“What do you want us to do about the boy?” I asked, playing with the hem of my dress. I felt his cold eyes on me but I didn’t dare look up.
“Get what we came for, Ace,” he answered. I could hear the hatred and impatience in his voice.
“Stop calling me Ace,” I said, rising from my seat and heading down the steep stairs leading to the basement. The lights were off which isn’t how I left them. I couldn’t help but laugh at the boy for thinking he could even try to escape.
“Marco!” I called out in the dark room.
“Polo,” the boy growled from behind me. His fist was two inches from the back of my head before I grabbed it and pulled his fragile body over my head.
“I love these little games but time is of the essence. I need you to tell me what I want to know. Then maybe, just maybe, I will let you go.” He was clutching his right shoulder that I probably dislocated.
“What do you want?” he asked, glaring up at me.
“When was the last time you seen Megan?” I asked him.
“A week ago,” he answered. “She was at the bar not far from where you grabbed me up.”
“Do you know why she was there?” I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.
“At first it looked like she was just having a good night out but then three guys walked in and she became all business.”
“Was she with anyone else besides three guys?” I asked.
“Yeah, she was with some chick that goes by the name Violet.”
“Who did she leave with?”
“She left with the chick.”
“Do you know where I can find this Violet?” I asked.
“Yeah, she hangs out at that bar every night so she’s probably there,” he answered.
“You come in handy,” I said, dropping my hands to my sides.
“Can you please let me go?” he begged.
“I’m sorry but I just might need you again,” I said, chuckling. He cursed under his breath as I turned and walked up the stairs, closing the door behind me.
“What have we learned Ace?” Damon asked. His voice was still hard, cold and full of hatred.
“I thought we learned that my name isn’t Ace,” I replied, my voice just as cold as his.
“I’m sorry. What’s your real name again? Patricia? Patty?” He asked.
“Go screw yourself,” I said.
“You first,” he replied, getting up from the chair he sat in. “What did he tell you?”
“We have to look for a girl name Violet. She was the last one with Megan but for she disappeared.”
“So let’s go,” he said, heading for the door.
“You’re not going,” I said, without moving.
“What did you just say?” He asked. I think that I really just pissed him off.
“You heard me,” I said, glaring at him.
“Are you losing your mind? No one gives me orders. Ever,” he said, coming to stand over me.
“You heard what I said Damon,” I said. I tried to move around him but he was faster and in a second he was in front of me again.
“Who do you think you are?” he asked.
“To you, maybe I’m a monster or whatever it is you call me behind my back. But to me, I’m someone trying to find her sister.” I said, looking down at the floor. “I obviously can’t stop you but don’t get in my way.”
We didn’t say anything to each other getting in my car. After a while he cleared his throat loudly but I ignored it. He cleared it again but louder this time.
“What?” I asked.
“Do you really believe that I call you things behind your back?” he asked, a hint of a smirk played at the corners of his lips.
“I don’t really care what you think or say Damon,” I said focusing more on the road than actually necessary.
“Well, I don’t,” he said, looking out the passenger window.
“It really doesn’t matter,” I said, tightening my grip on the steering wheel.
“It does matter. I should have been a little nicer to you. You are my bosses’ daughter” he muttered.
“You don’t have to be nice to me and I’m hardly his daughter,” I said, gripping the steering wheel hard.
“What do you mean by that?” he asked. I was a bit surprised there wasn’t any hatred in his voice.
“My mother was fourteen when your ‘boss’ raped her. Everyone thought she was crazy when she kept saying that a monster had raped her. Everyone thought she was insane. Even me. They eventually took me away from her and put her in a mental hospital. Me, I was pushed from foster care to foster care.
“When I was sixteen the strangest thing happen to me. I was hanging out with a group of guys. My boyfriend was there but he was totally wasted. I didn’t live to far from where we hung out so he offered to walk me home. He was so drunk. He didn’t know what he was doing but he grabbed me. I cried out in pain. All I know after that is his limb body in my arms. It was an accident. Then I learned what I was.”
It was silent for a second and my grip never loosened around the steering wheel. I could see the marks of my fingers form in to it. I took a deep breath and focused on the road.
“That’s terrible. She was only fourteen,” he said, grabbing the dashboard.
“She never regrets having me though,” I said, loosening my grip a little.
