The trip was long, agonizingly long, making several pit stops for her uncle Kyle because of his small bladder. As they started the trip again after the third pit stop, they hit town, heading for the side where she knew he lived from coming as a little kid, yet she had always had her mom and dad by her side, but not now, now all she had was her uncle because of some idiot drunk driver who decided it wasn't enough to just kill the poor deer, but her parents too, and himself almost but not enough because he was to be in prison the rest of his life for the murder of two and a deer.
Evelyn stepped out of the car when he parked, her long hair fluttering around her, she grabbed her suitcases after closing the door to his old looking car, she couldn't name what it was but it must have been a Toyota or something close to that.
She lugged her two heavy suitcases upstairs and to a room where he had told her to go.
It contained a large brown bed and a balcony which she walked out onto, it was right next to the woods, perfect for climbing down to the woods, or jumping to a nearby tree.
Heading back inside, Evelyn started unpacking, knowing for a year she would be here, until she bought the tiny house in Sherrill, New York, away from this entire nightmare.
"Dinner!" Kyle called from downstairs and Evelyn slowly walked down and to the kitchen and he continued talking "I'm leaving now, don't expect to see much of me, my work keeps me very busy," with that, he disappeared out the door and she saw he ad only ordered pizza, and no way was she eating grease, it made her extremely sick and nauseous. She opened the fridge and saw carrots, she took a few and ate them at the table, putting the pizza away in the fridge in case her uncle would eat any, and walked to the balcony.
Evelyn silently cursed at herself for wearing a dress, it was a red plaid dress with a half black sweater with a zipper.
She had ditched her shoes and now lifted herself, swinging her legs over the balcony and placing her feet lightly on the edge, she bent down, holding onto the bars that kept stuff inside, like it was supposed to do with her, and moved her feet, hanging down and released, bending her knees slightly to absorb the impact.
She turned and patted her dress down then moved towards the forest, her feet avoiding leaves and twigs as she moved silently into the woods.
Evelyn looked up from the ground when she heard a twig snap.
"Is someone there?" Evelyn asked in her soft, velvety voice, moving towards where she had heard the noise fearlessly.
"No, not there," A voice said making Evelyn jump and whirl around towards the sound, looking around with wide turquoise colored eyes.
"Would you care to show yourself? Or should I just leave now?" Evelyn asked in the same soft tone.
"The second one, I don't think you'd like to have your head ripped off," The voice said and she rolled her eyes and turned in that direction.
"No, I wouldn't, but pain is nothing I have not experienced before, I've experienced every pain available," Evelyn said before turning towards her house and walking away.
She jumped when she felt something on her shoulder and saw a hand in the corner of her eye.
"What is that supposed to mean?" The voice asked, and from the looks of his hand and sound of his voice, she determined it was absolutely male.
"It means that I have nobody, need nobody, and don't want to be touched by anybody," Evelyn said, shaking his hand off gently, careful to avoid skin contact, and began walking away again, her heart not speeding up in the littlest.
"How do you have nobody? You have your uncle, and before you ask, I am not stalking you, word just travels fast," The guy said and she smiled slightly.
"He does not count, the only words we have exchanged in eleven years are 'Hi' and 'How are you?'" Evelyn said, an edge to her voice "And since word travels fast, you should know that my mother and father are six feet under," she felt tears reach her eyes like they usually did when she thought about them and she ran away from him, her tears blurring her vision slightly, she could hear heavy footsteps following her light, delicate ones and ran fast. She flung herself up, grabbing the bars and she could feel someone watching her as she pulled herself onto the balcony, flopping down on her back as she panted, her heart beating loudly from all of the running and climbing.
Evelyn slowly pushed herself to her feet, her thin form slipping through the small opening in the door, not bothering to open it wider, and closed it, locking it twice.
*
Evelyn closed the curtains and stripped her dress off that night, pulling on her pajama shorts and leaving on just a bra since it was summer. She tossed her clothes into a hamper to be cleaned.
Laying down on her bed and pulling the covers tight around her, she wondered about the man, if he was some stalker, or if he was possibly a teen annoying her.
She sighed, her thoughts annoying her, and stood from her bed, walking out onto the balcony and looking at the forest, not remembering her clothing wasn't good for night outside.
She sat down on the ground, her back against the door and she looked at the stars, she could see many more than at her old home, and even could make out a few constellations she had learned.
Evelyn jumped when she heard a rock clatter below her and a twig snap.
"Hey stalker," She muttered, standing and looking down the balcony and she saw a wolf, it was incredibly large for one, but it looked sweet, "Aww," she mumbled, leaning over the rail of the fence that was supposed to stop her from jumping down, she felt a pull towards the wolf, watching it as it looked up at her with warm green eyes, it looked so cute. Evelyn had a war raging on in her mind, her heart told her to go down and pet it, but her brain said no, eventually, she remembered her mother tell her once 'Follow your heart' and she thought about it for a moment, she really had nothing to lose if she went down. Slowly, she climbed over the fence-like thing and hung low, releasing and landing a couple of feet away and it padded slowly towards her.
"Hello puppy may I pet you? You look so soft," Evelyn said softly, reaching her hand out towards it's head and it sniffed her hand, suddenly thrusting it's head into her hand and she jumped as it rubbed it's large head against her hand and she smiled at it.
As she pet it she spoke softly "You know, I've always wanted a dog, but my parents said they would make a big mess, I bet you don't make a mess because you live in the forest," wolf gave a small, quiet bark and she giggled "I'll take that as a yes," she scratched behind it's ear and said "I've never really had someone to talk to, I suppose you would listen, am I right?" he grinned wolfishly at her and licked her face, making her jump and giggle "Yuck," she mumbled, wiping slobber off of her face and onto it's fur.
"Your a awfully slobbery wolf," she commented, running her hands through his fur again, "In my home town, someone had a dog and it was a boxer, it slobbered all over me when I found it lost, more slobber than you though," she smiled and looked at the wolf, it had green eyes and russet colored fur.
"I should go, I have school tomorrow, please come back tomorrow night, it's nice having someone to talk to," she said, kissing the top of it's snout and turned, climbing back up the balcony and when she turned, the wolf was gone "Goodbye," she murmured and heard a howl in the darkness and smiled. She walked back to bed, laying down under the covers and only thinking of the wolf, not even a little bit about the guy from the woods...
Evelyn woke the next day from a dreamless slumber. She slipped out of her new bed and walked to her new dresser. She pulled out shorts that ended just above her knees and then a large shirt she had gotten at Disney world. She walked to her closet, pulling on a sweatshirt and kept her hood up, her long hair spilling out of the hood at the front after brushing it.
She walked out of her new room and down the stairs and to the kitchen, she saw a note on the marble island and tore it off reading it.
'Goodmorning Evelyn,
I left for work early like usual, I will get back very late today, money is under the silverware drawer, school is at 7:45, have fun,
Uncle'
She sighed and threw the note in the garbage and grabbed ten dollars from under the silverware drawer, stuffing it in her shorts pocket and ate a couple of carrots before she walked outside and towards the school, it was 7:30 and she would be there by the time the bell rang.
Evelyn walked towards the school, feeling eyes on her as she opened the door, walking towards the office sign to get her schedule, she opened the door and walked inside, the secretary looked up and smiled at her.
