Love
Whispering to himself he sat down next to a bed. The room was dark and smelled of dust. On the bed was a woman around the same age as the man. He was 25 with dark hair, and an aged face that seemed older now with the slow passing of his wife the last year.
It had pained him to see her suffering of cancer. He had wished that she could just pass on easily and painlessly, though she did not. And now, a look of peace finally on her face, he smiled the first smile in over a year.
Mercy
Kneeling there, stock still, he saw his target. A large panther lounged on a tree branch; it’s large mouth stretching in a wide yawn. He raised his rifle resting the stock on his shoulder he lined up his sights. Setting his finger on the trigger he steadied himself.
Slowly pulling the trigger he heard what sounded like the cry of a young cat. Letting the pressure off the trigger he saw the panther stand, stretch and jump down to its young. The heartless hunter had found the most treasured prey; let it pass, only to gain a treasure worth more.
Salvation
Swords slashing air, the ring of steel on steel rang through the air. Sparks flew off the swords as the two men battled on. The battle raged, each enemy sweating with the heat of battle. One saw an opening, lunged forward, the other man noticing his mistake tried to parry.
The attacking sword stopped just before the frightened mans gut. Before the man realized he was spared, the other rammed into him. The force knocked the other man to the ground. The other walked up, kicked the scared mans swords away, knelt, and helped him up. The Honor of Brothers!
