INTRODUCTION
Isaiah 66:15- ‘’For behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with His chariots like a whirlwind, to render His anger with fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire.’’
The term “fire of God” is often used symbolically in the Bible to portray the presence of God, the power of God, His judgment, His purifying work and, as His emblem of the anointing.
Fire is a strange and fearful weapon. No power can come against the fire of God and not get roasted and burn to ashes. The dragon can survive anywhere but cannot survive in the fire. When your life carries the fire of God you will be too hot for the devil, to handle. If you notice backwardness, manipulation, prayerlessness, oppression in the dream, it is an indication of the fact that your fire has gone out. You need to come to the presence of God for fresh fire. The fire of God will help you preserves your life, career, business, and ministry. It will also consume your enemy.
CHAPTER ONE
GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE
Deuteronomy 9:3- ‘’Therefore understand today that the LORD your God is He who goes over before you as a consuming fire. He will destroy them and bring them down before you; so you shall drive them out and destroy them quickly, as the LORD has said to you.’’
Exodus 24:17- ‘’The sight of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.’’
Deuteronomy 4:24- ‘’For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.’’
Pray like this: My life, carry the fire of God, in the name of Jesus Christ. (Shout it several times)
One way in which the Holy Spirit manifests Himself at times, is like fire. In fact, the last time that the Holy Spirit appears visibly in Scripture is as “seven lamps of fire burning before the throne of God.” Fire announces the presence of God.
Revelation 4:5- ‘’And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne which are the seven Spirits of God.’’
In Hebrew 12:29, the writer of Hebrews makes a simple, but profound, statement: “Our God is a consuming fire.”
He does not say that God is like a fire, but that God is a fire. The writer of Hebrews is not speaking of God the Father, or of God the Son, but of God the Holy Spirit. He actually is a fire—a consuming fire.
At various points in the history of Israel, the Holy Spirit came down among the people as a fire. In the tabernacle in the wilderness, when Aaron had offered all the appointed sacrifices, fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.
In Solomon’s case, when Solomon had finished praying at the dedication of his temple, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the temple. And the priests could not enter the house of the LORD, because of the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’S house. (11 Chronicle 7:1)
God can turn you to fire in the spirit realm and nobody toils with fire.
What does Consuming means? To Destroy, To Waste, Make It useless.
This means that fire in the spirit realm can consume, waste, destroy, and make useless anything.
Whether it is witchcraft coven, meeting in the water, plantation of infirmity, the fire present in the spirit realm; which is God himself can consume them.
The consuming fire of God will help you preserve your life, business, marriage, and ministry. It will also consume your enemy. When you lack fire you notice prayerlessness, depression, oppression in the dream and you will be having negative dreams always. The way out is the fire of the Holy Ghost. Your life needs the fire of the Holy Ghost for you to continue to shine and have a total victory.
You need to respect fire, if you transgress its laws, it will burn you. Fire is hot; its power can destroy anything. Fire is amazing and so powerful!
Fire has been around since creation, when Adam and Eve were driven out of Eden, the Bible talked about the ‘’flaming sword’’ (Genesis 3:24). God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah by fire.
Genesis 19:24- ‘’Then the Lord rain upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven.’’
In Egypt “there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous” (Exodus 9:24).
Nadab and Abihu offered “strange fire before the LORD. . . . And there went out fire from the LORD and devoured them” (Leviticus 10:1,2).
In Korah’s uprising, “a fire from the LORD, and consumed” them.’’ (Numbers 16:35).
Malachi predicted a future day of burning (Malachi 4:1).
In the New Testament Jesus spoke graphically about going into “hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched!” (Mark 9:43).
He also told of a rich man who died and was “tormented in this flame” (Luke 16:24).
One day Jesus will have to say to those who reject him, “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41).
The Apostle Paul wrote that Jesus would come in a ‘’flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God” (II Thessalonians 1:8).
Jude mentioned, “Others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire” (verse.23).
John wrote, “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15).
From Genesis to Revelation the Bible cries out the hard but necessary word, “FIRE!”
Fire is not to be toiled or played with; fire is something in the spirit realm that is used when all means of separation have failed. Fire is powerful.
Psalm 50:3- ‘’Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before Him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about Him.’’
Psalm 18:8- ‘’There went up a smoke out of His nostrils, and fire out of His mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.’’
Fire came out of God’s mouth to devour His enemies.
SOME MAJOR EFFECTS OF FIRE
Fire has not respect; when you throw fire into the forest, it does not discriminate between the elephant and the ant; it consumes all. When there is a fire outbreak in the forest all the animals will run helter scatter.
Fire is destructive and powerful. Spiritually, it can warn us of impending danger ahead. However, the advantage of fire is a factor of an early warning which would create a sign of safety.
The Bible describes God as “a consuming fire’’, so it is not surprising that fire often appears as a symbol of God’s presence.
Examples include the burning bush (Exodus 3:2), the Shekinah glory (Exodus 14:19; Numbers 9:15-16), and Ezekiel’s vision (Ezekiel 1:4).
Fire has many times been an instrument of God’s judgment (Numbers 11:1, 3; 2 Kings 1:10, 12) and a sign of His power (Judges 13:20; 1 Kings 18:38).
No wonder the Psalmist invoked burning coals of fire upon his enemy.
Psalm 140:10- ‘’Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pets that they rise not up again.’’
You are the apple of God’s eyes. Any power or evil personality that troubles you shall be consumed by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Psalm 11:6- ‘’Upon the wicked He shall rain snares, fire, and brimstone, and a horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.’’
The destroying fire of God shall consume and destroy all your enemies, in the name of Jesus.
PRAYER POINTS
CHAPTER TWO
TURN ME TO FIRE
Pray like this: Lord, turn me to fire, in the name of Jesus. (Shout it several times)
Psalm 18:6-8- ‘’In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.’’
The greatest thing that can happen to a believer is to encounter the God of fire. No one encounters the God of fire and remains the same because our God is an awesome God that operate and manifest via fire.
Psalm 18:12-13 - ‘’At the brightness that was before Him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire. The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.’’
Pray like this: Lord, anoint my tongue with a coal of fire, in the name of Jesus.
When your tongue is anointed with a coal of fire you will become the carrier of the fire of God.
Psalm 18:14-‘’Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.’’
When you speak, thunder-fire like lighting will discomfit your oppressors and oppressions.
Psalm 18:28- ‘’For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.’’
The fire of God will light your candle and destroy your darkness. In other words, all the stronghold of darkness will be terminated out of your life.
In the book of Matthew 3:11, John the Baptist speaking; “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.”
He said you have not seen anything but someone greater than me is coming; He (Jesus Christ) will baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.
Acts 2:1-4 -‘’ And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in
