
"I was under for two days!"
"Yeah, but look at the bright side," Neal scratched his head and looked down at his shoes. "You missed two days worth of schoolwork?"
"Gee thanks. Now I am behind," I under plugged the IVs from my arm and swung my legs off the side of the bed.
"Come on," Neal grabbed the inside of my elbow and steered me towards a bathroom. "When you are finished, I will being you to my house and show you your room." Neal pushed me into the bathroom and through in a pair of clothes with me.
I looked at what he brought me. Tight leather pants and a pinstriped vest. "You got to be fucking kidding me?" I looked down at the hospital clothes they give us. Groaning I slipped into my clothes.
******************************************************************************************
The castle was much larger up front. Standing tall and proud, I squinted at the glowing bricks and flowers. Everything had a white orb inside them, making the gloomy atmosphere more joyful. "You live like a prince."
"That is because I am."
"Oh yeah," Neal grabbed my hand and dragged me into the main room. A large red sofa stood in the middle of the large room. A pool table of behind it and a flat screen in front. Picture hung around the room. Some of Neal, others of his younger sister. Not one picture showed both of them together. I walked up to one picture of Neal and fell to the ground laughing. "You were such a nerd."
"I wasn't that funny looking," Neal picked me up bridal style while I cried into his shoulder.
"You were so dorky," tears spilt from my eyes I was laughing so hard. Neal hair was cropped short. She had braces and this squinty glasses. In the photo he wore kakis pulled up to his waist and a polo shirt on. "But a cute dorky."
Neal glared down at me, "There is no such thing as a cute dork."
"Well if you were in my high school, I would fall heads over heels for you," I wiped the tears on my cheeks and pressed my face into his chest. Neal felt so good and smelt wonderful too. "You smell good."
"You smelt me?"
"Why yes I did," I tapped my chin. "You smell like... tiger lilies."
"I smell like flowers?"
"Yes," I laughed again. "If it helps, you smell like manly flowers."
"I think you are loopy from the pain killers that are kicking in."
"Nope, I am naturally this happy and funny." I pat his cheek and he set me down on a soft bed. He started to walk away, but I called out to him. "Could you read me a bedtime story?"
"Why?"
"It will help me fall asleep," Minutes passed where Neal just stared at me. "I promise I won't distract you and fall straight to sleep afterwards."
"Promise?"
"On my pinky's life," I laughed again and fell back onto the bed. I watched as Neal walked over towards me. I scooted over and patted the bed next to me. "I don't bite... hard."
Neal slowly laid down next to me and I wrapped my arms around his waist. I placed my head onto his chest and listened to his deep voice lull me into sleep. Dark, inviting sleep.
I woke up to a killer headache and my leg killing me. It took awhile, but my memory eventually came back to me and I slapped myself in the head. Did I really tell Neal he smelt like manly flowers? I crept towards the door and slowly opened it up to the hallway.
Not remembering where how we got up here, I wandered around until I found a set of stairs to my right. Taking two at a time, I made my way into the kitchen where Neal stood shirtless. "Morning," I squeaked.
"Morning Alex," he sat a plate of eggs on the table and carefully watched my movements. Staring back at him, I sat down and devoured the eggs. "How was your sleep?"
"Beautiful," I leaned back in my chair and crossed my arm against my chest. Why did I feel a breeze? I looked down at my clothes from yesterday. Leather pants and vest, how could I forget? "I will be upstairs changing."
I sprinted out of the kitchen and up the stairs. I couldn't remember how many turns it took to get to my room. Ten minutes later, I get fed up and started opening random doors. Most of them where closets, but one held a large piano.
Making my way into the room, I noticed other instruments like the trumpet, a violin, cello, and many more. But my interest was still focused on the piano. I sat down at the piano and ran my finger across the cool keys. "Do you know how to play?"
I jumped, but quickly settled when I saw it was just Neal. "Not really, I learned to play the guitar, but I always wanted to learn the piano. Do you?"
"I know some," Neal made his way over to me and scooted me over, so both of us were sitting on the small bench. Neal played a few keys and asked me to do the same. We went over it a couple of times until I got the hang of those few notes. Then Neal played another set, telling me to do the same.
For hours, Neal and I sat on the bench. Him playing a few keys and I coping. Some times he had to correct me, but most of the time I got it. "Now play everything I taught you together."
I realized it was 'How to Save A Life' by the Fray. A beautiful song that I only heard a few times, but just now recognized it true beauty. I looked down and realized I was still in this stupid leather outfit. Neal must have noticed as well because he cheeks flamed into two tomatoes. "I guess I should leave," we both stood up at the same time, knocking each other both down.
"I'm sorry," he helped me back up.
"It is fine, just my butt." I laughed and it quickly faded when I saw the fire in Neal's eyes. His fingers lightly brushed my cheeks, pushing hair behind my ears. The movement reminded me so much of Casey. My Casey.
I pushed him away, tears falling. "Alex?"
"I'm fine," I pushed past him, running out of the room. Why can't things be simple?

