The Quiet

Andrew had no idea why he kept looking behind him to the street that was far away from him by now, but he couldn’t stop himself from checking just in case. Maybe he was paranoid or maybe it was his checkers OCD kicking in or whatever. He wasn’t entirely sure what the reason was, but he was very certain that the reason for this obsession was the noise that happened from somewhere out in the remaining part of the city closest to him and his friends. Not the alleyways, they were long gone by this point in time, the buildings were thinning out leaving the streets and road nearly bare, almost as bare as a dirt road or a country road that Bram would stunt drive down late at night.

The turn in the road was coming up in just a few steps and in two minutes they would be crossing the road then into the other part of the city then finally, they could get into their car and go home. Honestly, Andrew wanted nothing more than to go home, he didn’t want to be out here any longer which was a bit out of character for him or rather the character he had created for himself, Bram and Ronald even if they didn’t know it. But he didn’t care to even attempt to mask his fear this time around, everything about this was getting to him in ways that nothing else he encountered before ever could.

Although he couldn’t see the faces of both Bram and Ronald since they had their backs turned, but, the boy swore he could almost sense the nervousness and uneasiness from the both of them. He didn’t know how he could sense the fear from another person, he just could almost like he had been born with a sixth sense much like the title of that one movie the trio had watched one night at home. But for one reason or another, it almost felt much stronger than his own feelings of unease, but why in the hell would it be that strong?

Andrew swallowed harshly, trying to force down a lump in his throat as he slapped his two hands against his face loudly in an attempt to get a hold of himself, probably a little too loudly as Bram shifted his head to look slightly behind him at the blond boy. Andrew stopped slapping himself in the face upon spotting this glare, he took in a deep breath through his nose to try to calm his nerves before pulling his hands away from his face then lowering his head back to the streets. Ronald shot a glance at Bram then at Andrew, the latter having a rather flat yet fearful expression while the former seemed concerned?

Andrew looked up to try to catch a glance at Ronald, but the redhead had already turned his head back in the direction of the road that was heading forward, so Andrew couldn’t confirm if that was the case. Andrew sighed heavily under his breath, turning his head to face the ground as he set a hand against his face to rub away the stress he was feeling right now. To his surprise, it actually worked. That is, until the boy’s ears picked up on what could be described as a noise sounded from nearly right behind him. It seemed to be footsteps or at the very least, Andrew believed the noises were footsteps.

It was rather hard to tell as the noises were a good distance away from
