The Rumble

Moon felt the warmth of her siblings curled up next to her in a heap.She lay,sucking her mother-wolf’s warm milk.She heard the cries of a brother who was lost in the grass.Her mother-wolf quickly leapt into action to comfort her lost brother.Panic roused as the pups realized that their mother-wolf was gone.Their mother-wolf calmly trotted back with their lost brother and regained her spot to silence the now muffled cries.

“Go away!”,snarled Blade,clearly enraged.”B-but father-dog I just wanted to-”,Moon began.Blade lifted himself off of the ground and faced her,”Go away now!If you hesitate I will make sure that you are never in this pack or in any one else’s eyes ever again!”.”Yes father-dog”,and Moon slinked away to where her father-dog could not see her.

Moon gazed up and asked herself why must her life be so cruel?She sighed and flopped down onto the hard soil.She took in a shadow.A dog shadow.She had immediately recognized the black and white dog.Harp,she thought.”

”What is bothering you Moon”,Harp had not hesitated to ask.He lie down next to her.”It’s my father-dog”,mumbled Moon,almost seeming to hold her breath.”Him again!”,he snarled loudly,”you’ll need to face him one day!”,his loud snarl turning into a concerned bark.”I know”,Moon said quietly”but today is not the day”,she turned away from him and sighed.

”I know that”,informed Harp,sorriness was in his voice.Goodnight Harp”,was Moon’s only reply.Moon thought of how free and careless that birds are,how pet dogs and how the life of the two-leggeds was.So free and careless.She became sleepy and quickly closed her eyes.

The Rumble

Panicked barks rose from every corner of the territory.Moon unraveled her eyes to see Dart and four others panicking,her father-dog standing with his tail between his legs,and Harp growling at the mountains.”What’s going on!”,said Moon rising to trot towards Harp.

”It’s the rumble”,he tucked his tail between his legs and gave a noticeable shiver.Moon cocked her head questioningly and looked at the mountains.The mountains have a crack...and it’s coming towards us!She could hear the deep rumbles like the thunder in a storm.She saw all of the animals trying to run away,and the animals who held their ground to protect their territory had only died in their effort.

Moon shivered.Now she understood why everyone was in such a panic.”Attention pack”,Harp looked at them,his tail high.He is not scared anymore,Moon thought,he has a plan.Everyone in the pac stopped their panicked barks and turned to face him.”I have a plan”,he said.And at those words,everyone seemed relieved.”If we stay here,we die,so I’ve decided that we need To move south,the farthest away from the rumble”,Harp said.Everyone moved without hesitation,all except for Blade,who growled low and followed behind the pack.

Moon caught up to Harp and whispered”Thank you Harp”.To which he replied by licking her ear and giving her a look of gratitude.They continued walking.As Moon continued walking she noticed that the ground was deprived of all of the grass.That meant they couldn't hunt.She sighed.CLAMBER!SCREETCH!Moon turned her head to see a dog hanging off the steep cliff edges.Everyone looked.They just stared.Moon noticed her father-dog continuing to walk.

She turned back to the dog.Quail had not noticed that there was a steep edge.Nobody had

The Rumble

offered to help.Harp gave a look of worry and alarm as he looked,terrified.Without a warning,Moon jumped up to hold her collar.She heaved Quail up.This was one of the times Moon had been glad that Quail had insisted on keeping her collar.Harp and the others looked relieved.The big black dog licked her nose in a way of gratitude.They both took back their spots and continued.

The pack was exhausted.Everyone’s tongue was hanging out.Beetle was whimpering now.He was not excited to go on this “journey” anymore.His mother-dog Shift picked him up.Limp did the same to get picked up by his father-dog.Grunt mumbled under his breath.

Moon assumed he was saying “Copycats”and continued walking.Grunt was whimpering a few seconds later and was picked up by Steep.They continued until a lake came into sight.The dogs ran up to the lake.The pups were put down to drink.They decided to rest.

Moon still could not see her father-dog anymore.Moon thought “He’ll mark his scent for us to find him”.She had yawned.They had been traveling from Sun to No-Sun.A nap could do good.She looked around one last time for the rumble.Nothing.Only her sleeping packmates and the soft snoring of the pups.Yes.She could go to sleep soundly.Moon closed her eyes.

The Dream

“Moon.”Moon looked around and whimpered.She did not see a dog.”Moon”,said the voice,a little louder this time.She just listened.Some will make it and others won’t.”Moon was confused but was determined not to show it.”What do you mean?”,she asked,showing her confusion a bit.”Do not trust others in the void.”,the voice said.”What do you mean!”,Moon shouted,now showing all of her confusion as she spilled out her anger.”You will need it”.

She quickly opened her eyes to see the calm lake water and the pack getting ready to move again.She got up and followed the pack.It took some time to get to the new territory,but it was worth it.There was fresh water and the scent of much prey.Her father-dog had already marked the territory.The hunters immediately started hunting and Moon,as the omega,made the beds.

It was night when everyone got settled into the new territory.Moon was playing with Dart and Splash.She was in a good mood today.Everyone was.Eventually she tired them out.It was then she noticed most of the pack was sleep.Dart and Splash must’ve noticed too,because they went to their moss beds and slept.

She heard a rustle not long after they fell asleep.It was then she thought.We must have a rival pack nearby.She listened and kept hearing paws as they hit the crunchy ground.Eventually,her adventurousness got the best of her and she went to go and check out the sounds.She saw the figure of a dog.

The Dream

A yellow and white dog.She saw his teeth curl into an unwelcome snarl.She wagged her tail in friendliness. The yellow and white dog’s tail stood rigid.The dog moved closer.She noticed how his ears were bitten off.She knew what pack he came from right away.The Thunder Pack.Every adult dog gets their ears ripped off.They are the most disciplined pack and give no mercy.Moon gulped.

The dog noticed she meant no harm and calmed his hackles.”I am Bone”,he said.”I am Moon”,She paused wondering why he was here,”Why are you here?”He paused,as if unable to trust her.”I had a dream.There was a voice telling me not to trust outsiders.It showed me this place.I was tempted to come.”.Moon gazed at him in disbelief.Was this the dog who had the same dream as her?She was thinking in disbelief.

The yellow dog could not say she didn’t after she told him how the dream had kept her up.It was almost Sun.The Thunder Dog had to leave.A promise was made.They would meet every night.

She was sleepy after staying up that late.She fell asleep as soon as her eyes were closed.She could guess the same thing for the Thunder Dog.But today she had no nightmares.That must mean that Bone had a peaceful night’s sleep too.

The Dream

Moon woke with dogs sniffing her all over.The hunting dogs were sniffing her.Daisy was giving a disgusted look.Splash whimpered.Her father-dog growled.”What’s going on!”,she jumped up,sending all dogs toppling over each other.”Traitor!”,her father-dog shouted.Her mother-dog gave a look of worry.”Huh?”,Moon asked.”Hold this traitor down Steep,Dart,Harp and Daisy!”.Before she knew it she had dogs pinning her down.

She could see Harp’s confused stare asking why did you do this to us Moon.How could you?Moon heard her older brother’s growl,Daisy’s unforgiving stare and Splash’s whimpering.”Dogs!”,father-dog paused”Sniff her and you will see why she is the traitor!”,he commanded.Dogs sniffed her and everyone she saw gave a look of disgust.Could it be Bone”s scent,she thought.OH no!Moon forgot to wash off Bone’s scent.

”You see”,her father-dog growled”This was the last straw!What if she lead a Thunder Dog to our territory!”,He growled.”I must kill her and find another territory.”