“I’m sorry,” he mumbled.
“I don’t want your sympathy,” I whispered. I stepped on the brakes causing it to come to complete stop. I was the first one out the car. But it didn’t take long before Damon was at my side.
“What about your sister?” he asked.
“She was different. From what I was told, he married her mom. After her mother gave birth, he took Megan from her. He threatened her life if he she told anyone.”
“Why would he do this?” Demon asked.
“He did this because one of his children is supposed to carry a gift. A gift that could save the world. Or destroy it.”
“Is that why Megan was kidnapped?” Damon asked.
“Yes. But she isn’t the one with the gift,” I said. I stopped walking and showed him my hands. I felt them get warm and they began to glow. He reached to touch my hand but I pulled back.
“That’s how that boy got killed. Because I didn’t know how to control or what it is,” I said. He began to reach again and this time I didn’t move. He touched my hand and I began gasping for air. As he held my hand, I learned. I saw every pain he ever had, every tear he ever shed, every lie he ever told, and every kill he ever made. I cried out and snatched my hand away.
“What just happened to you?” Damon asked, worry in his eyes.
“Everything that’s ever happened to you,” I answered weakly. I took a deep breath and began walking in the direction of the bar. Damon never followed me into the bar and I was more than glad he didn’t.

I entered the bar and went straight toward a familiar face. The bartender that I used to hang out with was pouring a drink for a man that looked well past his forties. He looked up and a shocked expression formed on his face. I smiled at him and sat at the counter.
“Hey Sammy,” I said. He looked at me without blinking for a few seconds.
`“What’s up Drucilla?” Sammy asked, beginning to wipe down the counters.
“I haven’t seen you in a while,” I said, watching him closely. “I decided to stop by."
“You’re lying,” he said. A man sat a few seats down from me and nodded at Sammy. Sammy nodded back and then turned on me. “What do you want?”
“Who’s Violet?” I asked.
“She is the one sitting in booth nine. You can’t miss her. She is dressed in all violet,” he said. He stared at me and I stared back. I couldn’t help notice how handsome he has gotten since I last saw a year ago.
“Thanks Sammy,” I said.
“Whatever,” he said and he began to walk away. I reached over the counter and grabbed his wrist.
“What time do you get off,” I asked. He starred at me like I was insane before he spoke.
“Eleven,” he sighed.
“See you in an hour,” I told him. I felt his eyes on me as I wandered over to booth nine. There was a girl there with three guys. They were chuckling when I approached them.
“Violet, right?” I asked.
“Who’s asking?” she asked, leaning back on the leather seat.
“Drucilla Daniels. Megan’s sister,” I answered. As I spoke, she straightened.
“What do you want?” she asked.
“Right now? A beer but all I really want is my little sister back.”
“What do you want me to do about it?” she asked.
“I was told that you were the new girl in town,” I said. I place my right hand on my hip and smiled evilly down on the girl.
“Go away freak!” she spat. The guys she sat with chuckled and I smiled more.
“You have no idea who you’re dealing with,” I said. I grabbed the front of her shirt and with a small motion of my wrist, threw her across the bar. I heard a few screams and the scrambling of chairs as people rushed out the door. I walked to where she fell. She was in a crouching position and ready to attack.
“Oh, so you’re a mongrel,” I said. She growled and threw herself at me. She missed me by a half a second. I caught a sight of Damon in the back of the bar watching me.
“Do all his daughters play games,” the girl growled.
“They never told us not to play with our food,” I grinned. She sat in the crushed wood of the table and glared at me.
“What do you want,” she asked in defeat.
“I want to know where my sister is,” I said. I sat in a nearby chair and crossed my legs. I played with the ruffled hem of my dress and looked at the girl from behind my bangs.
“My job was to only deliver her to him. I have no idea what he is planning to do with her,” she said.
“By him you mean?” I asked.
“Alexander,” she said. Her voice went cold and so did every part of my body.
“Leave,” I heard Damon’s voice somewhere in front of me. I couldn’t even see my hands on my lap.
“Is she going to be alright?” the girl asked.
“The main question is will you be if you don’t leave,” Damon growled. I heard her footsteps getting further away and two more coming closer.
“She’s is in a shock. This is her worst one yet,” I heard Sammy say to Damon.
“Why do you say that?” Damon asked.