"You must be Evelyn," The secretary said, and Evelyn nodded, "Well, here's your schedule, if you need anything my name is Mrs. Landon, have fun Evelyn," and Evelyn nodded, taking her schedule and walking out, that was a lot quicker than she thought it would have been, but then again maybe they didn't get many new kids since it was such a small town.
She walked to her first class in room 16 and opened the door, walking in.
"Oh, class, this is the new student, I'm Mr. Dubonis but they call me Mr. D, what's your name?" The teacher said, walking over to her.
"Evelyn," She said softly, her voice quieter from everyone watching her.
"Well, Evelyn, welcome to Forest High, please take the empty seat," Mr. D said, pointing to a seat to the side and she nodded, walking over and sitting down in the seat, her hood was still up and nobody seemed to really care. "I'll be right back class, try and stay under control, your homework got thrown out so it won't be graded because of the janitors," he said, exiting the classroom after grabbing keys, the door closed behind him and everyone started chatting.
Evelyn watched her hands in her lap, waiting for the teacher to come back. After a couple of seconds she heard footsteps coming towards her and felt her hood being yanked back.
"No hoods allowed," A guy said and she glared at his smirking face, how she longed to slap it off of him, but she didn't want to touch him, it would hurt to see his thoughts like everyone elses.
"Go to hell," Evelyn muttered, pulling her hood back up as everyone laughed at the guy and his face turned a beet red and she giggled slightly, smirking at him.
"Nah, I'd rather not you little slut," He said, yanking her hood back again and Evelyn jumped up slapping him as hard as she could and she heard his thoughts 'That fucking bitch just slapped me,'
"I am not a slut you man-whore," She snarled at him before sitting down, pulling her hood back over her hair.
"You're going to pay for that you bitch," He yelled at her but she just rolled her eyes, looking up at him as he walked away and she tripped him, carefully avoiding more skin contact.
"No, you are," Evelyn said in a velvet tone, smiling sweetly as he stood up and ran at her but someone grabbed his arm.
"Dude, she's not worth it," She heard a voice say, the voice sounded oddly familiar and she whipped her head to the side, seeing someone and remembering the voice and person from the forest the last night. She blinked a couple of times, everything happening in a matter of exactly two seconds, before she turned away from everyone and towards the teacher as he walked back in.
"Cory, take a seat, do not harass Evelyn like you do everyone else or I see even more detention in your future," Mr. D commanded and he glared at her before walking away and sitting in his seat by the guy whom she had become to call The Voice.
"Thank you Mr. D," Evelyn said quietly, giving him a small smile before it disappeared for the rest of the class as she learned Science, something she was a master at.
Evelyn stood as the bell rang, hurrying out of the classroom before Cory, and after The Voice. As she was passing by him she whispered under her breath so only he could hear, not stopping walking.
"I know you were in the forest," and walked quicker as his head turned towards her, she forced herself not to look back no matter how bad she wanted to.
At the end of school, she walked outside, her hands stuffed in her sweatshirt's pockets. As she was walking by a group of people she felt hands push her to the ground and she sighed. Pushing herself back up as she saw Cory swinging his fist at her face, she ducked quickly, stepping behind him and grabbing his arm, glad he had a long sleeved shirt, and flipped him forward and he landed on his back with a loud thud noise.
"I don't like it when people touch me," Evelyn said softly, turning away from the shocked faces of the group and walking towards her new home.
After a early dinner Evelyn climbed down her balcony in the same clothes from school and walked into the forest, she hoped her wolf would be there.
"Hey wolfy," Evelyn called softly, listening to her surrounding nature for any signs of the wolf. She heard nothing but the ruffling of leaves in the wind, she smiled, seeing the sun setting and saw a tall tree. She climbed it slowly and stopped at a large limb, she sat down on it, her long skinny legs dangling as she watched the clear view of the sunset. "It's so pretty..." she murmured, not noticing the footsteps or the rustling of branches as something came near.
"Yeah, I guess it is," She heard a familiar voice say and she didn't even jump.
"If you're getting revenge for your friend, can I at least not be twenty feet from the ground," Evelyn said and she heard him chuckle, yet she did not take her eyes from the setting sun as it cast brilliant colors and shadows across the land.
"I'm not," He said, she could hear him climbing the tree and she felt when he sat on the branch beside her "I just decided to accompany a girl in a tree, which is highly unusual,"
"Well, nothing really is usual, is it?" Evelyn said, turning her head and looking at him, he had the same green eyes as her wolf.. and his hair looked like her wolf's fur.
"I suppose so," He said, smirking when she looked at him and he looked at her.
"You know, I saw a wolf in these woods, it looked somewhat like you, same colored hair, and exactly the same eyes," Evelyn murmured, watching him in case he showed any sign of knowing the wolf, "He was supposed to meet me.. he didn't..." she sighed, looking back a the horizon but the sunset was gone.
"Well, one, that wolf must have been very cute," He said and she nodded, smiling slightly "Two, it's his loss he didn't get to be with a very beautiful girl,"
"Whatever, I didn't come here to have somebody from the 'it' crowd try and flirt with me," Evelyn said, pushing off from the branch and bending her knees as her hood flew off and her hair floated around her as she fell.
"What the hell do you think you're doing, it's twenty feet!" She heard him yell but ignored it, bending her knees and absorbed the impact before running back towards her house, pulling herself up her balcony, she could hear him following but ignored it as she heard a bark and whirled around, seeing the wolf approach her balcony and she smiled, he must have scared the guy away. She dropped down from the balcony and ran over to the wolf, tackling it and hugged around it's neck as it laid on it's side.
"God that guy is so annoying, I can't help but hate him for it," Evelyn mumbled into his fur, burying her head in it's softness "I wish he would just leave me alone,"
"Doesn't look like it," Someone said and she whipped her head around, seeing Cory and she sighed.
"What do you want, and what do you mean?" Evelyn asked, holding her wolf tighter to her as she watched him come closer.
"I don't want anything, and I mean your wolfy is a very weird wolfy, h-" Cory said but her wolf cut him off as he howled, running at Cory and knocking him over, once Cory was up, he chased him away from Evelyn but she was already climbing her balcony and locking herself in her room.
(I know, the chapter's pretty short, but they will get bigger)
The next day at school, Evelyn avoided Cory at all costs, there were times when she ended up hiding in the janitors closet so he wouldn't see her.
She couldn't avoid everyone though, many times sluts that hung over Cory approached her to hit her, she mostly just took the hits and left, ignoring them when they chased her. She wished she had never moved there, and never went to the lake with her parents, she could still be popular and not be in this mess and practically living alone.
Evelyn bumped into a hard chest on her way home and jumped back, walking around and mumbled "Sorry," on her way past, glad they didn't touch her skin.
She felt them grab her bare wrist and a electric shock went through her and they didn't let go. Oh god, how should I tell her, should I just say it, or should I wait... Oh crap I hope I'm not thinking aloud, I don't even know if she knows my name, this is such a disaster, please let her believe me, oh god, I hate Cory so much right now.
she heard a flash of his thoughts whipping around to look at him.
"Come to flirt some more?" Evelyn asked in a strained voice, her head pounding and she yanked her hand away, the pain easing.
"No, but are you okay? I saw the sluts attacking you, they're always like that," He said and she rolled her eyes.
