More Than A Boot

it has walked over a thousand miles
yet my foot was never placed inside
too old when you walked in my life
but we always walked side by side

a simple boot holds so much meaning
that nobody could ever understand
it represented your work...play
deep down inside simply....the man

swelling feet from a battered heart
that made it hard to walk that day
outside it was a little muddy
the boot and my love lead the way

yet when we arrived at the hospital
your heart was drowning...poor circulation
one boot was cut down the side
the other..a gift made as a dedication

dirt still on the sole and heel
the way you'd want it to be
filled with flowers and greenery
You are a dad forever to ME