Remorse

The dog she had once known as her father-dog came towards her and was about to go for her belly.Protect me,God of dogs she prayed.He opened his jaws in an attacking position.”Grr…”That was a familiar voice.”A Thunder Dog!”,yelled father-dog,”RUN!Follow me!Maybe he brought his whole pack!”.Father-dog ran,the others ran without hesitation.Harp turned back and growled.Then he followed the pack.”Moon!”,yelled Bone.”How did you know that I was in trouble?”,Moon asked curiously.”I didn’t.I thought that you might’ve forgotten to wash my scent off of you.And you did.”,Bone told.Moon nodded silently.”You can stay with me and my pack!”,Said Bone,seeming to read her mind.”They are Thunder Dogs!How am I going to get into their pack without being killed or getting my ears chewed off?”

“I have my ways”,Bone said calmly.Moon assumed that since he was calm,he was right.So she followed him to the Thunder Dog territory.The dogs’ fur bristled as they saw Moon.”Who is this!”,said a black dog with a white muzzle and a scar on his nose to his left ear he was almost as big as a bear,most likely the leader.”She has a better territory for us”,he said,gazing around at the dead trees and dry grass,he looked at the dirty water.Everybody relaxed.

”Take us”,said the Alpha,almost seeming to beg like a puppy who is begging for food.Moon led them over dead trees and through a dry land with dead grass into the well nourished environment with clean water,lots of prey scents,and beautiful scenery.The Thunder dogs waited for their leader’s approval.Finally he said”Thank you?”.”Moon”.”Thank you Moon.Would you like to join our pack?”,the leader asked.There was a moment of silence”Yes”,Moon said”,I will join your pack.”.”This is our new territory”,he declared.And with that dogs yipped in excitement.

Remorse

The ceremony was about to begin.It was weeks ago when Moon joined the pack.She was about to get her ears ripped clean off,so you couldn’t blame her for being scared.It is a tradition.She was pinned by dogs.Snap grabbed her left ear and shook it wildly.Moon felt the pain and jerked,but that helped rip the top of her left ear clean off.She saw Bone wince.She didn’t notice that Snap had grabbed her right ear and was chewing it viciously.Finally it came off.

Moon could still feel the burning pain of her ears.Bone didn’t look.Moon felt guilty of playing with the Thunder Dog and for betraying her pack.They would definitely plot their revenge,but they can’t fight a Thunder Dog,they might not even notice that the Thunder dog was Moon.Her body was full of muscles,Her pure white fur had turned gray,her ears were ripped off,but she knew only one dog that would recognize her.That dog is far away now though.She had lost her mercy for all dogs outside of her pack now.Her new pack.The Thunder Dogs.

Moon woke up and stood in her rank spot.She was immediately promoted to hunter when she had joined the pack.She was only six rankings away from being Beta.She had to earn her place as Beta though,and Ceaser was stronger than her.Way stronger than her.

The alphas went first.The hunters went next.The pups came after them.Then the omega came.Moon did not know the white thick-furred dog’s name.From what she could tell,even the small dogs were able to kill three big dogs alone,or nine small dogs alone.Moon was full of envy.Every dog was strong enough to kill a bear alone.They had mastered in speed,agility,and strength.She no longer questioned the Thunder dogs’ ways,as she had learned and mastered everything that there was to know about being a thunder dog.

Remorse

She no longer felt remorse for her actions and for betraying her pack.She felt anger.She was angry at how her father-dog treated her.She was angry at Harp and Dart and her mother-wolf to speak up for her.Mad at her pack for turning on her.

Moon ran after the rabbit,not even trying.She went past the bunny and blocked it’s way.The rabbit turned but was blocked.The rabbit turned this way and that but there were dogs surrounding it.They closed in and one of the hunting dogs that Moon did not know grabbed it and it immediately went limp.Moon wagged her tail in amusement.Clearly no dog could face the Thunder Dogs.No dog WOULD face the Thunder Dogs.They were too whiny for the Thunder Dogs.And they would always be.

The Return

Moon rose to take her position.She saw Snap and Dagger talking and whispering.They glanced at the pack a few times.Moon knew what they were talking about.They told Ceaser,Crunch and Moon only.They were their third,fourth,and fifth in command.The rest of the pack did not know.Moon felt a tingle of pride that she was told the news.News that Snap and Dagger were having puppies.The news wasn’t obvious.Snap does not eat much food.

Dagger was acting normal.”Hey Moon”,Gnaw greeted her with a glare,”If you don’t eat your food I’ll eat it.”.At hearing that Moon rose with a grunt and picked a flamingo to feast on from the pile.The Sun was halfway of it’s journey now.

Moon turned back to her food and wolfed it down.She was in a good mood,but she had to search for another territory,just in case.She might even get higher in rank and closer to being Beta.She dreamed of being Beta,higher rank than Ceaser,Crunch,Gnaw,Bone,and Venus.She felt pride swelling up in her chest.She flopped down onto her bed.

I wonder what happened to the pack.Did they survive?Moon felt some worry for her former pack for the first time since she joined the Thunder Pack.She shook it off.She didn’t need that kind of stress on her right now.She should honor her pack.Her current pack.Her pack had made her stronger,quicker,and able to feel less pain when wounded or attacked.She got up and trotted out of the territory.Nobody saw her.She went over the border mountain.She saw a huge river.My former pack crossed this river she thought.There were too many territories and it was too risky to pass other territories.

The Return

Passing the ocean was the only option.She did not even know if they survived.THe river is too big for me to cross it and explore it.Moon decided to tell her pack about this when there was an almost Sun.She sneaked back to her territory.She would tell them tomorrow.She closed her heavy eyes.

It was almost Sun when she woke.Moon looked at the water.It became dirty.Moon barked,”Attention!”,she looked at the Alpha,”I saw an ocean across the border.There is probably a new territory.With clean water.”.The dogs yipped in excitement and agreement.Then everyone turned to Snap and Dagger.They nodded their heads in approval.

They gathered the prey and carried the pups.They approached the ocean.Then the long swim began.The adults holding pups had to lift their heads to keep the puppies from drowning.They struggled to keep their heads up.When they got there it was now Sun .The dogs shook their fur madly.They took a break and began on their trail to find a territory.

They clambered over trees and big rocks.She saw a territory without any dogs.It had the perfect resources for survival.The pack settled down.Moon decided to hunt.Alone.She was a Thunder Dog.She climbed over the mountain.She caught a scent.A familiar scent.My father-dog.She felt remorse.She followed the scent to find her father-dog.To find her pack.To find her family.As she dodged and weaved past rocks.She could not believe she was lucky enough to smell her father-dog’s scent again.She then smelled the other scents of her packmates.She began to do a little dance of pure joy.She was wasting time.The more that she danced around,happy,she would definitely lose their scent.

The Return

She had to focus.If she didn’t focus,she would never find them.With just that much of motivation,she began to walk around rocks.Moon could not wait to see her family once again.The ones who had cared for her,the ones who watched over her.Moon was filled with pride.She was almost there.

Crazy

“Its a Thunder Dog!”,said her father-dog.”It is just me,Moon ,look!Smell me”,Moon’s heart panged.Her own father-dog didn’t recognize her.Other dogs from her former pack appeared,there were new dogs too.Blade hesitated,then sniffed her.”It is just Moon,she is harmless”,he finally declared.Everyone sighed with relief.”Hi father-dog,I just came to see the pack.”.”You are not welcome here anymore!”.Alpha growled and lurched forward with his jaws open.Moon was quick and slid out of the way.She was mad now.”You are heartless!”,snarled Moon.”Is that a challenge?”,Alpha growled.”Yes”,replied Moon.”You are weak.You can’t even kill a fly even if you tried to”,Alpha insulted.”We’ll see about that”,challenged Moon.

And with that,Moon lurched toward him,enraged.Shocked,Alpha stood still.Moon grabbed him by the snout and lifted him from the ground.Crack!His snout cracked.The pack winced.Moon didn’t stop there,though,She shook his snout viciously.Alpha gave a muffled yelp of pain.Moon then flipped him onto his back and tore through his belly.Blood coursed through the grass.