"Of course they are, all sluts are, and I'm perfectly okay, so see ya around," Evelyn said, turning around and walking away, she felt him grab her wrist again and she bit her lip as a blast of his thoughts hit her again I have to tell her, now, oh god don't argue, I must, what if she rejects me though? NO! She won't, shut up, you god dang wolf, you're just happy you got to spend more time with her than me, yeah I know, how am I going to tell her I'm a werewo-
she heard his thought s but yanked away before the entire word formed in her head and ran fast, her feet silent and she disappeared into the trees, her heart thumping wildly as she heard footsteps coming after her, she knew he was gaining and she needed to hide, though he could probably scent her if the books were right, and they were right about the heat part... and Cory was unnaturally hot too....
She snapped out of her thoughts, seeing the tallest tree and scurried up it like a squirrel, she was good at climbing- when her parents were playing hide and seek with her in the forest and they would always yell 'Come out come out wherever you our, my little Squirrel!'- she went higher until the large branches thinned out and stopped at a big one, sitting and gulping in deep breaths.
"Please, I need to talk to you Evelyn!" She heard him yell up at her and she felt her heart rip in to, remembering the way his hair and eyes looked exactly like her-no- the wolf... him...
"Go away you mutt!" Evelyn screamed down at him "I told you about me, secrets I would never tell anyone, without even knowing it was you! What the hell! I don't even know your name!" she could hear him pacing and for the first time, she wanted to touch him and know what he was thinking as silence filled the air.
"I'm sorry," She heard him whisper, the sound carried by the wind and to her ears.
"No you aren't," Evelyn whispered under her breath, knowing he would hear her if he had intensified breathing like in the book, "My life's a living hell," she said so it was clearer and pushed off of the limb, not evening watching as she fell, she felt as if she was floating in the air, except her hair was rushing around her, tickling her face. She kept her eyes closed, hoping when it was her funeral there would be a closed casket unlike her parent's who had stony faces and there eyes like glass, someone had forgotten to close them.
She felt strong, warm arms wrap around her, everything happening in a span of about three seconds.
"God, you scared the shit out of me, you weren't even trying, yet you still did you stupid girl," She heard him say and felt kisses being pressed on her cheeks and forehead, avoiding her lips.
"What's your name?" Evelyn asked in a soft, velvet whisper.
"Lance,"
And everything went black.
(A/N: My lousy excuse for a cliff hanger :D
And thank y'all for the hearts, love y'all to death my lovely fans <3
-Cara)
Evelyn fought against her eyelids, they felt heavy but the rest of her felt refreshed and new. Fighting hard against her eyelids, she managed to open one eye and peeked around, she saw she was in a room, it looked like a bedroom judging by the dresser and small TV with video games and a Xbox.
Forcing her other eye open, she slowly slid off of a tall, soft bed and onto a light brown carpeted floor and she smiled at the feeling of it against her bare feet. Walking towards a wooden door, she heard footsteps heading towards it and took a sharp intake of breath and whirled around, running the short distance back to the bed and flinging herself onto it, laying as she had been when she had woken up, her eye lids closed lightly and she was still trying to slow her heart beat down when the door opened and bunches of footsteps walked in.
"Dude, I'm sorry, I was just jealous about you finding your mate, I mean, aren't I irresistible?" She heard a voice that she recognized and determined it as Cory's.
"Fine, I accept your apology, now get out before you get jealous ad hurt my ma-" The voice she knew all to well, Lance, was saying but she forced her eyes back open and sat up, glaring at the two of them who had been talking loudly by the door.
"What the hell is wrong with you? I am not your 'mate' you mutt, and you are not even irresistible you... I don't know what to call you, no swear word quite sums you up," Evelyn snarled at them, their faces shocked before Lance's softened, his green eyes melting her insides but she held her composure.
Lance walked over to her, reaching to touch her arm but she yanked back, someone had taken her sweatshirt off and she felt vulnerable since so many could touch her skin. He didn't give up, he grabbed her hand and a shock went through her system and her eyes like it always did, blurred over, dulling the intensity of the turquoise.
She heard his thoughts, and since his grip was tight, they didn't stop Oh god, I'm so happy she's awake, she must be hungry and thirsty, a entire week asleep, I hope I never experience it. I hope she likes me, or even loves, I would die if she didn't, I hope she won't reject me, I can feel the small bit of werewolf blood pulsing through her veins... and that other stuff, it's like a coating that keeps her alive, oh god please let her be alright.
He thought, suddenly a thought shifted to the front What about what she said before? I shouldn't have let her get that close to my wolf... God knows how much he enjoyed it, please let her accept me...
"Dude, I think she's in shock or something, maybe she thinks your going to kill her, look at her eyes, something happened, they're like glazed over," Evelyn heard Cory say, it seemed far away, as if coming threw a broken transceiver that had been stuffed under a pillow.
"Oh god, am I hurting her?" Lance's voice said, with the same effect as Cory's as he pulled his hand away, releasing her arm and she jolted back to reality.
"S-stay away from me," Evelyn mumbled, pushing herself away from Lance who had come to sit on the edge of the bed by her, she curled into a ball as far away as she could from him, covering her exposed skin with the blanket.
"Dude, remember what she said? About the thing about not liking people touching her?" Cory asked and she glared at him, warning him with a deathly look to shut up.
"Yeah, get Lilly in here pronto," Lance said and he stood, standing at the door after Cory had run down the hallway, "Lilly is my older brother's mate, she's a sweetheart so please, don't yell at her, it'll infuriate my brother since she won't do anything to stop you, she just takes it," Evelyn nodded slowly.
A small women burst into the room in a sparkling blue light and Lance walked out, mouthing 'Her' to Evelyn before closing the door behind him.
"Oh, you must be the new girl, may I ask your name? It seems the boys are to stupid to tell anyone, their mean of communication often annoys me," Lilly said in a surprisingly strong voice, yet soothing at the same time and as smooth as silk.
"Evelyn," She murmured as Lilly sat on the edge of the bed, turning around with her legs on the bed and crossed them.
"That's such a pretty name for a very beautiful girl," Lilly murmured back, smiling at her and Evelyn gave a weak, small smile, feeling comforted at her presence, "How old are you, may I ask?"
"Sevente- no, eighteen, my birthday was two days ago by the sound of it," Evelyn said as Lilly frowned slightly.
"Well, to cheer you up a little, I am thirty-four, but don't say anything to Lance's brother Daniel, he likes to say he's twenty-six instead," Lilly said, smiling warmly at her.
"I heard that!" A deep voice called from far away, probably downstairs or something and Evelyn giggled and Lilly let out a tinkling laugh that made her smile.
"Now, honey, I understand that you like to avoid skin contact, but could you just touch me, just a little tap, I won't move a muscle," Lilly murmured and Evelyn gave a shaky nod, reaching her hand out that was shaking and tapped Lilly's arm, but she didn't hear anything, just a slight vibration as if Lilly was blocking her out, she did it again and had the same effects making her wonder.
"Are you a..." Evelyn mumbled and Lilly nodded, smiling.
"Yup, witch, but Daniel makes everyone call me a fairy, though I don't care at all," Lilly said, "But before you ask questions, could you tell me when it began?" and Evelyn nodded, tears threatening to spill and Lilly held out her arms "Come here," and Evelyn did, the first touch of skin against hers that didn't hurt or making her hear anyone's thoughts.
Evelyn gave her a small smile as Lilly held her in her arms, hugging her gently as she counted back to the accident.
