Axel strolled along the forest with Sami feet behind him. They were on their journey to Cleon, a city not too far off the coast of Ritual. Axel wore his dagger slashed across his chest, and a knife tucked in his worn out boots. Sami wore a simple arrow and bow like Robin Hood which is what they typically called her. They were best friends who were brought up together in the peasant village in Anastasia. Sami has had an enormous crush on Axel since they were kids but never had the guts to tell him.
Axel puts his hand out in front of Sami stopping her immediately. “Shh.” He whispers. “I hear harbors.” Harbors are a group of men who capture women, children and even other men and use them for their sexual pleasurement. He crouches Sami behind a tall tree and draws his dagger while she readies her arrow. The forest was quiet except for the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves. Axel has supernatural hearing so he hears the cries of women and children, the whispers of the harbors and snapping of twigs that led to the underground fortress.
“Did you hear something?” Sami asks interrupting Axel’s chain of thoughts. He was thinking about how he could break into the harbors’ nest and manage to release at least a few captives. His head snaps back to her and he glares for a second only to see a harbor running towards her. The harbors thick bulging arms wrap around Sami’s throat making her gasp in terror. She screeches in pain triggering Axel’s combat stance. He scoops down and draws his second dagger and throws it into the harbors right eye barely missing Sami’s dirty blonde hair. Blood gushes from his eyes as he howls in pain. Seconds later the grunts of approaching harbors rung in Axel’s ear.
“Get behind of me!” Axel commands to Sami as they prepared for battle. Sami braced her back against Axel’s with her arrows ready to fly while Axel wipes the access blood from his prized dagger. “I hear three of them. One’s is coming from the left the other from the right. The last one is-” Sami fires her arrow into a harbors forehead as it was about to jump onto Axel. The other one pounces close to Sami as Axel grabbed it by its hair and drove his fist into its face. The last one was the biggest running hungrily towards them with a sick twist in his eyes.
“Get ready!” Sami calls as they both aimed for the beast. “One …two…three.” She whispers to herself and releases the arrow. It ducked from its terror and proceeded in running. She fires again…it misses.
“Samantha, shoot the god dam arrow!” Axel screams.
“I can’t! It’s moving too fast!” She replies. The harbor stops in mid stride and falls to his knees plopping onto its stomach, dead. A beautiful girl stood behind of it with her bow raised but the arrow missing. It was planted into the harbors skull. She has long hot red hair that was in a neat pony tail, spicy green eyes, and deathly pale skin. The wind that blew into her face made her even more attractive in Axel’s sight. He relaxes his muscles and walks to the girls leaving Sami behind.
“Hello.” Axel says to the girls. She smiles warmly revealing her perfect white teeth. Sami strolls up seconds later with a pissed look on her face.
“We had it all under control.” She barks. The girl kept her smile and nodded in agreement.
“So it would seem. My name is Teah and you are?” She says.
“I’m Axel and this is my partner Samantha.” Axel informs ogling over Teah. Sami puts away her bow and arrows while Teah does the same.
“Where are you too headed?” Teah asks looking Sami right in the eye. Sami bit her bottom lip tightly.
“Anywhere from here.” She barks. This time Teah’s smile faded.Axel noticing the girl’s instant hatred squeezed his way between them. His big muscular arms brushed against their chests.
“Girls, girls calm down and be quiet. Those were only a few harbors. I don’t think we need a dozen more to come raging at us.” He says. The girls calmed their gazes at each other and heightened themselves to reach Axel’s tall body. He marches from between them into the eastern direction and followed the sun until it was nowhere to be seen with them following close behind. They stumbled upon a village where no one was on the dirt roads. Axel led them to the nearest inn in which they were to spend the night.
“I will rest on the floor while the two of you take the bed.” He insists. Sami felt rejected because whenever they went on a journey they would rest together and he would even wrap his arms around her waist. She trudged into the corner where the large bed laid. She pulled the covers over her and nuzzled her head into the pillow waiting for Teah to join her.