Moon lifted her head and shook it.”Monster”,Harp growled.”He was her father-dog”,yelped mother-dog.”She is crazy”,yelled Dart,now an adult dog.Moon licked her chops.She tasted the blood of her father-dog.She tucked her tail between her legs.I killed my father-dog.They are right.I am truly a vicious Thunder Dog.Moon gazed at her father-dog’s corpse.She ran off into the night.She heard a voice,almost seeming to cry with madness.”Never come back you-you-you crazy dog!”.She could not identify the voice.She did not blame them for itheir words,though.

Crazy

Moon stumbled and fell over rocks.She ran towards her territory.It was No-Sun by the time she got to the territory.All of the dogs in her pack were asleep.Sleeping peacefully.She decided that after this type of day,she should sleep.She lie down.All of a sudden she remembered to wash the blood off.If she forgot to wash the blood,she would get kicked out of the pack.The same reason that she was kicked out of her former pack.She did not cover up the evidence...no she forgot to cover up the evidence.She jumped in the water to wash off the scent of Blade.Moon curled up into a heap and slept.

“ARP”,came a voice.It was Ceaser’s bark.

“I have challenged you for your position as Alpha”,Ceaser barked.Dagger’s look of surprise showed that he did not expect this.Moon rose and was about to ask what was going on,but a glare from Bone showed her that it was not the time to ask questions now.Moon sighed and sat down next to Bone.”What’s going on?”,Moon asked.”Dagger told us that he and Snap were expecting,and Ceaser said ‘don’t we have enough puppies ’Dagger went mad and growled.Ceaser challenged him,and I’m sure that you know the rest.”,Bone told.

Moon was surprised.Bone must’ve noticed because he said”Don’t worry,the fight isn’t right now,it’s an night,when the Moon is the at brightest point.”,Bone said.

Crazy

Moon gave a nod of gratitude and she turned to see the dogs.Ceaser turned away and his sister ran up to greet him.She gave him a hard stare.She was clearly mad and upset.The pups watched,amazed and scared out of their wits.

Moon sighed.When would this madness ever end?This pain,this darkness,this torture.Moon could not take this anymore.She could end this madness,no,she would end this madness.

Regret

Moon thought.What about Bone and the others?I can’t leave.I have something to live for.Moon thought.I know my purpose now.My purpose is to kill and protect the ones that I love.Gnaw trotted up to Moon.”Hey Moon”,Gnaw paused and sat down,”Can you watch my pup?”.Moon looked at Grunt.His brown color almost blending him in completely with his surroundings.”I can watch your pup”,she looked at the dogs dozing off,others patrolling the area,”There is nothing better to do here anyways.”.Gnaw nodded in agreement.He knew how bored that everyone was.

Moon looked at Grunt.He was watching Sniff “explore and patrol” the territory.She looked like she was having so much fun.Moon thought of when she was just a puppy.Her siblings.Warm milk.No worries.Moon wished it could all just come back again.Then a memory came to her.A bad memory.

“Ok pups,I need to go hunting for the pack,stay here,okay?”,favored our mother- dog.”Ok!Ok!”,yipped a pup.Our mother dog trotted off.”Let’s explore!”,yipped one of the pups.Before I could say no all of the pups nodded in agreement and ran after.I had no choice but to follow.We struggled to climb rocks.I heard voices and ran under a leafy plant.Three brothers who were the only ones who saw me did the same.Two of my brothers trembled as they saw the nasty creature.”Mmm.Mmm.”.The creature picked up one of my brothers by the throat and CRACK!My remaining brother gazed upon our dead brother’s limp body.

The monster had dropped my dead brother to pick up my remaining brother by the throat.Another CRACK!They were both limp.It was such a terrifying scene.The thing picked up his kills and left.Me and my three brothers cried for our mother-dog.Two of those brothers have made their own pack,leaving me and Dart...No.Just Dart.

Regret

It was Almost-No-Sun.Grunt was now playing with Grass.Sniff was still’’Patrolling’’.She looked tired now,though.Moon almost forgot about the fight tonight.She wished that she could just cover the puppies’ eyes so that they wouldn’t see the brutal scene.Too bad though.This was a learning experience,and she couldn’t allow a dog not to hone their skills.Moon growled.She remembered the first time that she saw a fight.Her father-dog was so nice back then.He fought our former leader and became leader.Moon guessed that power had gone to his head because he became meaner.Well,meaner to her anyways.

Bone’s paw pads came Crunch-Crunch-Crunching through the grass.”Hello Moon,its boring,can we play?”,Bone seemed to be whimpering.Moon grunted in her reply.Is this a pup that I’m speaking to?It seems like it.Moon forced herself to get up.She played with Bone.She knew that he would keep bothering her.She was trying to tire him out,but the opposite had happened.The Moon-Dog shone bright in the sky.It was going to happen.The fight.The thing that would bring in a kick of action.Ceaser came up to his litter sister and whispered.She nodded.Dagger was growling.Crunch was only one ranking away from Beta.Ceaser was Beta.Crunch came up.”Ceaser has challenged Dagger for his honor of being Alpha.”Dagger growled.”After the fight,you will still remain packmates.If you resent the coming of this fight,speak up now.”Snap opened her mouth as if about to say something,then she closed it.”If nobody resents,let the fight begin.”

Regret

We looked.Ceaser was circling Dagger.Dagger was growling loudly now.We watched in horror as Ceaser leaped toward Dagger’s leg.Dagger froze.

Ran Out

Ceaser hit the ground.It looked like Dagger was smirking.He had ran to the other side.Crunch growled deeply.Ceaser struggled to find out where Dagger went.When Ceaser finally found out where Dagger went,he jumped forward.Dagger went past him,slashing his beautiful coat with blood as he passed.Ceaser growled and madly turned around and,without looking tried to crash into Dagger.Dagger pressed himself onto the ground.Ceaser looked bewildered.

He turned this way and that.Dagger took his chance and grabbed his throat.He threw Ceaser onto the ground.”I surrender!”,Ceaser whimpered.Dagger looked pleased.”For your rude behavior to my mate and me….”,Dagger paused to think.”You are banned from my pack!”

Crunch looked gave a look of horror.Ceaser looked at her.He whimpered and got up.He walked through the forest,walking so sadly,so painfully.Ceaser didn’t look back.Somehow,Moon had a feeling that made Crunch even sadder.Dagger looked pleased now that Ceaser was out of his sight.Crunch growled low.She was clearly angry.Moon understood Ceaser’s feelings to be ran out of your pack,the place you were born in.Moon didn’t even notice that she was growling.This is a good thing.Ceaser is gone,I’m now one ranking away from being beta.Bone came and sat down next to Moon.Moon sighed and flopped down.Bone did the same.”Moon”,he began,”We need to talk”.

Ran Out

It had been weeks now.Snap looked like she just ate a bear.The Beta would help her have her puppies.

Moon has never been Beta and had never helped an Alpha have her puppies.She would challenge Crunch for her place as Beta.Today.She was right in the middle of a fight with Crunch.Bone was watching.No.Moon’s mate was watching.Moon ran past Crunch slashing as she went.She had learned from Dagger.He was grinning.Crunch jumped above her.She lie down.As soon as Moon saw her foreleg she jumped up to grab for it.YELP!Crunch looked at her bloodied leg.She must’ve not wanted a broken leg,because she said,”I surrender!”.Just like that,Moon became Beta.

Of course the pups had grown a bit.Their teeth at the back of their jaws would start to grow,and then they would have a naming ceremony.Lick was the oldest,so her ceremony would be first.Grunt is very protective and wise,so,maybe he could be a future Alpha.