Evelyn sighed and began her story, her heart aching for it to be a dream, "It was a tuesday, we were driving back from the lake and my dad decided we should go get ice cream, but..." she said and took a deep breath "I-It was right past a bar and s-someone w-was just l-leaving," she took another deep breath and blinked her eyes a couple of times "I don't know, they made me sit in the back... we saw the car leaving but when we swerved, they swerved after us, and all I remember was the pain, and my skin... It burned like crazy and I had a headache when I woke up in the hospital,"
"Oh honey, it's okay, I can help you, you can stop now," Lilly said, stroking her long hair and Evelyn nodded, "Are you hungry? Or thirsty?" she asked and Evelyn nodded, she stood and Lilly pulled her through the door by her wrist making Evelyn smile, she was like a kid but wise and older than a kid.
"Thank you," She mumbled to her and Lilly flashed her a smile before leading her down stairs and into a big kitchen.
"Do you like eggs? It's about ten pm but breakfast food is always good," Lilly aid, her head in the fridge as she searched for food.
"Yes, please," Evelyn said, standing back as she watched Lilly walk around the kitchen, pulling out a pan and eggs and butter and milk. She smiled as she saw her cook, she had never cooked that well and she felt her mouth water at the wonderful aroma.
"Here," Lilly said as she set the plate down on a table, "Be careful though, they're hot,"
"Okay, thank you," Evelyn murmured again, sitting down in a chair and eating the eggs with a fork Lilly had handed her. Once she was finished, she stood and brought the dishes to the sink, she was about to wash them when Lilly took them gently from her hands.
"I'll get that, you should go back and rest, you had a pretty big shock and from what I heard, Lance touched you for a long time so that must hurt, it happened to me when I was young," Lilly said, washing the dishes and putting them away.
Evelyn nodded and walked out of the kitchen and down a hallway, she watched the ground and felt herself hit a hard check and quickly stepped back.
"Sorry," She mumbled as she walked past, hurrying up the stairs and walking back to the room she was in before. She peeked inside, glad nobody was in there, and closed the door behind her. She walked to the edge of the bed, pulling back the covers and slipping in, pulling them over herself and squeezing her eyes tight, trying to fall asleep.
Evelyn was dozing off when she heard the door open and somebody walked in and over to her side, touching her shoulder but not her skin, "Hey, Evelyn," she opened her eyes and sat up, looking at Lance then her eyes flickered to the cup in his hand "Lilly said to give this to you, it'll help with the skin thing," she nodded and took the cup, draining it quickly and handing it back, he placed the cup on a bed side table and walked around to the other side of the bed and she turned around, looking at him with a raised eyebrow.
"What are you doing?" Evelyn asked when he sat down in the bed, under the covers and turned to face her, his elbow propped up against one of the pillows, his head in his hand.
"What does it look like I'm doing? I'm sleeping in my bed," Lance said and she sighed, standing up and chucking a pillow at his head as hard as she could, glaring at him as the pillow hit him on his head.
"Then can someone drive me home? Or must I walk at ten at night?" Evelyn asked and he grinned, lunging at her and wrapping his arms around her small waist, pulling her back onto the bed as she struggled hard, trying to wiggle her way out of his tight grip and hitting him on his arms and punching his chest.
"Neither, you're staying right here," Lance said, holding her against his chest under the covers as she struggled harder but he wouldn't release her, his arms were locked around her like steel.
"Release me you mutt!" Evelyn yelled, but he just chuckled and held her tighter to him.
"I don't want to, just one night please, then I'll leave you alone," Lance begged in a whisper by her ear and she sighed and stopped struggling.
"Fine," She muttered and sunk into the bed, closing her eyes and resting her head against his chest.
"Thank you," he whispered in her ear and just by the tone of his all-to-happy voice, she could tell he was smiling. She rolled her eyes under her eyelids and pulled her arms close to herself, falling into a dreamless sleep, yet slightly peaceful in his arms.
Evelyn woke up, feeling Lance's arms still around her, she sighed and tried to break his steely grip, using her strength as she felt a buzz in her head, the stuff she had drank last night must have been wearing off.
"L-Lance let g-go," She squeaked as his grip tightened and her vision blurred, suddenly it was gone and she could hear his dreams and see them.
He was kissing a girl, she had long brown hair sort of like Evelyn's but cleaner and it shined brightly, there eyes were closed but she knew it was Lance from his brown hair and form. She could hear the noises they were making and she tried to close her eyes but she remembered it was in her head, not in front of her and she groaned, searching for her body to shake Lance, but it didn't work and she could still see them kissing and they broke apart, opening there eyes and in the girls... she saw turquoise,
Evelyn was jolted back to reality as he woke up, releasing her when he saw her blurry eyes and he stood and she sat up, rubbing her head.
"I'm so sorry Evelyn," Lance said, he actually sounded like he was sorry, but it was probably because the stuff had wore off.
She grabbed a pillow and started hitting him with it as hard as she could "How dare," she snarled at him, using as much strength as she could to hit him "You," she said between hits "Dream," and hit him harder as he tried to grab it from her "About kissing," she hit him even harder with the pillow "Me!" she hit him again but this time on the head.
"How did you know what I was dreaming?" Lance asked, grabbing the pillow from her as he rubbed his aching head and arms. Evelyn froze, they didn't know about that yet and she had just given it away. She whirled around, running out of the room and down the stairs, hearing his footsteps coming after her she ran quicker, out he front door in the living room and she saw she was in a forest.
Evelyn began running again, into the forest and a giant black wolf jumped out in front of her, making her yelp and run to the side, grabbing a branch of a tree and pulling herself up, glad it was slim and the wolf couldn't reach it's height.
She went as high as she could without breaking a branch and stopped on one, she must have been double her usual height, but she didn't care, if anyone came she could just jump, she had nobody anyway, nothing she cared for or who cared for her.
"Yo, anybody seen Evelyn? Lance's lookin'," She heard a voice say and then heard bunches of footsteps walk out of the house and into the woods, knowing that they would have a hard time finding her.
"Dude, she's really could at hide and seek," She heard Cody say and she smiled slightly, resting her head against the tree trunk.
"Evelyn!" A soft, strong voice called, sort of like Lilly's but not exactly, it sounded younger.
She looked at the forest ground, watching a couple people she didn't know walk right by her tree and not notice her.
"So you like trees," A voice said by her and she turned her head, seeing a little girl in a tree by her, she had tan skin and long blond hair that was pulled back into a braid and hanging by her side.
"Yeah, I guess so," Evelyn said quietly, watching the girl as she swung from a branch in the tree and landed lightly on her tiptoes in the same tree as her.
"I'm Ava, and were you really going to jump of the tree? You wouldn't only be killing yourself, but also my brother and anyone who comes near your body when he's still alive," Ava said, frowning at her as she sat on a branch near her.
"I was contemplating it, but I suppose I can't, it wouldn't work anyway, watch," Evelyn said, pushing off the branch and falling through the air, her hair flying beside her and she saw Ava jump after her, a wild smile on her face as they came close to the ground and they both bent their knees, absorbing the impact easily.
"That was awesome! Can we do it again?!" Ava asked excitedly as she straightened out, she was about 4'3" and her top of her head ended around Evelyn's belly button.
"Ava! That was dangerous! Go to your room," A voice behind them said and Evelyn jumped, turning around to face Lance and ran the opposite way. She ran towards what she hoped was the town as the trees thinned out and she saw a house... her house. She was about to climb up the balcony when arms wrapped around her, covering her mouth as she started to scream and she was dragged back into the forest, her vision blurring over as his thoughts filled her mind.