“Because her eye color keeps changing and it would have stopped by now,” he answered.
“Is there a guide book to her?” Damon asked.
“If only,” Sammy sighed.
“By the looks of it, I’d say you fell for her,” Damon said.
“I was just going to tell you the same,” Sammy said.
“I don’t know what you are talking about,” Damon said coldly.
“You can’t hide it from me. I’m a soul reader so I know how you feel about her,” Sammy said. I could hear the smile in his voice.
“I still don’t know what you’re talking about,” Damon replied.
“Word of advice, don’t count on a happy ending with her. She still believes her life can only be a tragedy,” Sammy said.
“She isn’t the only one,” Damon said.
“That’s also what I sense about you,” Sammy said. “You have an equal amount of despair in you that I find in Drucilla. It’s so depressing.”
“Can you stop being Dr. Phil and help me wake her or something,” Damon said.
“Just kiss her and she will wake up,” Sammy said.
“Are you insane,” Damon yelled.
“No, this use to happen all the time,” Sammy said. “If you don’t, I will.” I heard a sigh and then felt soft lips on mine. They felt light on my lips but they felt like the universe laid itself in front of me. I blinked to find Damon crouched in front of me. He watched me carefully as I stared at him.
“Welcome back,” he said. I stood up from the chair and he straightened himself as well.
“Look at what you’ve done to my bar,” Sammy whined.
“I am sorry Sammy. I guess this is a bad time for us to hang out,” I said.
“She’s back alright,” Sammy said.
“What is that suppose to mean?” I asked.
“What are you going to do about Megan?”Sammy asked instead.
“What choice do I have but to confront Alexander?” I asked.
“I don’t know. Maybe live,” Sammy screamed.
“I won’t let her die Sam,” I said coldly.
“Just wait here,” he said going to the back of the bar. He disappeared in the back room. He came back with a steel box in his hand. It looked heavy in his hands.
“What is that?” Damon asked.
“Something Megan gave me to hold,” He said placing the box on a table.
“Well, what’s in it?” I asked.
“Open it,” he said. I walked up the box and placed my right hand on the top of it. I tried to lift the lid but it was locked.
“Maybe there is a key,” I said. I watched as Damon placed his hand on the box. There was a hissing noise and then the box opened.
“What’s inside?” Sammy asked.
“Guns and knives,” I answered.
“Your family has a weird way of showing love,” Sammy said. I dug through all the weapons to find a note. I opened it slowly and read Megan’s elegant handwriting out loud:
“‘Dear Drucilla, if you’re reading this now, we have come to an end. I planned for this to happen and you shouldn’t try to save me. You will only get hurt. These are our old weapons. I figured you want to have them. Please stay out of trouble. –Megan’” I finished.
“When are we leaving to find her?” Damon asked.
“Right now,” I said. I picked the box up off the table and handed it to Sammy.”Hold this for me.”
“You never listen,” Sammy grumbled.
“Neither do you. You would do the same for Darcy.” I left the bar leaving Sammy stunned and Damon questioning my every action. I waited in the car for Damon to climb in.
“Are you feeling ok?” Damon asked.
“I heard you two,” I said. I turned the key in the ignition.
“Interesting,” he said avoiding my eyes.
“Soul readers never lie unless their hiding for themselves,” I said. I stepped on the gas.
“Where are we going?” he asked.
“I am going to Romania because that is where he has my sister,” I said.
“I am going with you,” he said.
“This is kind of personal,” I said.
“I don’t care,” he said.
“I can’t let you go,” I said. I stepped on the breaks at a red light.
“I guess you’ll just have to stop me then,” He said.
“There is no time for games,” I screamed.
“Then stop arguing and drive,” he said tapping my hand on the steering wheel. I stepped on the gas and sped down the road. “By the way, how exactly did you kill that boy?”
“He wouldn’t let go and my hand began to glow. I touched his face and he began to gasp for air and then he fell to floor. I screamed for two hours before anyone actually came. After he died I had the taste of alcohol but I wasn’t the one drinking. It was like I drained the life from him.” I shuttered and shook my head.
“Maybe that’s what your gift does. It takes life and gives life. You said it yourself that this gift can save the world or destroy it,” he said.
“But what about the fact that I practically relived everything you have been through,” I said making a right turn down a street.
