Introduction:
I was supposed to be the last one. I was supposed to be the only “freak”, “outcast”, “witch”, but now I don’t know who to trust. I can feel The Power awakening. Am I supposed to fight it all alone? Is the fate of my friends supposed to befall me?
The last time I fought The Power, I lost everything. I lost my love, my friends, and the will to trust people. I felt like an empty shell. I felt like a person who was locked inside of their own body. With the power I have, I couldn’t even save my friends, so how in the world would I be able o save myself?
After the fight, my elder’s told me I was the last one of my kind. They told me everyone was gone, and they couldn’t come back. That there power was destroyed, so it could not be reborn in another. Is that really the truth? Are my friends really gone? No, it’s not the truth.
I can feel the shifts in the wind, the warmth of the sun around me, the day light growing, the cold long mornings, and most of all, the probing headaches. Those are the powers of my friends. There power is still alive and making magic in the air. I can feel the calls of my friends. There soft whisper’s of promises.
I also can feel my own power growing. My strength that I thought I lost is returning. Is it returning because of a battle that is yet to come, or does it stir because I can sense my friends? I do not understand what is going on right now, but I must remain strong. I need to be ready. For if what I fear is going to happen, then right now, I know I am not ready.
I am one of the six elements. The elements are Fire, who can burn buildings to a crisp. Wind, whose power can knock down the greatest mountains in the world. Ice, whose glare can freeze the warmest heart. Light, who can light up the darkest cave? Strength, who can punch through the greatest metal. Lastly, Seer, who can move things with just a glance. We each have a way to gain strength, and my way is to believe.
I have the power of a rhinoceroses charge. The stealth of a cheetah. The graceful movements of a prancing gazelle. I stand for power, strength, toughness, and above all, honor. I am the element of strength. My name is Fyte (fight), and I was supposed to be the last one of my kind.
Chapter One:
Fyte stared at the abandoned dojo in front of her. The building was old, the roof leaked, and the outside walls were sprayed with graffiti, but she didn’t care. This was the closes thing she had ever had to a home. This place held her only memory of when she was a normal human being. Okay close to normal.
Fyte had always been an outcast. People were scared of here because of the way she talked and dressed. The word gangster came from her, but that’s not the way Fyte looked at her self. She never even would hurt a fly. People were just too judgmental.
Fyte never had the memory of a normal child. No matter how much she tried to remember her parent’s faces, she just couldn’t. She had no memory of laughing and opening presents during Christmas. Her only memory was contained her at this abandoned dojo. She could remember laughing as she dodged punches her teacher was throwing at her. She remembered hitting him square on the nose, and he looked stunned. Worried she reached out towards him, but he started laughing really hard. Then the two of them were laughing so hard that they were rolling on the floor. That memory was the ting she cherished most.
Fyte sighed as she opened the abandoned dojo’s doors. The only real reason why she came back to this place was because of her teacher’s death. He had died two days ago, and she was debating on coming here or not. This place terrified her so much because it showed her how vulnerable she really was.
“Hey Teach, can you hear me wherever you are? If you can, did you die hating me? Please know the only reason I left was because I had too. I had other things I had to do. So please know that.” Fyte found herself whispering through the old dojo. Fyte stood still and quietly listened to the wind. The wind brought her echo through the dojo, and she could her question being repeated. She sighed and shook her head.
“Child fear not. I could never hate you. This dojo is not a prison, so you can come and leave as you go.” A voice echoed through the dojo.
Fyte’s eyes widened. That voice she just heard was no dream. It was her old teacher. She smiled and took a deep breath.
“Then all I can say to you Teach is, rest in peace.” Fyte’s grin widened. Then somehow, she knew that her teacher was also smiling.
“Thank you dear. I think I’ve heard that a million of times now, but before I go, there is something I’d like to tell you. You, my student, are never alone. Even when you feel like you’ve lost everything, I am here to tell you that you haven’t.” The old man probably smiled again as Fyte felt his presence leave. The smile on her face slowly turned into a frown. She dropped to her knees and cried.
“But I am alone. They aren’t coming back, and never can. This gift I was so gracefully blessed is a curse. I want to be normal. Most of all, I wish I never met him.” Fyte bit her tongue as the words came out of her mouth. She knew that that’s what she’s wanted to say for a long time, but she knew in the back of her heart that the words weren’t true. If she never became an element then she would have never met him. Him, the love of her life. The very person she watched die. He was the only person who actually knows how fragile she really is.
Fyte paused as she felt a surge of power. Her powers always surged whenever she thought of him. She looked at one of the metal door nearby and sighed. With a quick movement she swung a punch at the door. The door let out a creak at her fists passed through the door.
Fyte gasped as a sharp pain sliced through her mind. She suddenly whipped her head around and searched the room with her eyes. She knew that pain can only come from a person messing with another’s mind. She hadn’t had that kind of pain since his death. He was the last person to ever have the ability to enter her mind. Fyte threw up a barrier in her mind that told the stranger she knew he was there.
Fyte yanked her fist out of the door and smiled proudly at the hole in it. She suddenly had a dizzy spell as she reached into her pocket and pulled out an energy bar. She threw the wrapper on the floor, and left the building.