God, why does Lance's mate have to be so much trouble, it's sickening the way she tries to runaway so much, she doesn't even know her uncle's dead,
She felt tears sting her eyes as he thought God, she won't even move, it's like Ava's doll, rag doll actually, her hair is so greasy, ugh we should lock her in the bathroom for a couple of hours,
Evelyn passed out from the pain a moment later, waking up she found they had actually locked her in the bathroom and she felt tears prick her eyes again and she sighed, she hated all of them for ruining her life.
Standing from where she had been laying on the hard ground, she saw a note that only said 'Shower now' and tore it up, chucking the pieces on the ground.
She pulled a towel from the closet and saw clothes on the sink, they looked like Lilly's. She took off her old nasty ones and dropped them in a garbage, she turned the water on and got in, taking a quick shower and stepped out after turning off the water, drying her hair and body, she put the clothes on, they were a bra, panties, short shorts, and a tight black t-shirt.
She sighed, walking to the door and twisting it, but it wouldn't open, she glanced at the clock and saw it was night again. She tried opening the door again and it still wouldn't open, it was locked from the outside just as the person had thought.
Evelyn kicked the door handle as hard as she could and it broke, swinging open and she sighed, taking a piece of paper and finding a pen on the sink, she wrote 'Sorry' on it and placed it in the doorknob.
She walked out quietly and down the stairs, she sat on the couch and closed her eyes, falling asleep almost instantly.
Evelyn woke up to people talking, she heard someone say her name and froze, breathing as if she was asleep and kept her eyes closed, she could feel the material of the sofa under her and was glad they had left her there, she was feeling incredibly nosy and mad that day from being locked in the bathroom and having laid on the bathroom's floor for who knows how long.
"God, you have one strong mate," A voice said, she had never heard it before, she could hear footsteps coming into the living room, then the creak of a couple of couches as around four people sat down.
"I don't think you'll be able to handle her," Another voice added that she determined to be Cory's.
"If she even accepts you, she'll probably reject you anyway, I think she already is," A different voice said.
"Awesome, I'll be a only child soon, not including Ava," She heard Daniel's deep voice say and heard someone sigh.
"I'm glad you're happy Daniel," Lance said in a strained voice next to her, "I didn't know I meant so little to you,"
"I'm joking Lanny, you have my charm, of course she'll accept you," Daniel said, probably grinning from his tone.
Evelyn opened her eyes and sat up, avoiding touching Lance who was close to her, "Or you have his charm," she mumbled, rubbing her eyes as everyone looked at her.
"See, at least someone sticks up for me," Lance said, about to put a arm around her but she shrunk back and he realized what he was about to do and his eyes went wide "Sorry,"
"It's fine," She mumbled "It's not your fault," she stood up and walked out of the room. As she was walking in the hallway a hand touched her arm and she felt vibrations but nothing else. "Hey Lilly," she mumbled, turning around to face her.
"Evelyn, drink this, I'll give you some every day, sometimes night, and eventually it will erase the ache, you'll be able to hear pain free," Lilly said, handing her a glass of green liquid like before and she drank it, handing it back to her with a smile and a small 'thank you' before Lilly shoved clothes in her arms "Change, you're a mess," and with a smile, Lilly went down to the living room.
Evelyn smiled and went to the bathroom, she changed clothes and brushed out her hair so it hung loose, splayed over her shoulders and it cascaded down her back in faint waves.
She walked down the stairs and saw people- mostly males with few girls who sat on their laps- on the couches. She walked slowly, her bare feet brushing lightly against the ground and she walked over, seeing a girl on Lance's lap and sat on the ground by Cory, she flashed a small smile when people looked at her from the football game that was going on.
After a while, she saw Lilly get off of Daniel and walk over to her, pulling Evelyn off the ground and dragging her into a room and she made sure nobody had followed and closed the door, saying a few strange words then turning to her.
"I'm so sorry, I-I t-think he gave up on you," Lilly whispered, her eyes filling with tears as she looked at Evelyn.
"It's fine," Evelyn mumbled, "He had every right to," her lips were in a straight line, she had even been thinking about accepting him, but the thought was erased from her mind at that information.
"I'm going to murder him after that little slut Brianna, every wolf in here can tell her body is half plastic, you can small the burnt smell of her new nose job!" Lilly snarled and Evelyn patted her shoulder and shook her head.
"It's fine, seriously, he didn't want me to be his mate in the first place, he just didn't want to die," She said and hugged Lilly before walking out the door and into the living room, not even noticing the tear that leaked out of the corner of her eye as she opened the front door quietly, feeling many pairs of eyes burning holes in her until she closed the door behind her, walking into the forest and towards her old home.
The forest was quiet and serene, she took a deep breath and began running, her hair billowing out behind her as she ran, it whipped around her face, at times blocking her vision but she didn't stop, even when her bare feet scraped against sticks.
When she reached her house, she climbed the balcony and walked down the stairs, seeing that people had been packing, she gasped, running to the garage and grabbing a screwdriver and screws. She walked to the door and screwed them in, making it almost impossible to open it, then remembered she had to change the locks. She found a old door knob and quickly changed it, running from in front of the door then through the garage door then back.
Once she was done, she did the same to the garage door but in a opposite order ad smiled at her good work.
She unpacked the things and locked the balcony door, closing the curtains before heading back to the kitchen. Evelyn pulled out a brownie mix and sighed, she loved to bake and it was the only thing she could do to get things off her mind. She sighed again, brushing a hand through her hair before she followed the instructions, forcing herself to forget about Lance for the moment at least.
Evelyn woke up in her room to banging on the balcony door, she slowly and quietly slipped out of bed, pulling a large shirt over her head since she only had a bra and shorts since it had been warm last night. The shirt reached her knees and it had been her dads, but she kept it anyway since it was nice to wear.
She tiptoed to the curtains, peeking through and she saw Cory and sighed, unlocking the door and ran a hand through her messy hair.
"What do you want?" She asked, her eyes squinting in the morning light.
"Oh king high and mighty has requested to see you, but it seems I cannot throw you over my shoulder so get out here and hurry up," Cory announced, holding a rolled piece of paper like a scroll.
"Don't you mean Alpha? And give me a second," Evelyn said, grabbing keys from under her pillow and stuffing it in her short's pocket. She walked back to him, locking the balcony door and jumping down, landing lightly on her feet and Cory followed.
"Run, faster," Cory said, making little motions with his hands and she rolled her eyes.
"Oh, sorry, I wouldn't want to keep 'Oh king Alpha high and mighty jerkiness waiting, now would I?" She asked in a sickly sweet voice.
"Do you want me to pick you up? Because I don't care, you'll be the one with the migraine," He said and her eyes went wide and she screamed, running into the forest and climbing up the tallest tree she could find before he reached her and rolled his eyes. "Come on, Squirrel, I can climb you know,"
"Fine you idiot, but payback's a bitch," Evelyn muttered, dropping to the ground and pushing him away with a hand on his chest when he ran at er to catch her. She landed with a small thud on her feet and stood straight "Do not ever try and catch me again, stupid mutt,"
"I thought Lance was the mutt and I was the one there weren't enough swear words for?" Cory said and she sighed.