“Yeah, let’s not ever mention what you saw but I guess the gift ties with your emotion. When I touched you, you were probably feeling curious about me. When he touched you, you were feeling fear. The gift reacts with your emotion,” he said. It made sense because I was curious when he reached for my hand a second time.
“Maybe your right,” I said.
“The question is what are you going to do with your gift,” he asked.
“I am going to stay away from my father. I am going to give myself to Alexander and you’re going to keep her safe,” I said.
“You can’t possibly think I am going to leave you with him. I can’t and I won’t!” he shouted.
“In case you haven’t caught on, my sisters life is more of my concern,” I said.
“But your life is mine,” he said.
“Give me a break. We both know you hate me,” I said turning into our hideout which was a little house so happily paid for by my father.
“I don’t hate you,” he said frustrated.
“Even if you don’t I have to go,” I said. I stepped out the car and ran up the porch stairs. I walked up to my room. I grabbed a duffel bag and began stuffing it with clothes. I pulled my passport out of a shoe box that contained pictures of me and Megan.
“Drucilla, you can’t do this,” Damon said standing in my doorway.
“Yes I can and I have to go. She is all I have. She needs me,” I said.
“I need you,” he said.
“I really don’t have time for games,” I said grabbing a handful of clothes out a dresser draw and throwing it into the bag. I opened the back of the picture frame on my nightstand and took the money that was hidden there. It was about twelve hundred dollars but I had seven debit cards.
“This isn’t a game,” he said walking up to me.
“Damon, why are you making this so hard?” I asked.
“I just don’t want you to go,” he said.
“Well I am going,” I said. I zipped the bag and threw it over my shoulder. I walked past him out the door. He ran ahead of me.
“If I tell you the reasons why will you promise that you will think about what you’re doing,” he said blocking the door.
“I’m listening,” I said leaning on the wall.
“Alexander is my brother and he always get’s what he wants. He isn’t after any gift either. He is after you. Megan is just a tool to him. She is just the bait. Your literally the prize.”
“So why not give him what he wants. This is what I knew what would have to happen,” I said crossing my arms over my chest. He walked up to me and starred me in the eyes. He put a hand on my cheek and my arm dropped to my side. “What are you doing?”
“What I should have done a long time ago,” he said. Then his lips were on mine. They were gentle but urgent. He pulled away and I gasped for air.
“Why did you just kiss me?” I asked still catching my breath.
“You said it yourself. A soul reader doesn’t lie. I always loved you,” he said.
“This doesn’t make sense,” I said covering my face with my hands. “All these years you acted liked you hate me. Why?”
“I had to. Alexander would have found you sooner if I didn’t,” he said.
“I am still going Damon,” I said moving my hands from my face.
“No you are not,” he said.
“If it makes this easier for you, I always thought you were cute,” I said. I straightened the bag on my shoulder and walked around him.
“If you go to him I will never see you again,” he said sadly. I stepped around him and headed for the door. There was a bolt of lightning that just missed my head and hit the wall.
“What was that?” I asked, panicking.
“I refuse to let you,” he said.
“It’s not up to you,” I said, dropping my bag on the floor.
“You don’t know what he is. What he can do. What he has done to me,” Damon said. I never saw him like this before. He seemed scared. I walked up to him and put my hand on his shoulder. I let myself be curious about Alexander and was surprised at the images that flowed through my head.
I saw a boy a little older than Damon. A whole bunch of images appeared but it was the last one that made me scream out in pain. Damon was on the floor and Alexander was standing over him. He began kicking at his rib cage and watched as his brother coughed up blood. Damon lip was busted and his clothes were soaked in blood. Alexander raised his hand which began glowing with fire and he touched Damon’s back. I could feel the heat of what Damon was going through and I screamed even louder. I watched as Damon squirmed under his brother’s hot hand.
“Let go Ace,” Damon told me.
“I can’t,” I cried, not able to move. I watched as Damon screamed and screamed but not able to free himself from Alexander. Alexander finally let go but it was too late. Damon was already slipping away. Damon opened his eyes and looked at his brother before he was gone.
“Damon?” I said.
“I’m right here Ace,” he said pulling my hand from his shoulder. I could see the room around me but I was dizzy. I wasn’t surprised when I lost balance and fell to the ground. I couldn’t stop the scream that burst from my mouth.