But the Thunder Dogs don’t pick their Alphas for wiseness,they pick them for strongness.Moon knew that,so did the pups.Moon paused to look for Bone.She found him talking to Venus.She heard some of their conversation.Bone asked,”Venus,who is Lick’s father-dog?”.Moon actually didn’t notice that no dog had claimed to be Lick’s father-dog.Moon decided to listen.Good thing the wind was blowing her way,because if is wasn’t they would smell her.

”Well”,Venus began.Moon got closer,even though dogs can hear extremely well.Venus was pacing.Venus appeared to be trying to blend in.She knew that wasn’t possible.A gray dog can’t blend in to green grass.Moon felt bad for Venus.She was scared to tell him under all of this pressure.Bone looked at Venus.He cocked his head and asked,”What’s wrong Venus?”.She murmured something to him.Venus looked even more scared to tell Bone of whoever is Lick’s father-dog.Her father-dog’s coat must be black because Lick’s coat is black.

Ran Out

Venus looked around as if there was an invisible danger.She turned back to Bone and sighed,”Okay,Lick’s father-dog is…”

Birth

“Beta!Beta!We need you to come to the Alphas’ den”,Boomed a loud voice,soon perceived as Gnaw’s.Moon growled.Great.JUst what I needed.She snuck out of the chunky bushes to interrogate what she was needed for.Moon took in the two startled dogs once before she exited the scene.Moon ascended herself up from the ground and trotted toward the tenacious den.Alpha Dagger was pacing around apprehensively.Moon knew.It was time.She watched Snap sitting on a moss bed,panting furiously.Moon roved to Snap’s side.Snap wore a welcoming glare as Moon approached.

Moon warned Snap when she presumed too hard.She told the black dog when to rest and breath.It would be better if a mother-dog who had already gone through this before was helping,like Crunch.She was gone on a hunting trip,though.Moon heard the first puny whimper of a pint-sized black,tan,brown and white pup.The pup furiously dived at Snap’s paw.”Pounce,because of your ferocity”,said Snap between licking at his fur.Moon was eager to sniff him,but knew not to.She wanted her own pups.Maybe with her and Bone.One day.Moon looked at a small blob.Snap teared at it,the black,brown,tan and white female pup looked like her brother.”Since you look like your brother,I will name you something similar to Pounce.”,Snap paused,thinking”Jump,Jump is your name,because of how high that you can jump for a newborn”,Moon was excited now.She looked at another sack filled of a black,tan,and white female.The female kicked at the sack.Snap opened the sack and said,”Kick,because you are a great fighter.”

Moon noticed that Snap was not mean.Dagger was not mean.Snap was a professional at naming.Another blob emerged.A black and white male.His eyes seemed to open.

Birth

”Look is your name,because of your great eyesight.”,Snap said.Snap yelped painfully as she crouched,her legs back,paws touching the ground.Moon knew that Snap was trying to hide the fact that she was in pain.A great blob emerged.The biggest one yet.Almost as big as her shoulders and almost as long as her tail.She was surprised,ripping open it.A white,black and tan male popped out.Snap licked him and he bit a little above her lower jaw.Dagger came to sniff this pup.Moon knew what he was thinking.He had wanted him as the future pack leader.Only time will tell.Moon thought.Maybe she wouldn’t have puppies.It looked like too much pain.She liked puppies though.They were cute but took huge responsibility,something that Moon and Bone didn’t fully know about yet though.

Moon didn’t notice that Snap had another pup.The pup was a black and white male.The pup was startled by his mother-dog’s licks and jumped high.He jumped higher than her paw.”Hop,because of your great ability to jump high for a pup.”,Snap paused to stare at her puppies.Dagger was by her side,admiring what they’d made together.Moon left the den to leave them in peace.Dogs were waiting outside of the den.They were yearning to hear the news.Bone trotted from his place in front of the den to trot alongside Moon.Moon flopped down before a stocky bush.”So Moon”,Bone looked curiously at Moon,”How did it-”.His words stopped as the pack ran up and asked Moon questions.Moon knew that she could never get out unless-”Beta!Snap needs you in the den!”,Dagger stepped forward.

The dogs let him pass.

Birth

Moon nodded.What else would the doberman want?Moon followed Dagger through the grass and into the den.Snap was panting heavily again.Another pup?Moon waited patiently as the last blob came out.The pup was no bigger than her ear.

It was a light brown,tan,and white female.Dagger and Snap gave each other a look.Oh no!A-A runt!The puppy didn’t move.Dagger growled,most likely at the pup.Snap looked,”I-I don’t know what to name this pup!”.Moon nudged the pup.It whined.Snap didn’t care.”Seek,I’ll name her Seek because she seeks her true destiny.”

Moon’s First Ceremony

Grunt was playing.He growled at Sniff and opened his mouth wide to seize her leg.Moon was watching.Wait.His back teeth have grown in!It is time for his ceremony!The other dogs noticed too and were glancing at the Alpha.Gnaw was barking happily and Crunch was giving exhausted woofs.”I have an announcement!”,barked Dagger.All dogs gave their full attention to him.”Grunt will have his first naming ceremony tonight.”,Dagger looked at the den where his eight puppies were nursing.

“When the Moon-Dog is at her brightest point in the sky.”,the black dog continued.All of the dogs yipped in excitement,even Moon felt excited.Tonight.Grunt was playing.Alpha was choosing only the best dogs to search for a completely white animal and bring it back.From there they would skin the rabbit and laythe skin on a rock.The pup would sit on the rock and will choose it’s name.Moon remembered her ceremony,it didn’t go so well.

Her father-dog and the rest of the pack gazed at Play.He was glaring at her the whole time so far.”You will now sit on the rock and choose your name now.”,Beta announced.Play,excited as she was ran up to the rock.She forgot to jump,slamming her head into the rock.Blood splattered out of her head.Play got dizzy.Dogs watched,silent.They did nothing,too embarrassed,Play didn’t move.It was almost the beginning of the Sun’s journey.

Moon’s First Ceremony

Taking in a big gulp of air she stood up.The pack was now alert.Her father-dog looked at her hopelessly.Moon climbed onto the rock.A surge of pride came through her.”I am Moon”,she said”,a swift,strong,and agile dog.”.Her father-dog looked as if he was about to laugh.Moon walked down and sat next to Alpine and Tree.”Hey half wolf!Nice move!”,teased Tree.”What if her next move is to kill us?”,yelped Alpine.”The half wolf?Of course!What else do you expect from those untrustworthy creatures!”,growled Tree.”B-but my m-m-mother-dog said-”,Moon stammered.”NOBODY CARES ABOUT WHAT YOUR MOTHER-DOG SAYS!”,growled both mid-dog-pups.Tree and Alpine looked behind them.Nobody bothered to stay.”Snare,Digel,Harp,come here!”,Three mid-dog-pups trotted beside Tree.”Attack her!Kill her!”,yelled Tree at the top of his lungs.Moon saw Harp sneak off.While she didn’t notice,the four dogs teared and ripped at her fur.Moon was startled.The four dogs were still tearing at her fur.Moon tried to get up,but Tree knocked her to the ground.

Moon was basically beaten up and traumatized as a pup and a mid-dog-pup.Moon could never forget the experience.If Harp hadn’t told her mother-dog she would’ve been killed.”Pack!”,boomed a voice,”It is time for Grunt’s ceremony.”.The dogs stood by their rank in a rectangle.Wow.I haven’t noticed how many dogs we have in our pack.About thirty.Moon looked at Alpha.He nodded.Moon walked before a stone and said,”Grunt will take the responsibilities of a pack dog.Omega,Patrol Dog,Hunter or even Alpha...who knows what he will be.Grunt,please step on the rock after Alpha puts the animal on it.”,Moon told.Alpha took the white weasel into his mouth and ripped it open.He tore the flesh and organs out of it.He put the skin onto the rock.Grunt stepped onto the rock.A spirit seemed to go into him and another seemed to go out.Suddenly Grunt said,”Wise!My name is Wise.I will give information and will offer to help.Dogs say that I’m mean,but I can prove to them that I am not mean!I know it!”

