I watched The Wire on Netflix last weekend, and although I never watched the whole series when it was on, I decided to marathon it while I had some free time. It was an interesting show with intricate storylines that kept you guessing up until the end, but one thing that caught my attention in particular was Marlyne Barrett’s character Avon Barksdale’s weight loss and his tips on how to lose weight. I'm a huge fan of Marlyne Barrett and watched her on TV when she was living in New York City and had a career as an actress. I really admired her natural hair and the way she seemed to have balance between her personal life and work life. However, I've read that she has struggled with weight loss for much of her life, so these tips may not be realistic for everyone. In addition, while it's admirable that she would go to such extremes to get healthy, it also doesn't help people who don't have access to a fitness trainer or gym membership. It's still important though because if it worked for her, it can work for others too!