“It alright,” Damon said, sitting beside me on the floor. I wiped my eyes and looked at the floor tile.
“It was so real. Your pain, your screams. It was terrible,” I sobbed.
“I’m sorry,” he said.
“How long ago?” I asked.
“Only a year. When I told you that your father sent me on a job,” he said. I remember that he went away and he was gone for three weeks.
“Why didn’t you tell me,” I sobbed.
“I was fine,” he said.
“No you weren’t,” I yelled.
“Relax Ace,” he said putting a hand on my shoulder.
“You were in so much pain. I seen it Damon. I felt it,” I sobbed.
“It was nothing. I’m fine,” he said. I gently touched his back and watched him flinch.
“Take your shirt off,” I said, wiping tears from my face.
“No Ace,” he said. I reached behind him and lifted the shirt from over his head. There was a giant red mark in the center of his back. I place my hand on his back thinking only of my sympathy. My hand glowed and I could feel his skin heal under my hand. I moved my hand feeling more dizzy.
“What did you do?” he asked.
“I don’t feel well,” I said. I started rocking and almost fell back when Damon’s arms caught me.
“Time for your nap,” he said. He lifted me off the ground and carried me to my room.
“I don’t have time,” I whispered.
“You’re in no position to argue,” he said.
“No, put me down,” I demanded. He stopped walking and starred at me. He set me on my feet and held my waist till I caught my balance. “Megan needs me. And if I am the cost of my sister’s life, I will never forgive myself.”
“I will get Megan. Please stay here,” he begged.
“I can’t. I have to do this,” I said. My hand began glowing as my anger began rising.
“Your glowing,” Damon said. I looked down and smiled.
“I can feel her. She’s calling me. You said that my emotions are tied to this gift. Well, I feel that her life is in danger. The gift is going to take me to her.” I said, smiling.
“That’s dangerous! The gift weakens you!” he yelled.
“Come here,” I said holding out my glowing hand for him to take. He pushed away my hand and wrapped his arms around my waist.
“I hope you know what you’re doing,” he said.
“I am not doing anything,” I said smiling. I looked at my arm that was now becoming transparent. Damon noticed it to. He began to turn transparent too.
“One of us is going to die and I am going to make sure it isn’t you,” he said seriously.
“I am going to die tonight and there is nothing you can do to stop it,” I said. He looked at me like he was about to protest. “In one way or another, I am going to die. The gift is draining me of my life. Pretty soon I won’t know who I am or who you are but it doesn’t matter as long as I know that Megan is safe.”
He stared at me while we slowly disappeared to a faint blue light. After a few seconds we were flying faster than the speed of light. I didn’t say anything and neither did Damon. We stopped moving and became visible again.
“That was cool,” I said pulling away from him but his grip was too tight.
“Look at where we are,” he said.
“It’s an old garden that’s been cleared out,” I said out loud.
“Look at where your standing,” he said. I looked down at a pool of dried blood under my feet.
“This is the place,” I said.
“That was quite an entrance. I didn’t know you had it in you, little brother” a voice behind Damon spoke. Damon turned and pulled me behind him.
“Alexander, there is so much you have to learn” Damon said coldly.
“I don’t believe we have officially met,” he said to me.
“No we haven’t,” I said.
“I’m Alexander,” he said.
“I caught on,” I said. “I believe you have something that I want.”
“She thought you weren’t going to come for her,” he said walking toward us. “She almost looks like you but you have a few features that she lacks. Like your eyes, they don’t have that spark in them. And your lips are so full. Your body is a completely different story.”
“How about a trade. Me for my sister,” I said.
“Do you know what you’re asking for?” he asked.
“No Alexander. I know what you’re asking for,” I said.
“Bring the girl out,” he said looking behind me.
“Yes sir,” I heard a voice behind me say.
“Come here Drucilla,” he demanded. I stepped from behind Damon who reached for my wrist but I pulled away. Alexander’s held his hand out for me and I grabbed it. His hand was still hot as if he was holding father. I hissed at the pain.
“Drucilla!!”Megan’s voice exploded from behind me.
“Go with Damon Megan,” I said to her.
“No!!!” she screamed and ran toward me. Damon caught her halfway there. Alexander’s arm wrapped around my waist tightly.
“Kill them,” he commanded.