Moon’s First Ceremony

Dogs looked at Wise as he jumped off of the stone and ran towards his mother and father dog.He was happy.Everyone was happy.So was Moon.

Tragedy

A few weeks without the rumble had passed.Moon had grown affectionate of Seek.Seek’s mother-dog didn’t want anything to do with her.It reminded Moon of how her father-dog had treated her.She felt bad for the runt.The pups had grown even bigger,but still,Seek was the smallest.Seek had thought of Moon as the mother-dog that she never had.The weather was acting unearthly.Moon had secretly found a spot far away just in case things get unmanageable.Moon watched as Seek played with Wise.He doesn’t hate her for being a runt,like her so called littermates who didn’t like her much,except for Jump,Look,and Kick.

Moon heard a soft rumbling sound.Moon got up.Could this be the Big Growl.There was another rumble,but louder.Moon saw a crack a few feet above her.Moon wasn’t taking her chances.Moon got up and announced,”Packmates,the Big Growl is coming again,we need to move.”Her packmates looked at each other and mumbled.”Who says that you’re boss!”,came a voice from the crowded dogs.Soon other dogs started growling.”I’m staying to defend our territory!” “Mee too!”Most of the dogs agreed.”I’m leaving”,growled Moon angrily.”I’m coming with you”,Bone stepped alongside Moon.”I want to come too!”,yelped a voice.Seek stepped out.”Can I come too?”,she asked.Moon glanced at Snap and Dagger.”Take the runt”,said Dagger,”As if there is any use for her.”Seek whimpered but there was a hint of happiness in her tone.”I’m going too”,Wise stood alongside Bone.Crunch stepped up and went beside Wise.Gnaw went alongside Crunch.”We’re going too!”

Tragedy

Moon looked at the three pups.Jump,Look,and Kick had gone alongside Seek.”Fools!All of you!If you want to go,leave.There isn’t even a Big Growl here”,yelled the Alpha.Moon tucked her tail between her legs and led the group away.She had knew where to go.She had been on the trail with the group.Moon ran through as much as seven forests.Since Thunder Dogs are well trained,they got tired on the third forest.They finally got to the destination.Moon saw the other dogs in the territory.

She recognized them immediately.Her pack.”This is another pack’s territory!”,yelled a dog.”Just follow my instructions”,Moon replied.She went up to her brother,who was picking out a rabbit from the prey pile.”Alpha!Behind you!”He turned around to face Moon.”I want to join your pack”,said Moon,not hesitating.”As if”,he replied sarcastically.”Let me try again,I challenge you for your place as Alpha and for control over your pack and mine.”,she said growling.”If you are a fool enough to fight me,then yes”,he replied.

The fight began.Moon grabbed his flank and pulled.He flew up,startled by her strength.He ran for her throat,but she ducked and bit his left foreleg.She shook violently,spattering blood from his flank and foreleg.Moon had blood only on her mouth.Dart was bleeding all over.”The fight is over”,Beta announced,”Moon is now Alpha”Dart did a low growl and scampered away,limping.From that point on,Moon was Alpha.

Tragedy

She was the first half-dog Alpha.Dogs were respectful of Moon and tried not to get in her way after the damage that she had done to Dart.Moon was mad at her brother for not standing up for her and calling her crazy,so she placed him as omega.Bone was beta.Gnaw,Harp,Wise,Splash,Steep,Daisy,Quail and Crunch were hunters.The others were patrol dogs or the omega.Moon would take the biggest out of the pile and “her pups” would feast on it.She saved the deers and elks for Crunch,Gnaw,Wise,and Bone.

Moon would save only half a mole and a mealworm that one of the pups caught(sometimes)for the omega.She was boss,and she felt great.This was her destiny.

The Hunt Gone Wrong

Moon awoke to a sunny patch.She felt clement.She gazed upon four pups.Kick,Seek,Jump and Look were snuggled up beneath her belly.Kick was growling and running as if trying to run from something.Moon wondered what dreams the pup was having.Moon rised to stretch her stiff legs.Kick and Seek awoke.Moon could tell from the confused look on their faces that they thought they were aroused on purpose.Seek was the first to speak,”Mother-dog I’m hungry!”Seek was spoiled from the food that she got.Her belly was plump and her muscles were loose.”We’re hungry”,Kick corrected.

Moon waltzed out of the den.The hunters were asleep.Moon barked,”Hey!Wake up!No slacking on the job!The pups are hungry.”Moon’s voice woke up everyone in camp though.It wasn’t because she was loud,it was because everyone(except for her Thunder Dog packmates)was scared of her after what she had done to Dash.They had learned that she would fight and(or) kill any dog,even if they were related to her.The hunters quickly scampered away,looking like rabid dogs.Moon trotted over to her mate.He lie down in the sunlit moss of his bed in the den.She flopped down beside him.Almost ten seconds after she had lie down beside her mate,all of “her pups” jumped onto her,pushing their weight down on her.”We’re hungry!”,Look and Kick said almost at the same time,but Kick was off by half a second.”The hunters should be back soon”,Moon replied,taking in a breath of the warm air.The pups glared at her briefly and then trotted off to the thick bushes close to the den’s entrance.

The Hunt Gone Wrong

Moon sighed deeply and walked outside of the warm cave.She sniffed the frosty air.Winter is coming soon.We need lots of food.I hope that they come back soon!Just as the words went through her mind,three hunters came with a deer and two rabbits.Moon growled,”Where is splash!”The dogs trembled for a bit before one of them said,”He got captured by longpaws”Moon looked at him and growled louder.”Tell my mate that I’m searching for Splash.Daisy,you’re female Alpha for now.”,Moon said.She didn’t wait to hear what they said or to see their reactions.Instead she followed the hunters’ scent until she caught a whiff of Splash’s scent.Moon got excited.As Moon followed the scent,she smelled longpaws,in fact,the smell was fresh.Moon didn’t waste any time,she quickly followed the scent into a city.Moon paused to stare at the scene.

So the longpaws didn’t have the rumble happen in their territory.Yet.Moon followed the scent into the city and then to a place that smelled of many dogs.

Moon walked toward the opening wood.She scratched at it.Nothing.Moon tugged at the wood.It was hopeless.Moon trotted around.There was a big hole beside a big bag with brown oddly-shaped pebbles inside.Moon heard human voices,and...Splash!Without thinking,Moon ran toward the scent.The longpaw gave Splash to the other longpaw and said something.It grabbed a long,narrow stick with a big loop on the end.The longpaw ran towards Moon.She dodged and jumped to attack.Kherrk!Moon gave a choked growl as she realized that the big loop was around her neck tightly.Moon jumped up and kicked and rolled onto her side many times.It didn’t help at all.Moon stopped struggling to pant.

The Hunt Gone Wrong

The longpaw tugged on the stick.Moon followed the longpaw because she didn’t want to be tugged on anymore.She was lifted into a opening box.The two leggeds quickly took the loop off of her fur and closed the box.

Moon felt a blanket beneath her and lie down.There were dogs all around her.A brown Border Collie with green eyes stared at her through his box’s bars.

Forced

The two-leggeds walked into the room.They talked.Moon didn’t know what they were saying.All she knew was it was something about her and “Max” because they looked at her and Max.She could feel his eyes on her,though.His green eyes stared into her soul.

The two-legged female opened Max’s box and led him outside into who-knows-where.After a few seconds she returned and opened Moon’s box.She grabbed her by the scruff of her neck and led her outside of the room.Moon looked.She was free!She ran around in circles.She stopped to look at the scenery.No.She wasn’t free.There were fences surrounding her.She looked around for an escape route.

