It was a little stuffed bear that she carried everywhere. Something she would not let go of. She slept with it, ate with it, and even brought it to school.
The bear had black buttons as the eyes, a pink bead as the nose, and red string forming a smile. At the end of the arms and legs were patches of white. The fur of the bear was light brown with a few stains here and there.
Her mom had to reattach the eyes a few times and once the nose, but other than that it stayed in great shape. The older she got the less work the bear needed. She was more careful with it and at one point she stopped bringing the bear out with her.
She slept with it throughout middle school, and kept it on a shelf throughout high school. In college she brought it to her dorm but was kept in a box under her bed. When she moved out and shared an apartment with a friend she had the bear in the storage room.
One day, the best day of her life. She searched and searched until she found it. She walked down the isle with her dad in one arm and the bear in the other. The little girl was given away to the love of her life.
A few years later she placed the bear into a crib. The bear was waiting for its new owner while the girl was driving home from the hospital.
Love is a strong thing, even if it is just to a little bear.