“I think I’ll rest with Axel.” Teah suggests giving Sami a devilish grin. She releases her ponytail and slide under the covers with Axel, bringing his arm around her waist. Sami screams internally before rolling onto her side and staring out the window. She drifts into a restless sleep.
“Get up, witch before Axel returns with breakfast.” Teah spat waking Sami from a wonderful dream. She dreamt about Axel and her together back in their village when they were kids. He kissed her under the big oak tree by their huts. Sami forced herself onto her elbow and stared deep into Teah’s eyes.
“I don’t like you.” She sang and rolled her eyes. Just then Axel walked in with a tray in his hands. He placed it next to Sami on the bed and pulled her into a hug. She closed her eyes inhaling his scent as he did hers.
“Good morning sleepy head. Eat up because we have a big day today.” He says. Sami smiles up at him and glares over at Teah who was waiting for a hug from Axel. When it didn't happen she pecked her lips against his cheeks. Sami blood boiled and her face turned tomato red. Clearing his throat Axel left the room for a quick minute. Teah glared over at Sami giving her a sneaky grin before turning and waltzing out the door beside Axel. Sami dropped back onto the bed placing a pillow over her face and screamed into it. What a day this is going to be, she thought.
They stepped through the forest ducking under low vines and hopping over surfacing tree roots. Axel as usual was in the middle while Sami and Teah occupied his sides. Today was different because Sami decided to stay away from Axel. She thought that because Teah looked better he’d probably get with her so what’s the use hating her. While in reality she looked better. She has wavy dirty blonde hair, piercing green eyes that lit whenever she smiled and pale but slightly tanned skin.
“Where are you headed Axel?” Teah asked out of the blue. Sami kept her gaze directed towards the moist soil not bothering to look at her.
“Our fathers have sent us to Cleon to settle some of their financial issues for them. Why are you out here alone?” Axel questions. Whenever they weren’t speaking the forest was quiet. Maybe too quiet for Axel’s hearing. He then turns to Sami and brings her into his embrace for protection. Teah glares over at her in the most obscure way. Sami smirks. "Teah?" Axel repeats.
"Well I was just strolling along for my liking and I stumbled upon you two. I had to make a good impression to be accepted to this group so I guess that little disaster helped me out." She replies looking lazily at Axel. "What exactly is your relationship with Sami?" She then whispers in his ear. It sent a chill throughout his body and he took a step away from her carrying Sami long with him. All the while Sami was quiet listening to the two's conversation. She actually got a sense of relief when he decided to wrap an arm around her. Her body could've melted from his touch and she thinks that's exactly what happened when they were approached by some harbors.
"Our relationship is this... Axel started. "Sami and I have been the best of friends from since we were kids due to her mother's death I planned to keep it that way." Sami's heart sank not by the fact that he just exposed her personal information but by implying that he's only her friend because her mother died. She unwrapped his arm from around her neck and darted off into the forest leaving the two calling behind.
Sami ran for what seemed like hours until the sun was nowhere in sight. She finally stopped at a big oak tree surrounded by wet soggy mush. She sighed and fell to her knees crying for some reason. Why? Was all she could think of this mess.
Suddenly she heard the snapping of a twig somewhere near her. She immediately draws her arrow, wipes her tears and prepares to shoot not calling out. The steps came closer as she spun on her knees to see who was there but it was too dark. Sami then felt a sudden pain in the back of her head as she stumbles over in pain. Her world went black.
When Sami comes too her hair and face is drenched with sweat. She's hanging upside down by her ankles in what seemed to be a dungeon although it is too dark to tell. Her bow and arrow is missing and she is completely naked. For a moment she wants to cry. Her jealousy is what has gotten her into this mess. A harbor has probably captured me, she cries. She doesn't feel violated in her virgin so she probably has hope.