"Seems like those places have changed, Lance is the asshole man-whore and you are the mutt, you should be happy," She said and began running in the forest, breaking into a full-out sprint as he followed, when they reached the house, she opened the door and walked in with Cory right behind her. "Why am I here?" she asked him and he shrugged.
"Oh Alpha high and mighty wanted you to come," Cory said, grinning slightly and she scowled at him.
"You mean Oh asshole high and mighty, and I am so going to kill him, or myself, whichever is quicker," Evelyn said and plopped down on the couch, pulling her legs up beside her and she saw Lilly come out of the kitchen with the green liquid and hand it to her.
"I heard you were coming, but for reasons unknown," She said, smiling at Evelyn as she drank the green liquid and handed the cup back and Lilly left to clean it.
"If that idiot isn't here soon, I'm going home and nobody's stopping me, no matter what," Evelyn said, looking at the clock that read 9:43 and glared at Cory who was sitting on the opposite couch, she pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs, watching as Cory turned on a TV show.
About fifteen minutes later, Lance still hadn't come and she stood up "I'm out, the asshole woke me up at nine for nothing," she said, crossing her arms and walking for the door, she opened it and saw a car pulling in the long drive way and almost cried when she saw Lance and Brianna get out.
"Oh, hey Evenly," Lance said, greeting her without saying her name correctly and a tear slipped down her cheek, "Wotcha doin' here?"
"Hey Oh Asshole high and mighty jerkiness," she greeted "And it's not what I'm doing here, it's what you were not doing here," then she turned on her heel and ran into the forest, not caring when her arm got scratched by a sharp stick, or when her feet started to ache from being bare. She couldn't believe him, he had told her he was her mate and she wasn't rejecting him anymore, he was rejecting her. She had been completely wrong about him, he was a jerk, a asshole, not a mutt, a hybrid. She still couldn't believe him as the trees got closer and she got deeper into the forest, her mind racing as she heard footsteps, but she didn't pay attention to anything but her thoughts.
As she was passing a tree, her foot caught in a root and she fell over, not bothering to get up, she just stared up at the bright sky, wondering what she had done wrong to deserve this kind of torture people called a life, she had lost her parents, her uncle, and almost her new house, but she didn't count Lance, he was never really hers.
Her mind was buzzing, her entire body stung as if someone had electrified her all over as she opened her eyes, she felt as if someone had lit a fire in her head, but no thoughts were there.
Evelyn sat up and sighed when she saw she was in Lance's room, she hard scrapes all over her and she saw that someone had cleaned them and put antibiotic on them.
Standing up from the bed, she walked to the door and opened it, there was someone in the hall, but it was one of the guys in the pack she didn't know. She walked by him, careful not to touch him, and into the kitchen where she saw Lilly and Ava, they were cooking what seemed to be a meal and included a salad, brownies, and spaghetti with a lot of sauce.
"Need any help?" Eve asked softly, smiling at them slightly as they turned there heads from their work to look at her.
"Yes, but Lance said he wanted to talk to you, he's in the living room, and you may end up ripping his head off, but we won't blame you, he's a asshole," Lilly said before turning back and grabbing something, handing her the green liquid which she drank again and handed it back with a quiet 'thank you' before Evelyn walked to the living room and her heart basically stopped when she saw Lance with Brianna, she was snuggled up next to him and his arm was around her.
"See ya later," Was all she mumbled before heading for the door, opening it quickly.
"Wait, we need to talk," Lance called to her and she whipped her head around.
"I am not staying in the same room as that slut, you asshole," Evelyn snarled, flinging the door closed behind her as she ran home, climbing the balcony and unlocking the door. She checked downstairs and saw that nobody had broken in yet, they must have given up by the looks of the door on the outside, and she was happy for that.
Once she was back in, she took a quick shower that was still warm since they probably hadn't cut of the water supply yet. She pulled on a bra and panties set that was pink and then a shirt and shorts.
She sighed, walking back into her room and saw someone sitting there.
"Get out of my house, asshole," Evelyn yelled at Lance angrily, grabbing her father's old lacrosse stick she kept in a corner "Or I'll beat the shit out of you," he just chuckled and it made her even more angry, she hit him on his arm with it and yanked it back before he could grab it. "OUT!!" she yelled at him, stabbing him in the chest with it.
"No, I still need to talk to you, I won't leave until I get to," Lance said, standing up from where he had been sitting on her bed. As he was getting up, she pushed him with the lacrosse stick and he staggered towards the still open balcony door.
"We just talked, now get out you liar," Evelyn demanded, pushing him hard with the lacrosse stick again.
"Not what i meant, and you know that," Lance said after he had stumbled back a couple more steps, almost out the door, "Jeez you're strong," he muttered, grabbing for the lacrosse stick.
"I don't give a damn, now get out before I go downstairs and find a knife, I don't care if I get arrested for murder," She pushed him again but he grabbed the lacrosse stick and chucked it onto her bed, she dived for it but Lance wrapped his arms around her waist, landing next to her, with her just out of reach of the lacrosse stick.
"Well I do," Lance growled in her ear, pulling her up and into his arms, "We are going back to the house,"
"No! I want to stay home, please," Evelyn said, grabbing the blanket and foot board when he tried to pull her off, "And god, you have more emotions swings than my uncle," she added.
Lance released her and sighed, running a hand through his hair "I don't want you alone, you either come with me or I'm staying here," he said and she turned around, glaring at him.
"Oh, no thank you, nice meeting you but don't let me stop you from being with your two dollar hooker," Evelyn said in a fake exasperated voice and he rolled his eyes.
"I don't want her, she forced herself on me, I just didn't want to hurt her, but I ended up hurting you, I'm sorry," He said quietly and she sighed, patting his shoulder awkwardly when he sat down on her bed.
"It's okay, you just didn't feel like waiting for me, it's fine," Eve said, rubbing his back in circles and he seemed to relax a little.
He turned and wrapped his arms around her "It's not fine, your my mate and you need to be my first priority," he held her tight to him and she sighed, feeling a vibrating in her head.
"I forgive you, and no, I'm not a priority, and I'm also very tired," Evelyn said and she looked at the clock "How long was I out?"
"One hour, three minutes, and fifty-two seconds," Lance mumbled, blushing slightly, "It's about seven, and you ran pretty far, I'm just glad Ryan was there when I wasn't,"
"I'm gonna sleep, you can go now," Eve said pulling away then standing and waiting for him to get up and leave but he shook his head.
"I'm not leaving you again, there shouldn't have been a first time," Lance said in a not-to-be-messed-with tone and she sighed.
"Fine, but control your dreams because if I see that one more time, I may rip head off like Lilly suggested," Evelyn threatened and he laughed, making her smile a little.
"Are you sure you're not hungry or something?" Lance said and her stomach growled, "I take that as a yes," and he stood, walking out of her room and she heard him go downstairs.
She laid back on the bed and closed her eyes, falling asleep. she was woken a little while later and saw Lance standing over her with a plate of food and she took it, seeing it was pancakes and she rolled her eyes, starting to eat.
"It was all I could find," he said, smiling at her once she had finished and placed it on a bed side table. She laid back down and pulled the covers over her, hiding her head and he slipped under them behind her and she sighed.
"Thank you," She mumbled, turning and hugging him, resting her head against his hard, warm chest.
"That is the worst thank you I have ever gotten," Lance whispered in her ear and she pulled away, looking him in the eye, hers narrowed.