She saw the Border Collie with the green eyes trot up to her.”Hey babe,whatcha doing here”,he casually asked.Moon growled as he hopped up onto her.She bit his ear and was tugging at it.She hadn’t noticed the two-leggeds watching her.The two-leggeds put a circular thing around her mouth.

When she tried to bite him,she would feel the circular thing around her mouth and she would growl.Moon came up with a new plan.She would run away to tire out the Border Collie.The two-leggeds noticed and tied her to a post.

Max quickly took the opportunity and tried again.Moon could only move a certain distance.She tried tugging on the leash,but it did no help.The Border Collie bit her for this,and because of the thing on her snout,she couldn’t bite him back.Moon whimpered in distress and discomfort as he jumped onto her.The two-leggeds watched in amusement as Moon couldn’t get away.Eventually it became almost No-Sun.Moon was ready to drop.

Forced

The Border Collie was still going.The two-leggeds ran over to grab Max by his heavyweight collar and drag him over to his opening box.They did the same with Moon.Once she was in the opening box,she dropped onto the covers,panting hard.She took in a glimpse of the Border Collie.

He almost seemed to laugh.Now as long as she was in here she would have to stare at his face.The female two-legged opened Max’s box and led him outside the sliding wood.She came back and took Moon to the same place.Oh no!Please!I don’t want to do this again!

Moon wasn’t led to the outside full of gates,but to the outside full of houses and stores.There were no gates though.Moon was too tired to escape.The two-legged led her into a big box that rumbled.She was led inside.The inside of the big box was comfy.The two-legged jumped in the front and made the big box move.Moon didn’t even notice that Max was right next to her.”Hey babe,wasn’t that fun”,he said.”I’m not your babe”,she growled.She didn’t have the thing on her snout anymore.

She could kill Max now.She remembered the last time that she’d bitten him.The thing was put onto her snout.She didn’t want that to happen again,so she stayed quiet.Max took advantage of this and curled closer to Moon.

His breath was felt on Moon’s fur.The rumbling box stopped.The female longpaw took both of the dogs out of the rumbling box.She led them into a house.It was warm inside.Moon quickly settled down into a big bed.The two-legged was laughing.Moon knew that this two-legged was friendly,so she let it pet her.It felt good.

Forced

She wanted to stay with the two-leggeds now.She wanted to stay with this two-legged.Max trotted up.He stared at her with his casual eyes.”Howcha doing?Got any space for me?”,he asked.Moon said nothing,she just laid there.Max jumped onto the big bed.Moon would leave soon,she just knew it.In fact,she could just run out,but not now.Too many things were to be witness to her escape.

Moon knew that day would come.She was full of comfort.When she got back she would tell her pack of this.And with that,Moon fell asleep.

Danger

Moon woke.The two-legged was gone!Moon looked around.Max was still asleep.She trotted through the door of the bedroom. There was another open door.As Moon walked through the door,she realized that she was free!Moon leaped across the wooden porch and into freedom.She yipped happily.Then she heard a low growl at the rear of her.

Moon dared to turn.Max was growling deeply,”Where are you going?”,he jumped from behind her to be seen in front of her.Moon stood up.Now that the two-legged was not here,she could finally kill Max.Moon opened her jaws to wound Max.

Max dodged her fearful jaws and threw her to the ground.So this is a dog stronger than a Thunder Dog?Moon paused in shock and impression.The dog stood over her for a second,then he retreated his paws and stepped back to let Moon catch her footing.After Moon got up,she could not take any chances.

She looked around.There were no fences to hold her back.Moon took in a big breath.She knew it would be a cowardly thing to do,but she ran.She caught a small glimpse of Max in the corner of her eye.He was clearly stunned,but Moon didn’t go back to find out.She almost forgot what she came here for.Splash.

The thought echoed in her mind as she saw the Corgi in a net.She needed to save Splash!Moon sniffed the air.The smell was faint.Moon needed to hurry.She ran until she saw the place.Splash is here somewhere.Moon pawed at the door.The door didn’t budge.Moon remembered the big hole beside the big yummy smelling bag that was full of brown pebbles.

Danger

Moon passed a corner.The hole was still there.She crouched under the hole.It was a tight squeeze.She made it inside.The dogs that were laying down suddenly looked alert.

Splash was inside of the opening box at the left of Moon.All of the dogs yipped happily.”Get us outta here!”She looked at all of the dogs.They would expand her pack,but how would she get them out?Moon looked.She had seen the two-leggeds open it by pushing a button on the side of the cage.

Moon pushed the button to Splash’s cage,”You push the bottom buttons,and I’ll push the top”,she said.Moon worked with Splash to push open the buttons,and all dogs were freed.”Come on Splash,let’s go”,Moon squeezed through the hole,while Splash had no problem getting through because he was small.

The dogs left to their long lost owners.All of them were stolen Moon led the party to her territory.The first ones to greet her were Bone and Wise.They were also the first ones to ask her why she took so long.

“Moon!Where have you been”,Crunch bounded up to her.Moon had to move to avoid being crushed.”There was danger in the forest!A-almost all of the prey were gone!Steep almost got killed by a-a-a-”,Crunch had trailed off.

Moon looked at her questionably,”Crunch calm down.Steep was almost killed by what?”Crunch sat.”There was a big rumble by our old territory,and me,Steep,Zack,and Shift were patrolling when a big crack started to form a big crack.Zack and Steep noticed it first.Me and Zack ran away like fools”,Crunch glared at Zack.He looked down,full of shame.”Shift saw us and ran after us.When we looked back,we saw Steep on the edge of a big crack in the ground.He was hanging on for his life.Steep was slowly climbing up,but then a big piece of the ground that he was hanging on to began to break apart.Steep jumped up and ran to us”,Crunch stood up.Moon looked at Steep.”We need to find a new territory”,and that was all that Moon said.

Danger

Moon and her pack struggled to get over the rocks and fallen trees.On the way she smelled a whiff of the Thunder Dog pack.It smelled of death.The other Thunder Dog outcasts noticed too.Moon led the pack over a big pond,the biggest one that she had ever seen.Soon they were all into a great territory.It had been four weeks before they settled in.

The Bad News

It was dark.Moon looked around.All of the trees were dead,the bushes and grass withered and died.How did it come to this?Moon peered through the dead bushes.There were two dogs.Two dogs fighting.Moon recognized the dogs.Well,only one of them.She didn’t know the other dog,but she knew that he came from a pack stronger than the Thunder Dogs.Seek in the form of an adult dog was fighting a way stronger dog.

She remembered the dog’s face,but not the name.Moon turned her head.This is a dream.Moon turned her head back to Seek.She was dying.”No!”,Moon screamed,but Seek had already dropped.

The pups were playing and biting each other.Moon looked around.Whew.Moon gave a grunt as she got up.She stretched her back legs and extended her jaw.The pups jumped back,startled.”Where is the food?”,Kick asked.Moon stared at the pup.”In the prey pile”,she said.Ever since they moved here,they had plenty of food.Moon watched the pup go outside of the den and out of sight.

Moon trotted over to Bone and laid down.”So,what happened when you were looking for Splash”,Bone asked curiously.”Well”,Moon began.”I ended up at a place with many dogs in opening boxes”Bone barked,”What!How did you get out?”A silent glare from Moon quieted him.”I was put outside in a place of fences with a dog named Max,and he...he…”,Moon’s voice trailed off.Bone looked at her with worry.”He did what?”,Bone couldn’t help himself from asking.Moon became completely silent.She froze,looking like a statue.”I understand”,Bone said,he trotted off.Moon took in a big relieved breath.

Moon noticed her plump belly.Wow.Did I eat that much?She was still hungry.Moon went over to the prey pile.

