I took a step toward the edge, took a deep breath, and… I whirled around to the sound of a twig snap. I knew someone was watching me. I couldn’t do it here, not now, but I had to practice, somewhere… I turned my attention to the someone, or something, I knew was watching me. Then I turned to the edge of the cliff, next to me the river slowly crept to the edge and fell into the deep, mist surrounded pond below. I would be falling if it weren’t for the creep behind a tree. I looked down at the pond and saw the silver moon shimmering in the water. All of a sudden I heard my mom calling my name, “Manny? A! Where are you?!?!” She called. I heard another twig snap, I twirled to see a black tennis sneaker disappear behind a wide evergreen tree. ”Amanda!” My mom called again. I put back on my shoes, pulled my jacket over my T-shirt, and ran to the opening of the cave. If you walked past the cave, you would never even known it was there. You would have to lift a bunch of thick green vines to even see it. So, I knew my mom would never find me in there, but I couldn’t let her see me coming out.
If you were standing inside the cave you could see through the thick vines but nobody could see you. So I crouched down in front of the vines. I saw my mom leaning against the wall next to the vines, I jumped back when she heard me breathing and looked my way. I leaned against the rock behind me for a while. Then I heard footsteps behind me. The Creep! I could get a good look at him now. I slowly turned around and peered over the rock I had been leaning against. I watched a boy about my age slowly walk towards the opening of the cave, Then he stopped right in front of the rock I was crouched behind, then his body started to change, his auburn hair started to cover his body as mist filled the cave, his body slowly morphed so he was on all fours, then I realized I was the one smothering the cave in mist, I immediately clenched my hands into a fist to stop the mist. The boy looked kind of familiar-not him as a wolf-but he looked very familiar. He then walked right past me. I held my breath and watched. He was a wolf, and his eyes, his eyes were blue with a golden ring around the pupil.
I wasn’t afraid of him; I mean I wasn’t afraid that he was a wolf, because I could do it too. I could change too.
I have been able to do it for about a week now, Ever since I plunged into the water at the water fall for the first time. I remember it like it was last week, well, it was last week. I got home from school and my mom got mad at me for not doing my homework the day before, apparently my teacher gave her a call. She started to yell at me when I was getting mad at my teacher. She told me that I need to be more responsible, she’s the one that usually reminds me. But the one day I actually had homework she forgot. Anyways, then I stormed out the house and ran for the woods. I got tired so I leaned against a vine covered rock, when I switched my position, I fell into the cave.
I saw daylight at the end of the tunnel, and heard water running, so I walked through the tunnel towards the day light. That’s when I saw the waterfall. It was beautiful. The crystal clear river seemed to just crawl to the cliff and gracefully drop into the pond below. It was surrounded by light mist which sent rainbows cascading around the pond, and that’s when I lost my footing.
I plummeted towards the pond, I was terrified, I assumed that the pond would be shallow, and this would be the end. I watched the water get closer and closer when… plop! I hit the water with a splash. I was facing the daylight as I slowly sank to the bottom of the pond, it wasn’t shallow at all, and there were no sharp rocks like I had assumed. I watched my surrounding’s as I slowly sank to the bottom of the deep pond. There were beautiful, colorful fish all around me.

I was suddenly awakened from my day dream as the brown wolf stepped closer to my rock. As he walked closer I crept around the rock so he couldn’t see me. He looked out of the vines, and then stepped out. I watched as his tail disappeared through the vines and my day dream slowly, seemingly cautious, came back into my mind.
I touched the bottom of the pond. Some sand softly drifted upwards for a moment then came sinking back down to me. Everything was so calm, so quiet, I wished I could stay there like that forever, But I needed air, now. I swam up as fast as I could, and broke through the surface of the crystal glass water. I was surrounded by a light beautiful mist, and Rainbows! Strangely, there were flowers growing at the base of a beautiful willow tree. I pulled my wet body to shore and just watched the willow tree’s branches sweep across the pond and send ripples cascading through the pond. I suddenly realized the thirst in my throat, I leaned over, cupped my hands and dipped them into the cool beautiful water. I then lifted them from the water and raised it to my mouth. I felt the cool, refreshing water touch the tip of my tong and then drizzle down my throat quenching my thirst as it went.
