When I was lIttle girl I wished on birthday candles and coins. Golden coins my grandma would give me to throw into the old fountain in her back yard. I'd wait for the little splash eyes clinched tight, eager with anticipation of something that would never come true. I'd wish for endless summer nights and icecream.
