Prologue.

The night time air tasted of iron.

Metallic and cold.

Kaiden's head felt like a weight on my shoulder, his breathing ragged. I braced both of our weights onto the wall and managed to wrap one arm protectively aorund his broad shoulders and cautiously glance around to make sure we weren't followed.

I feel bad for him. He was basically putting his life on the line for my sake and I've done nothing but cause him trouble. "Let me ruin your life, I love you."

He...loves me. Enough to ruin my life and save it all in one day. Kaiden, the criminal actually has feelings for me. Is it even true? I don't know anymore.  I tighten my hold on Kaiden as he suddenly shivers.

Maybe, I'm over reacting, and maybe...maybe I've developed feelings for him as well. I take another quick glance of my surroundings and instantly tensed as a daunting figure appears from the shadows with a smile on his face that read I have you right where I want you.

"Oh look what I have found," exclaimned Major. "Kaidence and his...concubine."

Major stood in all black with his hands clasped in front of him.

"I'm not a concubine." I retorted back while gently shaking Kaiden's arm as an attempt to wake him without Major realizing. Major threw his head back and laughed. His laugh echoed throughout the area and set me on edge even more. After for what seemed like ages, he then begings to approach me stalkingly without the smile leaving his face.

"Oh but I believe you are."

Fear and anger boiled in my chest, causing my breathing to deepen as he picked up his feet and began to stride towards me and Kaiden. The constant click, clack of his black shoes hitting the floor sent alarms off in my head , telling me to "Move!" and "Get away from him!" but I couldn't. Kaiden was too heavy and even if I did manage to get him off of me, what could I do then? I can't fight, Kaiden has already proved that to me when he first kidnapped me and forced me to stay with his "clan". Not only that but Kaiden looks so badly hurt that I don't think that he'll be waking up any time soon to come to my rescue. I am completely helpless, alone, and at the mercy of Major. "Kaiden," I whimpered in a small voice "Help me."

"Damn it, shut up already." said Kaiden slowly lifting his head up off my shoulder. Major paused abruptly. I gasped, Kaiden's alright. Without looking at me he staggered into a standing position in between me and Major. A human sheild. My human shield.

"Sorry but, we..." he began gesturing to me and him "Need to get going. So if you could be a dear and get the hell outta my way, that would be great."

"I don't think that's going to be physically possible. You're in my way and with you not only injured but unarmed , I can easily eliminate you and be on with my plans." Major said advancing once more. Kaiden reached inside his shirt and pulled out what looks to be...a gun.

Since when did he have a weapon, and why didn't he use it before?  I thought looking at the situation that was currently taking place before me.

"Who said I was unarmed. That'd leave me with a bad rep."  Major stopped walking towards us once more with a shocked expression. "Oh my, what a troublesome predicament but pardon me asking asking but why would you waste your time with that?" Major said glancing at me. A thing?! He is so rude!! I thought angrily. Using the wall as my support I stood up behind Kaiden.

" 'Scuse me, but I am not a thing!" I interjected. "Shutup!" Kaiden whispered irritably over his shoulder.

I shut my mouth. "Anyway. She is not to be recognized as a thing okay? She's someone I actually care about for once M."

Major crossed his arms, his smile falling to a sneer. " And why is that Kaidence?"

Kaiden looked back at me, a smirk playing on his lips. "It's Kaiden. And the reason is simple. I got her knocked up. Reason enough for ya'?"

My mouth dropped in extreme surprise at what he just said. He said that I'm...I'm pregnant? Excpecting?

"I wasn't aware you had such chivalry. I have to say I'm appalled." replied Major disdainfully.

Neither did I. I thought unable to move. I didn't know that this one person was capable of ruining my life twice but he just in only a few words. Not only am I a wanted fugitive, now I'm an expecting wanted fugitive. How can this get any better?

Chapter 1: The beginning

The sun peeked through my blinds to invade my sleep.

With a disgruntled groan I grabbed my cover and heaved it over my head in an attempt to fall back asleep, only to tumble to the floor with a loud "Ompf."

For the moment I laid sprawled on the floor ,entangled by my covers and began to think over my day. And it was by far...not so well.

Moving very sluggishly, I detangled  myself from the covers with my feet and pushed myself up into a sittting positon. A detatched sigh escaped foom my lips and after a period of silence as I  stood up and went to take on the day.

I dressed in a cream colored top that flows on the ends, and pair of blue jeans, and flats. I turned back to take a look at my dishieveled bed and covers and shrugged.

It seems pretty alright to me. I grabbed the jacket that hung from my bedside and walked out my room and into the kitchen to grab something quick to eat. Upon reaching the kitchen, the smell of bacon stopped me in my tracks.

"Mmmm, what is that smelll?" I said with a knowing smile. My mother chuckled to herself from behind the stove. With spatula in hand, she leaned over the stove with the pan of sizzling bacon.

I. Love. Bacon, with a passion.

"It's food sweetie. Come on and sit down, it's just about finished." she said without looking up from the pan.

"Ok." I chirped sitting down on a nearby chair. I waited patiently as she reached acros the stove and grabbed two plates and placed them on the counter behind her. She then picked up the sizzling pan of bacon and with spatula in hand, guided them onto a plate with some already cooked scrambled eggs.

"Food's ready if you want to eat," she said over her shoulder. "but I already know what you're going to say."

"Yep. " I replied happily. I quickly got up from where I sat, grabbed a plate from the sink and began to make a master sandwhich of bacon and eggs.

After I finished I quickly sat down and began eating before I even got the chance to admire it.

"You act like I don't feed you." mom said tantalizingly. I finished a couple more bited of my sandwhich before I said anything. "Well, you could feed me a bit 'more'," "Don't you try it." She interrupted in a firm yet playful tone.

"I'm kidding momma." I joked.

"Of course you were."

We talked about random things as we eat. Actually, it mostly consisted of me talking about random things that popped into my head and my mom occasionally inputing her opinion here and there while chewing thoughtfully on the food from her plate. After we both finihed our breakfeast meal, I took the dishes to the sink, washed them, and stacked them on the counter beside the sink. A basic motion that quickly turned into an everyday practice. Mom will finish them at a later time because she seems to need something to do when I'm gone.

I quickly grabbed by bag from where I last left it and slipped out the door, giving a quick peck on the cheek of my mother.
