Chapter

1

It was a clear warm day, perhaps 80 - 85 degrees with the sky being a hue blue with wisps of white clouds, perhaps these clouds look like a thin half slice of uniced angel food cake that has been stretched to the point. If stretched much more, it would tear into perhaps 5 - 6 small pieces.

The bay had a light chop. It had light waves that gave it a rippled effect. One would think that the bay would be crystal clear, with a blue - green tint. One would think that one could look into the bay and see clear to the bottom. One would think that there would be plenty of fish in the bay - perhaps an assortment of exotic fish - blow fish, lemon fish and plenty of other unusual fish that are found in the Ocean.

The Ocean, a deep, dark, mysterious place. What lurks below in the dark depths? What lurks beyond the investigations of “Sea Quest”? Can it be only the dark depths of the Ocean with magnificent fish - perhaps, the Blue lantern - fish, Hatchet fish, Bristlemouth and the Tripod fish 1 lurking in the depths or could there be much more, perhaps more than the mind would want to process?

Earlier I mentioned that the bay was an offshoot of the Ocean.

The bay was really very calm. It was a great or fantastic place to have a summer beach party or boat party, plus, perhaps a fishing party. At one time, the fish were biting, the water was clear perhaps enough to see to the bottom, also the various fish that were there for the picking - the Ocean Sunfish, Tarpon, Winter Flounder, Pacific Halibut and a lot more.

However; the bay became popular with tourists, picnickers, High School & University or College students, fishermen and fisherwomen.

When this happened, the clear water turned into waters littered with cans of all types, paper, glass & plastic bottles. Not only these things, more litter that can be described within these pages.

When the waterfowl felt the grime, slime and litter, they made a quick turn and headed out to sea or the Ocean, thinking that they were in safe waters, however; not that better off.

If you looked, there was debris, paper, oil, chemicals, plastics, debris, etc. did not stay only on top of the water, it seeped farther and farther, deeper and deeper into the Ocean. It seeped to the very depths of the Ocean, to the depths that are not known to the world above.

Above the water were a group of students, perhaps around the age of 18, the age when it was time to go off to the University or College, to choose their careers and excel.

This group of six guys and six gals were of the middle or upper class. Their parents worked in white collar professions. Therefore; they had a comfortable life.

Even though their parents worked and their family’s income was high enough so that they did not have to work, they all wanted to work. They worked at almost everything. It did not matter what the job, one of the twelve would take the job. When they took the job, the employer could depend on them. They were really good students and workers. However; they did have one problem.

Their parents knew the type of people that they were. They knew that their children were good - excellent students, that they were your typical High School students that were decent, polite, partiers. They had their own group, they stayed out of trouble. Their parents knew that, therefore the parents held a meeting and decided to give their children a day and night in the bay with the option of heading out into the Ocean to find an adventure or just to have a good time.

The parents knew that this was one of the last free times this group would spend together at this point in their life. They, the parents knew, once in the University or College, everyone’s outlooks take a different form. Therefore; this last summer, this trip should be one to last a lifetime. Unbeknownst to any parent in the room, beknownst to their children, this trip would be a trip to remember, a trip to remember for all time, especially to Craig, Craig who had the worst problem of all of them.

The parents decided to gather a certain sum of money. When they felt they had donated what they could to the cause, they presented the money to them.

With the money, they - the group rented a power boat for a day and a night that was loaded with every piece of technical equipment possible, also, with everything everyone would want when throwing an all-night party.

Chapter

2

The day was clear - the sky was a hue blue. The sun was warm - which meant that the temperature hovered between 80 - 85 with thin clouds - clouds that looked like they were pieces of thin, uniced Angel food cake, stretched to the point that if stretched anymore, it would tear into five or six pieces.

The group loaded their coolers with lemonade, Kool - Aid, ice tea and soft drinks. With that many people, each person had their own taste in what they wanted to drink. Also, the party food - such as popcorn, potato chips, taco chips & salsa, hamburgers and pizza was loaded onto the boat, plus everything else that resembled party food was loaded into the boat.

When the boat was loaded, the travel plan o.k.’d with the twelve on the boat, the engine started, the time was 8:00 a.m. The party was on the way.

Craig

“Well people, let the party begin.”

Raech

“Fix me a soft drink Craig.”

Craig

“Way to go, what is your pleasure?”

Raech

“Whatever you’re having.”

Craig

“One soft drink coming.”

Wayne

“I’m going to fix some eggs. Who would like some?”

The Group

“We all would!”

Wayne

“Your wish is my command. Eggs and bacon coming up.”

Craig

“Whoa, what the heck was that!?”

Wayne

“What are you people doing up there. You are going to ruin my eggs and bacon.”

Craig

“Nothing. We are just standing around talking.”

Wayne

“It’s not my fault if the eggs and bacon do not turn out.”

Mendy

“Don’t worry Wayne, we will eat them no matter how they look.”

Gabe

“Craig, take a look at the compass. The compass needle is going wild!”

Craig

“It sure is. They were supposed to check the boat before we took it.”

Gabe

“They didn’t do a very good job.”

Wayne

“You want your eggs up on deck or down here?”

Nance

“Up here. Give me another lemonade. What should I do with this cup?”

Craig

“Throw it overboard. Everyone, throw your plastic cups, cans, extra food, etc. over the side. It won’t hurt anything or anybody.”

Mendy

“You sure it is o.k.?”

Craig

“Yeah, what can it hurt? These things will just wash out in the Ocean. Don’t give it another thought.”

Raech

“Everyone, we are not in the bay anymore, I think we are out in the Ocean.”

Craig

“We can’t be out in the Ocean….on second thought,