Chapter Five

I stepped over a fallen tree and rose my bow and arrow. The feel of the string and the ressistance from pulling back the arrow felt good after the past days of sulking in Neal's house. Behind me I could hear the creek I pasted an hour ago and by my right the coo of a bird.

Turning in a 360 degreee rotation, I made my way back to the creek, where most likely an animal would be. It has been two hours since I left the city and I haven't seen or smelt an animal or mythicla creature. It was definitaly unuasal because when Neal was taking me to the city a week ago, the forest was swarming with creatures.

"All the animal are hidding from you," a voice called out from behind me. Turning around, I came face to face with Casey. A swarm of emotions took hold of my heart and was playing tug-o-war with it. "That thing you killed a week ago has your scent all over it. You will be lucky enough if a animal comes fifty feet from you."

"What are you doing here?"

"Oh, you know," Casey leaned on a tree and smiled at me, "enjoing the view."

I held my bow and arrow up and pointed it towards his chest. The green spots were appearing before my vision again and was giving me a major headache. "You came back to finsih off what you started?"

Casey's eyes flickered towards my bow and his smile fell, a flicker of sadness passed his face. "I didn't mean for that to happen. I swear it wasn't me."

"What you're saying was someone controled your body and was trying to kill me?"

Casey's eyes flicker to the ground, "exactly."

My heart beated stopped for a few seconds. I wanted to rush over to him and comfort him, but I still wasn't sure if he was true to his words. "How do I know if I could trust you? You could be setting a trap for me again. There could be a group of angels behind me and I wouldn't now it."

"There is not a group of angels behind you, but you can trust me. I am only a gaurdain angel, which means that there are groups of angels more powerful than me. If they are ranking higher than me, then any of them could posses my body. Even my angel could posses my body," Casey stepped forward and reached out his hand. "If I was going to hurt you, you would have been dead by now."

"That is reasurring. How did you find me?"

"Once you left the parking lot, they beat me up a little bit, but let me free. I made sure no one was following me before I followed you. I knew you would come out sooner or later, so I waited."

"You waited for me?"

"Yeah," Casey lowered his head, a deep blush forming on his cheeks.

"Why did you come?"

"Oh, right." Casey stepped forward, but this time I didn't protested. It has been so long that I have seen him, that instead of the one step I was planning to take, I was running towards him, jumping bushes and flying through the air. I jumped into his arms and he swung me around. "I am so sorry."

"I guess it wasn't you fault," I shrugged, the feeling of laughter bubbled inside me. "I missed you."

"I missed you too, Alex," he pulled me in for another hug and kissed the top of my head. "So, tell me about this demon school."

"It is actually fun. I made like two friends out of the thousands of demons, but I am having fun."

"Good, and they are not working you to death?"

"I haven't done anything yet."

"Why not?"

"Because I-I," Looking down I shrugged my shoulders, "just because."

"Alex?"

"Yeah?"

"What are you not telling me?"

I pulled my hair apart and showed him the scar I got from the accident. "I might have been caught under some boulders. But don't worry, I didn't die."

"Good to know," Casey chuckled. He wrapped his arms around my waist and I put my arms around his neck. He started to hum a sweet melody and swayed us back and forth. Together we moved through the forest, the only music guiding us was nature's music and Casey's humming.

We both stopped when we heard my name being called from our right. I looked at Casey and back to the thick forest. "Meet me back here tomorrow?"

"Of course, " I smiled and untangled myself from him. I started to walk away, but Casey tugged my arm and pulled me back. Running his finger through my hair, he pulled me in for a mouth watering kiss. It was short, sweet and everything I needed to get me through tomorrow.

Opening my eyes, he was already gone and Neal was walking though the bushes. "Are you alright?"

"I am perfect," I smiled and linked arms with him. "Come on, we are going to miss dinner."
