After two weeks at sea the frozen north came into view of the ferry. It was snowing lightly as Corey stepped onto the bow and saw the frozen continent come in to his view. His best friend Wally joined him where he was standing.
“The captain says we’ll dock soon. Hard to believe we’re finally here.”
“Tell me about it. Hard to believe how long it took us.”
“More so that we made it without being attacked by pirates.”
“Yeah no kidding.”
The ferry soon docked and all passengers disembarked onto the frozen land. Thankfully the city of Sprague was close to the docks. The group of five made their way to the inn and checked in for at least the night.
“Ok so now that we’re here now what?” Iris asked as they got comfortable in the inn commons.
“What else? Get clues to the location of the realm amulet.” Came from Wally.
“Provided anyone here has info.” Came from Aimee.
As the day worn on more and more people gathered in the inn commons and as the evening meal was consumed tales were exchanged.
“I have to admit when I saw that frost dragon I was worried. Thankfully the dragoon scale I had around my neck got me out of there safe and sound.”
“You meet a frost dragon?”
“How did you get a dragoon scale? A dragoon riddle is harder to answer than a sphinx’s riddle.”
“What’s a dragoon?”
“Wally!” *smack*
Ow!”
“You don’t know what a dragoon is?” Aimee asked.
“No.”
“Well a dragoon is a dragon with a human like appearance. You’d know that if you bothered to read the dragon guide book.” Came from Sonia.
“Dragon guide book? So tell me does this book say how difficult a dragoons riddle is to answer?” Aimee asked
“Actually it does. It also says you have time limit in which to answer it’s riddle.” Came from Iris.
“Well that book of yours is right about that. I was given a time limit to answer the dragons riddle. Thankfully I was able to answer it in the two hours I was given.”
“How about you lot? Any good stories to tell?”
“Well last month we took on and beaten some pirates on our way to the southern tropics.”
“Pirates? Really? I did hear that they attacked a ferry out of Picca a few weeks ago.”
“Good to know you won your dungeon dual.”
“Please! Everyone knows that pirates are easy enough to beat pirates in a dungeon dual.”
“Really? How come?” Corey asked. He thought that he and Wally were really good dualists when they and Aimee beat the pirates in that dual.
“Pirates are known to fight between them selves during a dual. That makes them easy to beat.”
“So tell me where are all of you from any way?”
“We five are from Mainland”
“I’m from the Southern Tropics.”
“Really now? Show me some of your dice. That should tell the truth.” As requested they removed their attack dice from their dice bags. While the attack dice belonging to the five outlanders were a normal shade of blue Aimee’s attack dice were a lighter shade of blue. The sword icons were also different colors.
“Well it looks like you are telling the truth after all.”
“You can tell that just by looking at our dice?”
“Dice very by continent. Here take a look at some of mine.”
The traveler pulled out his attack dice Corey say what he meant. The travelers attack dice were crystal clear with the exception of the sword markings which were the same color of mainland attack dice sword markings.
“You see? Dice very by continent.”
“What part of the north are you from?”
“I’m from the city of Poenari on the other side of the continent.”
“What brings you to Sprague then?”
“Business. I run a weapons shop back home. I’m here to pick up materials.”
“Materials?”
“Some of the materials I work with only come from the