The Bad News

There were remaining chunks of deer when Splash disappeared.Moon took and chewed on a piece of deer meat that was as big as her head.Moon only ate four nibbles before she was full.

The dogs noticed.Almost all of them.It was more food for them.Moon looked at her plump belly again.Am I?Well.It’s not impossible,after that unpleasant encounter with Max.

The dogs probably were thinking the same thing,but puppies with Bone,not Max.Moon stared at the dogs looking at her belly.I’ll see in two full moons.Jump trotted up to Moon.”Why are so many dogs staring at you...your belly”,the happy pup asked.Moon stared at the pup.She couldn’t tell this curious pup,then she’ll just ask ‘How’.Moon just walked away.She could see Jump’s confused look on her face.Moon decided to just go into the comfort of the den.

Moon slept the day away.It was actually pretty peaceful though.There were no wolves howling their mournful song over the moonlit cliffs,no coyotes howling their victory in an easy hunt,or any owls’ hoos after catching a helpless puppy.Moon couldn’t help yawning in pure delight.

After that long nap,Moon would be in a way better mood by tomorrow.She woke up to the tweets of birds.The pups were snuggled against her belly.Moon couldn’t help wondering how they fit beside her belly.Moon rised up slowly,careful not to wake the sleeping pups.She had succeeded in her attempt.Moon trekked toward the outside.It had snowed a little outside.The air was getting chilly.Moon needed to wake the hunters,they were less scared of Moon after she softened.Moon took a liking to her pack.”Wake up you lazy dogs”,Moon ordered with a slight chuckle.The hunters woke and nodded.Moon wondered.

The Bad News

Moon wondered how she turned from a scared,bullied pup,into a strong,bully dog.She couldn’t believe how far she’d come.Moon hoped that she would come even farther.

Found

It was a month when the pups had their growth spurts.Moon was envious.She wanted the pups to have a normal puppy-to-adult life.It had become Summer,and the days grew longer.The pups also grew tired faster because of the never ending heat.Water in the pond that the wolves drank from quickly evaporated.

Wolves were getting thirsty and hungry.The prey had moved because of the scarce supply of water.The wolves could not look for a new territory because the Sun was too hot.There would be no water to cool off from on their journey.Moon spent her days in the den thinking of safe ways to travel without exhaustion.

There was almost no way to go without exhaustion.She thought of one way to travel,but the pack would be exhausted.The pack would walk to the ocean to get a drink.Then the pack would swim to the other side where water was not scarce.The hunters would carry the pups,and the patrol dogs would carry what was left of carcasses.Moon stood up,she would tell the pack.Now.She walked up to the bushes on side of the den.”Attention pack!Formation”,she yelled at the top of her lungs.

The pack walked into formation.”We will cross the ocean,to where it rains almost every week,but the weather is hot.There are lots of animals like cattle.Hunters will carry the pups,and patrol dogs will carry the food.”,Moon announced,taking in a big breath.The dogs yipped,their tails wagging,if they had one.Moon looked over the pack.The pack was ready.She left from her place on the rock and stood beside Bone,who was in the very front.

The pack didn’t ask any questions when moving across the ocean.Moon saw how fast the pack swam.She had to admit that she was proud.In twenty-three minutes they were at the other side.

Found

Moon quickly claimed a territory.She had told the hunters to search for food.Moon wanted to explore the new land.She snuck out of the territory.It smelled of badgers,birds,wild cats,and deer.She ran along,cherishing the scents.Moon smelled something familiar,something that made her fur stand up.She could not identify the scent,but she knew one thing.This is a bad scent.She didn’t want to run into trouble,she was already carrying pups.Moon turned and aimed for her territory.She heard a soft rustle in the bush.She turned and growled viciously.A badger quickly scuttled out of the bush.Moon growled in her relief.Badgers were harmless.She wondered why she was so frightened by one of them.

She walked onto the trail to her territory.There was a thought that came to her.What if there is a rival pack nearby who could be spying or competing with us for food.Moon and her pack could beat them anyways.Right?She stopped walking.There was a growl behind a lime green bush.Moon knew that she was not alone.She turned around,growling.”Fight me coward”,she yelled.

Big mistake.A dog form came from the bushes,dust was surrounding the dog.Soon,when the dust cleared Moon recognized the dog.It was a Border Collie with green eyes.”Hey,miss me?”She growled low but she was filled with fear.She saw what Max could do to one dog,even a Thunder Dog.”Hmm…”,Max looked at Moon as if observing her.”You are carrying pups,but I wonder whose pups though”,Max gave a little grin.

Moon knew whose pups that she was carrying,and it was not good.”Since I am the father of your pups,I will live with you and be your mate”,he started.

Found

“I have a mate”,Moon growled.”Well then,I’ll just fight him to the death for his place as Alpha”,he continued.Moon shivered.She could not let her mate die,nor could she refuse a fight.”Ok,but please do not kill him,spare him”,Moon pleaded.”Yes”,the dog said,”But only on one condition”

Change

Moon led Max toward the territory.All of the dogs stared.”Max wants to challenge Bone for his place as Alpha and for control over the pack”,Moon began.Bone stepped out,”I accept”She stared at Bone,”If you lose,you will be kicked into a patrol dog position,and you will not be my mate,Max will replace your spot”,Moon almost growled.”The fight begins”,said Moon.Bone ran towards Max and leaped.There was a clump and a yelp as Bone realized he was on the ground and Max had tighty seized his leg.There was the smell of blood as Max shook his head with Bone’s leg still in his grip.

Moon whimpered in horror as she looked at the stump of where his leg used to be.Max proudly held his leg in his mouth.”The fight is over,Max is Alpha now”,Moon whimpered.Bone limped to where the patrol dogs were at.The dogs looked at Bone’s stump.Moon went to the den.She was followed by Max.”How are you doing”,he asked with a grin.

Moon didn’t think that she and the dog would ever get along,and if they did get along...she couldn’t even imagine.It was night and it got chillier,on these nights when Bone was Alpha,Moon would curl up next to him.Max was Alpha now,and she wouldn’t cuddle with him even if it was the coldest night in the world.Moon was sleepy though,and even if Max was in the same den as her she fell asleep.It was a month since Moon slept near Bone now.She couldn’t handle her new lifestyle.

She often snuck out to sleep near Bone until sunset,then she would go back into the den.Moon stretched.Max was standing near the den’s entrance,”Babe,go tell the hunters to search for food”,he ordered.

Change

Moon walked to the hunters’ den,”Wake up,time to hunt”,Moon said.The hunters looked gloom as they stood up to hunt.The pups’ ceremony was tonight.Max agreed to let the pups stay in the den with them.They would have to go to another den when they are adults.Moon had hoped that they would create their own packs.Beetle,Limp,and Growl were no longer puppies.Limp’s new name was Lemon,Beetle’s new name was Fire,and Grunt’s new name was Fiery.Moon noticed Fiery’s behavior around Seek,a pup.That was okay,though because tomorrow was the ceremony.She wondered how it would be in the future.

She didn’t want the pups near Max,he could become dangerous when he is mad.Last time Max almost hurt Kick.

Lex,Rex,and Brooke

Moon had her pups already.Max named the boys and Moon named the girl.There were two boys and a girl.Rex(Black,white,and tan)is training to be leader of the pack.Lex(Black and white)is more calm and has fast reflexes,so he is training to be a patrol dog.Brooke(Black,grey,and white)is training to be a hunter for how strong that she was for a puppy.

Moon once asked why the puppies had adult names,also saying that they would have a ceremony and their names would change.Max snapped.He growled deep.Max said that the puppies would not have a ceremony.Moon walked away without questions.

