Avier stopped in his tracks when he reached the door. He lifted his head, searching for the source of the melodic feminine voices. “What? Don’t tell me you’re asking if I hear those babes singing? Anyone could, probably from a mile away. They’re loud enough.”
Doctor White’s grin got bigger as he reached the door. “Really?” He opened it. “Bernard, get in here.”
Bernard entered the room, scanning the area. “What? Is anything wrong, Sir?”
“Not really. I just wanted to ask you something. Do you hear anything at all?”
Bernard shifted his gaze from Doctor White to Avier and back. “Um, no, Sir. I just hear the electricity humming and the slight hiss of air conditioning unit. Why?”
Doctor White kept his gaze on Avier. “Oh, it’s nothing. That’s all. You can go now.”
Bernard stepped out.
Avier narrowed his eyes. How could he not hear this music? It was getting louder and more persistent? “Okay, you got my attention. Why can we hear it? Assuming that you can. And where does it come from?”
“Sit, and I’ll brief you.”