"Don't push it or I'll push you right out the door," Evelyn said before snuggling up close to him again.
"Nah, you won't, you like it when we're snuggling," He whispered and she let out a heavy sigh, her breath blowing against his neck.
"I'm really sorry I called you a asshole," Eve whispered against his chest, her voice slightly muffled.
"And I'm sorry I called you Evenly when I knew it was Evelyn," He whispered in her ear, his breath brushing against her neck making her shiver, "Now you should sleep, I'll be waking you up early tomorrow, Lilly said I should be able to touch you too," he kissed the top of her head as she closed her eyes as did he, both slowly falling asleep in each others warmth.
(Author's Note: Yay! We have reached double digit chapters!I just wanted to thank anyone who commented or saved this book to there favorites, it means a lot to me considering I stink at writing)
Evelyn slowly opened her eyes and she felt arms around her and a hard chest against her back, but no thoughts or dreams. She turned her head and looked at Lance who she found was watching her with a smirk on his face.
"What are you doing?" Evelyn asked, raising a eyebrow and his smirk got bigger.
"Watching my beautiful mate as she whispered my name in her sleep," He said, bending his head toward her and she turned her head away, pulling out of his arms and stood up. She grabbed pants and a shirt from her dresser and walked towards the bathroom."What are you doing?" he called to her as she opened the door and she turned her head, seeing him standing in the hallway.
"Taking a shower, what else?" Evelyn said in a 'duh' tone and opened the door, closing it behind her. She stripped her clothes and tossed them in a hamper then turned the water on and got in. She scrubbed her hair and then her body with her sweet scented soaps and sighed when she smelled the forest still on her and she washed her hair again, scrubbing harder and longer.
Her hands froze when she heard the bathroom door open and a shadow move across the room from in front of the shower curtain.
"What the hell are you doing in here you perv?" Eve asked angrily.
"I have to go to the bathroom, you were taking to long, I have never known a girl who took that long in the shower, besides the whores at school," Lance said and she gasped.
"Are you implying I'm a whore?"
"Nope, I would never call my mate that,"
"Good, because it's technically your fault that I'm still in here, I reek of forest,"
"I'm sorry, but I still gotta piss," Lance said and she heard a zipper.
"No! I don't want to hear you peeing, go in the forest like a normal wolf!" She yelled, putting her hands on her ears tightly and shuffled her feet, her hair dripping conditioner onto the bottom of the tub. She moved her feet a little and slipped, falling onto her back and hitting the bottom of the back of her head on the faucet and everything instantly went black.
***
"Wake up, come on, please Evelyn, don't die on me," She heard Lance's voice say in the distance, but it had no effect on her current state, she couldn't find her voice, all she could do was stay there and listen, she could feel a soft thing underneath her, it must have been her blanket on her bed, and something else over her, the blanket her great aunt Alice had knit her judging by the roughness on her skin, she was probably still naked.
"Move a finger if you can hear me, please," She heard his voice say closely and she new he was by her side, she could feel heat emanating from his body as her body breathed in and out, she didn't know how it was happening, it was like it was automatic.
Evelyn felt fingers on her neck then her wrist and heard him speak again "Good, you're breathing, we have to get you to Lily and the other girls,"
She felt arms go behind her back and knees, lifting her off the bed and she heard a door being kicked open, hopefully not broke. Then air rushed by her, probably jumping off the balcony, and then air was rushing past her again, but quicker.
A thought pushed through her mind to the top of her blindness I hope he never does this to me when I can see,
and she feels the wind stop and heard another door being kicked, but it wasn't to open it, probably at the house and waiting for someone to open it.
Evelyn heard the click of the door opening and a gasp "Bring her in quick, hospital room," a female voice said, probably Ava's judging by the youth-like sound.
She felt a light air from movement pass her hair and then felt a hard bed under her, like one of those hospital ones. And then she heard Lily yelling something and heard footsteps.
She felt something touch her cheek and she knew she would have jumped if she could have moved. She heard a sound like the fluttering of wings and she knew Lilly had flashed into the room.
"Lance, you may want to go, it could get very bright in here," Lilly said softly "I'll get you right after, don't worry," she knew Lanced had nodded by the footsteps that went to the door and opened then closed it. "Okay Evelyn, if you find your voice don't talk until I'm done, it'll confuse me,"
And then she began, chanting, and she felt a warmth envelope her body.
'I shall renew,
A knew being,
Renew my eyesight,
Renew my voice,
Bring me to the living,
And let my soul, heart, and brain free from Death's grasp,
Let me live,
Let me free,
Let me live for now and more,
Renew my body,
Set it free,
Leave it to only me,
'
And then she stopped and my eyes fluttered open, my throat loosing it's clingy feeling and I felt the heat leave and I opened my yes to the light.
"You are so lucky I can fix that, you could have died from that injury, it was at the base of you skull in the back, you could have been paralyzed for the rest of you life if you had lived, but you're good now, Lance is coming in," she said the last part just as the door opened and she saw Lance standing there smiling widely as he rushed over, grabbing her in his arms and she heard the door close and Lilly was gone.
"I have no clothes, release me please," Evelyn mumbled and pulled away, pulling the blanket tight around her naked body as he chuckled, running his fingers along her jaw line and she turned her head away "Clothes, pretty please?" and he nodded, grabbing shirt and shorts from a chair and dropping it on her lap "Turn," She added and he rolled his eyes, obeying and she stood, slipping them on quickly before walking over to him and slipping her arms around his neck from behind him and smiled when he turned, lifting her into his arms in a tight hug that left her gasping for air.
"We should get you food, you should be hungry," He said and she nodded and he picked her up bridal-style and carried her downstairs into the kitchen, sitting her down on the counter as he moved around, sorting out a couple of sandwiches.
"Thank you," Evelyn said quietly when he handed her a vegetable sandwich with fruit, just how she liked it. She smiled at him before taking a bite, after she had finished it in a record of seconds, he smiled at her and hugged her tight.
"I'm so happy you're okay," He mumbled, squeezing tighter and she wiggled against his tight grip.
"Please don't choke me, I may not survive that," She gasped out and he instantly loosened up and she smiled, kissing his cheek and making him surprised. "and don't ever come in the bathroom again while I'm taking a shower,"
"Okay," Lance mumbled, grinning and she smiled, poking his arm and he released her the entire way. Evelyn jumped down from the counter, landing unsteadily but quickly caught her balance and she walked to the living room with him trailing after her, she saw it was empty and sat on the couch.
"Where is everyone?" She asked curiously and he grinned mischievously.
"Out," He said in a simple tone.
"Okay, I guess that explains it," She said sarcastically as he sat down beside her, slinging a arm around her he pressed a button on a remote on the couch and a movie started to play.
"You can sleep if you want, but I doubt that you're tired, you slept two hours," He said and she frowned.
"I feel tired thought," Evelyn said and a yawn slipped out of her mouth and she smiled "See?"
"Well, sleep, I'll be here the entire time," She nodded and smiled, resting her head against his hard, warm chest and he wrapped both of his arms around her, pulling her close and she lifted her legs onto the couch beside her as the movie began to play.
Evelyn woke up, her eyes opening slowly and she blinked a few times as memories rushed back into her mind. She could feel strong arms around her, holding her to a warm, hard chest. She glanced around, her bright eyes scanning her surroundings as she realized Lance must have fallen asleep as she had during the movie.