Lex,Rex,and Brooke

It was actually the day that was supposed to be for Seek,Kick,and Look’s ceremony,but Max wouldn’t allow it.Moon had an idea though.Tonight.It was pretty close to night.Moon went out to hunt for a white creature.Moon caught sight of a white rat,but it was too fast to see.A white deer was grazing a few feet in front of Moon.She crawled on the dirt and slowly stalked forward.Once she was close enough,she leaped for the deer’s throat.

The deer froze in shock and Moon shook her head and body while holding the deer’s throat.The deer started to kick and make sounds.Moon held her grip.The deer finally stopped moving.Moon started the process of skinning the deer.She carried the deer to the camp.She put down the deer to call Seek,Look,and Kick.

They came bounding up to her.”Yay!Food!Why does it look so thin though”,Kick asked.”Just follow and you’ll see”,she replied.The pups followed Moon to a rock.She laid the deer on the rock.She started by oldest.

“Kick,stand on the rock”,Moon said.Kick stood on top of the rock.”Kick,this is you and your siblings’ naming ceremony,choose your name,it will come to you”,Moon announced.Kick stood on the rock for a second,a spirit seeming to come into her from the moon.”My name is...is..uh...Tigerlily!My name is Tigerlily.I will prove my place in the pack as hunter.”,she said.

”Step down from the rock and go by your siblings.Look,go on the rock,you know what to do”,Moon said.Tigerlily stepped down from the rock,and Look went onto the rock.A spirit seemed to go into him from the moon too.”My name is Rufus because I look strong,but I am not.I will prove my place in the pack as a hunter”,he said.

Lex,Rex,and Brooke

.”Seek,you-”,Moon began,but she was already on the rock.A spirit seemed to go into her.”My name is Jewel,I have jewel eyes,and I will prove my place in the pack as hunter”,she said.

“Good job pups”,Moon said.The pups were excited on the way home.They didn’t quiet down.They were at home and the pups followed her to the den to sleep.It was a good day for Moon.”Good night pups”,Moon said.”Goodnight”,they replied.Moon drifted off to sleep.

"You what!"

Moon toppled over,startled.She had heard that voice before.That was a familiar voice,not in a good way either.

Defeated

“What’s happening”,Moon asked.She saw Max hovering over Tigerlily and Rufus.The pups looked scared.Then he turned over to Moon,his energy going to her.”I should be mad at you for sneaking out and having a ceremony”,he shouted to Moon.

Did the pups..dogs rat on me?”I’m sorry”,Moon said.”Don’t ever do this again”,he said.She glared at the pups and walked out of the den.Wait.I didn’t see Jewel.Where is she!Moon looked around.I think I know where she went.She walked out of the territory and into her old pack’s territory.It was destroyed.There were cracks in the ground and fallen trees.

Moon saw Jewel sitting by a fallen tree.She went up to Jewel.”Jewel,what’s wrong,is it Max”,Moon asked.”No”,Jewel said,”It’s just that I’m starting to think that Max is a worse Alpha than mother-dog and father-dog”.”You’re right but we can’t go back now,the pack is dead”,Moon said.”You’re right,but what if I stayed to protect them,and what if some of them are still alive”,Jewel asked.”Don’t say that!They didn’t want you,and if I left you would be dead!And it was a earthquake!There are no such things as survivors in earthquakes!Besides,you need to appreciate what you’ve got now.”,Moon said.”You’re right,let’s go”,she said.

Moon and Jewel heard a low growl.”You’re not going anywhere”.A familiar dog jumped out,Moon remembered him in her dream where Jewel was fighting him to the death.”Hello sister”,the dog said,”I am your brother,Bite,but my name is Jaw now”.

Defeated

“B-Bite?You...survived”,Jewel said in shock.”Yes,I was hunting with Dagger when the earthquake happened,we wondered what happened to the pack until we saw the camp,fallen trees and dead dogs under trees,the others were inside of the cracks.We buried them”,Jaw explained.”No wonder we didn’t see dead dogs.Anyways my name is...well you spied on us so I guess you know”,Jewel said.This was the perfect time for Moon to say it.”You can come with us-and your father-dog too”,Moon offered.”But what about Max?He’s pure evil”,Jewel said.”Jewel”,Moon said,”I’ve challenged Max for his place as leader”.”You what!That’s the craziest thing that you’ve ever done”,Jewel yelled.”The whole pack is going to help me,and if I lose we’ll all fight together,when I give them the signal”,Moon explained.”OK then.Brother-dog,you stay here for now until we defeat Max”,Jewel said.

“I have no problem with that”,he said.Jaw went back to the small cave entrance that they never noticed before.”C’mon,we need to get ready”,Moon said.They walked back to the den.”Hey Moon,the bark right”,Harp asked.”The bark”,she said.”Jewel!Where did you go!We thought you were killed!”,Tigerlily and Rufus said.”I saw our brother”,she said.”What!Explain!”,Tigerlily said.”Ok,follow me”,Jewel said.Jewel walked away with her siblings.

Moon decided to go back to the den.”The fight is tonight,but how….dumb could you be to challenge me,all dogs respect me”,Max said.”They don’t respect you,they are afraid of you”,Moon said.”How about we make a deal”,Max asked.”Sure what is it”,Moon asked.”If I win you will make a stronger litter of puppies,and if you win I will leave this territory forever”,Max offered.”Deal”,Moon said without thinking.She lied down next to a mossy bed.

Defeated

“Wake up!The fight will begin.”,Max said,pushing her over.Moon stood up and walked out of the cave.

The Fight

Moon stood outside in front of Max,the fight was going to begin,but since there was no beta,Moon announced to fight.”If nobody resents,the fight may begin”,Moon said as she jumped to bite Max on the leg.If she bit him on the leg he wouldn’t be able to attack her quickly.

Max jumped out of the way and took her ear in his mouth.Moon waited until he had a loose grip and then pulled away.Max pushed Moon down.She barked once.”Looks like I won the deal”,Max said.Rose and Harp attacked.Steep and Splash attacked.Dart and Quail attacked.

Shift and Zack attacked.Daisy attacked.Lemon,Fiery and Fire attacked.Crunch and Bone attacked.Gnaw and Venus attacked.Jewel,Tigerlily and Rufus attacked.”Hey stop it!I-I I sur..”,Max began.That was where something unexpected happened.Ceaser joined the fight.Crunch looked very happy.

”I surrender”,Max said.”Leave this territory forever”,Moon said,”And NEVER come back”Max got up and ran.Moon saw him look back once.He was looking at Moon.He would be back.She wasn’t worried right now though.They would live a happy life in a excellent territory.All of the dogs yipped excitedly.

The Fight

Bone finally took the courage to stand next to Moon.Fiery stood next to Jewel.Crunch stood next to Ceaser.They were all happy.They didn’t need to patrol because their pack was the biggest now that the thunder dogs were gone.Dagger and Jaw were now in the pack.Dagger was graying near his mouth.He was getting older.This was the best pack that Moon could ever ask for.

A few years later...

Moon and Bone have passed on,and a new generation has started.Harp and Daisy had a litter of two,and Daisy passed away right after.The pups’ names were Luna and Kyram.Luna and Kyram were troublemakers.Kyram and Luna almost got killed by a bear once.Jewel and Fiery had a litter of five.Liera,Sana,Adrin,Keep,and Lenny.They were the tattletails.They loved telling on Kyram and Luna mostly,since they got into lots of trouble.Brooke,Rex,and Lex all run the pack together now.They could not let one Alpha handle everything.

Brooke had met a dog named Faze(Yellow with floppy ears).They had beautiful puppies.A litter of four,but a runt died.Pire,Lexy,and Moon were tiny hunters.There was a day when the whole pack was hungry for two days,and Pire and Lexy came back with a deer,and Moon came back with a hog.That was when they started to hunt at only three months age.

But there was a rustle.

A few years later...

A rustle came from the bushes.There was an old dog hiding in the bushes.And his name was

Max.
