A good night sleep
The giant parabolic antennas were facing the night sky in the Arizona desert. Each and every one of them receiving radio signals from outer space. The research team were hoping to catch a message that would be intelligible. Instead so far they caught only gamma rays coming from the immense depths of space that were distorted by the electromagnetic fields of different planets. But one night “God”- Lazarus thought “I will remember those moments if I live an eternity.” Yes one night they caught something fluctuating and continuous.
Lazarus the leader and physicist of the team was looking at the spectrometer of his highly sophisticated computer when that message arrived. They had to work on it though. It came as an X-ray and at first they ignored it. But it kept repeating on the same wavelength at precisely two minutes` intervals. They ran all the known algorithms available.
Finally the central PC was showing them a triple DNA spiral that was completely alien to all human biologists and medics. The translation softwares were also set in motion. There were only three simple letters to be read SOS.
Lazarus and the observatory crew felt strangely tired. And they slept. They slept 20 years in a roll. When they awoke they saw a dying red sun hanging low from the middle of the sky. They were being greeted simultaneously. “Welcome to Centauri humans.”
