Before you read TIBBY, i figured I'd clear up some key points you'll come across in the poem.
1.) TIBERIUS JAMES is Tibby's full name but we often call him Captain. Thats a fun story actually! But ill get to that in a bit.
2.) KGB Kitty is referring to Tibby's sister, Valentia. My brother calls her KGB because she is such an acrobat but she's also so mischievous. So why not another name? Because Valentina is a Russian Blue and KGB is Russia's version of the CIA. And i added the KITTY bit because otherwise it wouldnt have sounded right. And Valentina belongs to my brother so he gets naming rights.
3.) Okay, now that the business is out of the way, wanna hear why we call Tibby so many names? great!
Tibby is a fighter. He's always fought to the best of his ability no matter what his opponent was. So his personality reminded me a bit of Captain James Tiberius Kirk from Star Trek. See where this is going? But it suits him perfectly because Tibby is also pure black with a star of white on his chest and he has gold eyes. He's also very intelligent and I'm told he dominates the local block's band of cats so he's a leader. Im so proud of him! And when i think of how small and sick he was when he was a kitten...he is the runt of the litter and because his mother was sick and could barely feed herself, he couldnt get hte nutrition he needed and his chances of survival dropped to slim. i fell in love with him on sight. He was small and practically a skeleton but he had a fire in his eyes so i couldnt help but take him home. I fed him KMR excessively for several weeks and he grew up, up, up. It makes me sad he isnt a kitten anymore becuase he was SOOO adorable but im glad hes alive and doing so well. He's a great cat and he deserves to live. So, this one's for you, Tibby! Live long and prosper!
(yes, i know thats Spock...just couldnt help but add it. Its so true!)
There once was a cat
Fearless and Proud
But he wasn’t always like that
Once he was small and a coward
Being the runt of the litter he had many disadvantages
Like his size and weakness
His sister is a cat
Ruthless and Strong
She loved to terrorize him
Even when he cried
She did it all day
Even when it rained
Then I came along and messed it all up
He grew up, up, up
She didn’t
He got strong
She didn’t
They fought and fought until the day
She cried and ran away
Tibby is now the King
And Valentina is the evicted Queen
Tiberius James, you live up to your name
While KGB Kitty is filled with shame
There once was a cat
Ruthless and Proud
He’ll always be like that
No longer small and a coward
Sasi the pup was a scared little pup
She jumped at everything
Even the toys
But it’s just the boys
What we didn’t know is she isn’t just an easy scare
She’s a leader
Not a bat
She’s a mother
Definitely not a cat
But I love her and that’s that
She's three years now
No longer a pup
And everyone knows
No one can scare her now
Even the boys
Of all the creatures that live in the sky and sea
None are more beautiful to see
Or so some say
But each one is as different as night and day
Their colors range from black to white and every color to be found
But this isn’t the reason why so many stories are around
No other creature is as majestic
Or holds such power over the magic
Of the land, sky and sea
Working in harmony
So listen to me and you will see
Why no other animal can compare
To the masters of the air
Where all others are lacking
So he is the king
For the land, air and sea
All belong to he
He pulls the wagon
That every other beast rides
For the master is the Dragon
Of land, air and sea
I knwo there are two poems titled 'Sasi'. My teacher told us to write one poem one day and then revise and lengthen it the next so thats what i did and SASI REVISED is the revised version. hope you like it! its personally my favorite of the two. it explains my dog so much better than the original.
Sasi the pup isn’t just a pup
She’s made up of many other pieces
Like her intelligence
Her speed
Her playfulness
Her energy
These are well and nice
They help Sasi be herself, not an ordinary pup
But there’s more behind her puppyness
She’s a lover, a giver, a mother
She’s got a temper but I love her
All of these things are Sasi’s but they aren’t all of her
There’s her fur, golden and red, and her eyes are alight with the golden hue of a yellow diamond
These are what make her Sasi, and these are why I love her
Can you see
it?
Can you see the wind blowing through the tall grass and the trees?
See the light shining upon all, making them brighter and more vibrant?
See the ocean blue cresting onto shore, the tips foaming and white?
Can you see the volcano, awake and angry, spouting its red liquid that consumes all?
See the snow-covered expanses of the poles, its animals painted white?
Can you see
it?
Can you feel
it?
Can you feel the grass, green and soft, as it runs between your fingers?
Feel the heat of the desert in summertime, burning you from the inside out?
Feel the coolness of the water in the mountain spring running over your body as you dive in?
Feel the softness of your bed and then the sharp pain of the floor when you’re so surprised you fall from your mattress?
Can you feel
it?
Can you taste
it?
Can you taste the sweetness of your favorite candy followed by the sharp flavors of the citrus fruits in your soda?
Taste the flavors of our mother’s cooking?
Taste the scents of your favorite snack?
Can you taste
it?
Can you hear
it?
Can you hear the birds singing softly in the trees?
Hear the wolves’ pretty harmonies?
Hear the children laughing as they play?
Hear the spooky music during a scary movie?
Hear the sounds of the ocean’s waves crashing, the seagull’s cries and the wind blowing gently through the house?
Hear the choir singing fluidly and beautifully?
Can you hear
it?
Can you sense it?
Water
Cool, fluid, graceful, swift and silent
But then cold, harsh, rough and loud
Yet still soft, soothing and sweet
Snow
Soft, peaceful, clean and new
Then hiding something invisible, hard and slippery
Yet still cold but appealing to the senses
Magma
Hot, destructive and dangerous
Nothing seems good about it
Until you see it
Beautiful in color with a fiery temper, the stubbornness of the Scots and the mules, and its destructive nature all make it intriguing.
Love and Conflict
Two words
Total opposites
One makes a couple happy to be alive
The other can tear life apart
Yet these two elements make life and a book better together than ever before apart
Love
The everlasting flame
The thing that everyone yearns for
Even dreams about
The thing that can make one eternally happy
On its own, it’s a great story and it leaves you with happiness
Conflict
The ice cold blade that tears asunder with no regard
It threatens happiness happily
It’s something we live with everyday
War
Internal questions
Breakfast choices
The way to work
The secrets to tell that special someone
Two polar opposites Love and Conflict
So why do they work so well together?