She pried his tight grip of of her as gently as she could, putting a large couch pillow in his arms as they wrapped around it, burrowing his face in the pillow and she couldn't help but giggle. She stood straight, stretching and walking to the TV where the screen held a little light, it was still on. Evelyn pressed the off button then walked towards the bathroom. She slipped into the door after making sure nobody else was inside and closed it, clocking it behind herself and she slipped off the clothes she was wearing, turning on the water and waiting for it to get warm before she stepped in and washed herself quickly.
Turning the water off, she stepped out and dried off with a light brown towel before putting her clothes back on, she brushed her hair and pulled it into a high messy bun before walking out and back to the living room.
She saw Lance waking up and he gave a odd look at the pillow in his arms and looked up when he heard her laugh.
"That was a very horrible trick," He said as she snickered and sat down on a recliner, pulling her feet up beside her.
"No, I just didn't want to be strangled," Evelyn said, smiling at him and he cracked a grin.
"Sorry," He mumbled and her smile became smaller after his apology.
"Stop apologizing or I'll make you stop, it's incredibly annoying," She said, giving him a mock glare and he grinned bigger.
"What will you do to make me stop?" Lance asked, standing up and walking towards her slowly and she let out a laugh and grabbed a large pillow.
"This," She said once he was closer and tackled him back onto the couch and hit him on the head with the pillow until he held his hands up.
"I surrender!" He yelled and she dropped the pillow and climbed off of him, a giant smirk on her face, but it disappeared when she heard thunderous footsteps banging down the stairs and she ran over and sat back down on the recliner, trying to look innocent as Cory burst into the living room.
"Vas happenin?!" Cory asked loudly, half asleep obviously since his hair was disarray and he had boxers on only. Evelyn started to laugh, burying her face in her hands as her innocent facade disappeared.
"My maniac mate was beating me with a pillow," Lance said in a 'duh' tone and Cory narrowed his eyes at her, walking slowly towards her.
"How could you beat on the alpha?!" Cory said, stalking towards her and she grinned, grabbing a pillow that had fallen on the floor.
"Like this," Evelyn said and jumped up, whacking him on the arm then stomach with the pillow before jumping onto the couch with Lance and whispered to him "Now is when you're supposed to protect me," he grinned and nodded as Cory grabbed a pillow and trudged towards her, glaring and swung the pillow at her but Lance caught it.
"I am her knight, I will not allow you to hurt her," Lance said evenly, grinning stupidly and she giggled.
"I can't wait to get my mate," Cory said sarcastically and Evelyn smiled up at him.
"You know you want a mate, you just don't want to accept that small piece of what you call a heart knows it, and brain, yeah, that too, if you have one though, which is yet to be proven," Eve said, smiling wider when he gave her a confused look, "Now you may want to go back to sleep or clean up in case she comes anytime soon, your hair is totally not good for meeting a girl at the moment, and all you're wearing is boxers," Cory looked down as if to make sure she was right and suddenly he was a blur up the stairs and Lance chuckled making her smile bigger.
"That was awesome, I think you embarrassed him though," Lance said and she shrugged, her eyes glancing up at him as she pulled her legs up beside her, her knees touching his legs slightly.
"Thank you..." She said softly and he smiled as she looked down, he tilted her head up with a finger under her chin.
"Don't you dare get embarrassed around me," He growled softly, making her blush a hot red and he sighed.
"To late," She mumbled, closing her eyes tightly "I'm to wea-" but she couldn't finish because something warm was pressed against her lips, she opened her eyes and saw his hand on her mouth and she pried it off and mumbled "That would have been more romantic if you had kissed me," and she turned away, lying against the opposite art of the couch from him with her head on the armrest.
"That can be arranged," Lance murmured and she kicked her foot at him, kicking him in the gut by the sound of it, "Fuck, you are not weak," he grunted out, probably clutching his stomach. Eve giggled and turned from her side to her back and looked at him, sure enough, he was doing everything she thought he was, but there was humor etched across his handsome features also.
"I only caught you off guard, I am weaker than anyone could have ever imagined," Evelyn said, crossing her arms across her chest in a challenging way, making him smirk as he pushed himself to his feet.
"Oh? Is that so?" He asked, creeping closer, making her take equivalent steps back, in a dancing motion they turned around the living room, narrowly avoiding furniture as she ran from him, her movements quick and judged as Lance stumbled clumsily after her, obviously not the best dancer in the world- she would have to keep that in mind.
"Lance! Stop whatever you are doing!" She ordered, jumping down from the back of the couch she had climbed on and edged towards the stairs, his eyes locked on hers, not her movements as she made to catch up to her.
"Nah, you like playing tag," And with that, he lunged, sending her sprinting up the steps at a speed unhumanly possible as he followed, just as quick but behind from the distance down stairs- and his lack of stair climbing ability and two trips.
"HELP!" Eve shrieked, running into his room and slamming the door, locking all of the deadbolts he had and flopping onto his bed, breathing heavily as he reached the door and tried to open it, but ended up just banging on it.
"Ev! Let me in!" He yelled, his wolf uttering a slightly annoyed growl from him as they fought the steel door. Eve decided it was a nice time for a nap at that moment and within seconds she was passed out and curled up on the cozy bed.
~~
"Evelyn," A gruff voice sang in a soft, sweet and incredible tone into her ear, awakening her from a sleep of nothingness.
"How did you get in?" She asked Lance, looking up into his eyes from where he had scooped her up in her ball in his arms.
"Window, sleepy head," He said, grinning at her as his eyes bright and happy, obviously enjoying having her in his arms.
(A/N; Okay, I haven't edited this for a looong while, nor been on, but I will possibly add a whole nother chapter, and there are now indents!!! EEK!!)
"Well, You are much more intellegent than Cory," Evelyn said, smiling at him slightly, yet her sight still hazey with sleep.
"Why thank you, my love," Lance said, smirking and kissing her forehead and she offered him a sleepy smile. He gazed down at her as Eve closed her eyes again and began sinking towards sleep, so he, in attempt to keep her awake for the day, began tickling her. Her eyes shot open and giggles escaped her lips as small squeals did also as she writhed in his lap as his fingers danced over her hips, stomach, and occasionally around her neck and sometimes feet
"Lance!" She shrieked, jerking around as she slapped at his hands, only succeeding in being dumped onto the bed, "Stop it!" she began to beg, twisting and hitting at him, but his long arms kept him barely out of range of her own ones.
"I need to keep you awake, love," Was all he said, a large part smirk part grin etched upon his face. Evelyn landed a hit on his arm, making his elbow bend and his one hand miss a tickle, allowing her time to roll that way, escaping the other hand as she landed off the bed and hurried to her feet, panting heavily as she was backed up to the wall by him.
"You will never tickle me again!" She exclaimed, holding out her hands as a barrier from his body approaching her own. He shook his head lightly, and took her hands, bending them down to her side and in her ear he whispered.
"That's where you're wrong," His warm breath tickling her cheek and down her neck as he stood tall over her thin frame, "I can do whatever I want to you," gentle kisses were placed on the top of her ear, slipping to the lobe of her ear where a sharp intake of breath was taken as teeth gently and lightly tugged on it, just enough to give a sensation that Evelyn could not describe.
"Lance..." She whispered airily, making a smile slip to his lips from where they rested on her neck, his muscled body bent over her quarterly.