“No!!!” I screamed. I flame built in a circle around him. I saw the knife in his jacket and grabbed it. I shove the knife deeply into my own stomach. “If they die, so will I.”
“Don’t kill them!” Alexander yelled. The flames died and I saw Megan running to me. Damon was at my side before her.
“Get her out of here,” I said. He wasn’t listening. He touched the knife that was sticking out of me. I gasped in pain. He grabbed it and yanked it out of me. I cried out loud.
“Hang on Ace,” he said. I couldn’t make out what was happening. I was suddenly in Damon’s arms and he was crying. Megan was there and she was wiping tears from my face. I lifted both of my hand and reached for one of theirs. I squeezed their hand and made mines glow for a second. “What was that? What did you just do?”
I rolled out of his arms and on to the ground. I was losing a lot of blood. I pulled myself on my feet. I put a hand on my wound and held it tight. I turned to face him.
“I sent you guys home,” I said.
“Why?” Megan sobbed.
“I will come back for you Megan,” I told her.
“Your just saying that,” Megan said.
“Trust me,” I said touching her face.
“We have to go Megan,” Damon said coldly.
“Why aren’t you saying something? You love her but you’re not saying anything,” Megan screamed.
“This is out of his power,” I said watching as they became transparent. I turned to Damon and stared at him. He tried to avoid my eyes but I grabbed his face in my hand. He was forced to look me in the eye. He was almost completely gone.
“Keep her safe,” I said. Then a rush of images ran through my head. It was me telling jokes and smiling at a picnic a few months ago. Of me when I stabbed myself in the stomach. The pain in his heart at what I did. The moment he kissed me.
“Will you come save me?” he asked.
“I won’t rest until I do,” I said. I took a weak step back and watched as they disappeared.
“You’re dying aren’t you?” Alexander said from behind me.
“No Alexander. We all are,” I said.
“I can’t let you die,” he said walking up to me.
“Why do you care if I died?” I asked. I walked toward him. “You nearly killed him. I saw you nearly kill him.”
“You do love him?” he asked.
“Of course I do Alexander. I know what was the risk of me coming out here. That’s why I never told him I loved him. That’s why I sent them away.” I said. I stopped in front of him. “How could you? Your own brother?”
“I did it to save him. He was trying to destroy himself. He couldn’t bring himself to reality. He was in love and had your father’s protection yet he wanted to use his own power against himself. I couldn’t let that happen so we fought but it got out of hand. I got out of hand. I burned him. I didn’t want to hurt him.”Alexander said.
“I need some help. I am losing too much blood,” I said.
“Let me help you,” he said grabbing me and laying me on the ground. “Grab my hand, this may burn.” He put his hot hand on the open skin of my stomach. I felt my skin heating and healing while I covered my mouth trying not to scream.
“Thank you,” I said.
“You can stay here for a few days until you can use your powers,” he said stepping back. I shook my head and tried to sit up.
“I have to go now or they will think that I didn’t make it,” I said.
“I understand. Your sister wasn’t suppose to be taken. You were but I couldn’t change that. I didn’t mean for you to get hurt either.”
“Goodbye Alexander,” I said. He reached for my hand, kissed the back of it and he stepped back. I laid on the floor and watched my body blink twice. I closed my eyes and I felt like I was flying again. I opened my eyes and I was in my room. I sat up and slowly got up from my bed.
“Damon! Megan!” I called. I heard footsteps running toward my room and Megan was there with Damon right behind her. “No hug for the hero?”
“Drucilla!!” Megan said running to my side. “I was so worried.”
“Relax Kiddo,” I said.
“I will leave you two alone,” Megan said leaving the room. I sat down on the bed and patted the space next to me. He walked up to my bed and sat next to me.
“You scared me. I thought I was going to lose you,” he mumbled.
“I saw those flames and reacted without thinking. It was stupid,” I said.
“Yes it was,” he said looking at me.
“I’m sorry Damon,” I said.
“I love you Ace,” he said.
“I love you too,” I replied. His eyes opened in shock. I leaned in to kiss him and he met me halfway. He placed his hand on my waist and held me there. He pulled out of the kiss and pulled me gently on his lap. He cradled me and rocked me.
“Ace, what happened to Alexander?” he asked me.
“He got away,” I said. “But it’s fine. He saved me for you.”
“What do you mean?” he asked.
“He healed my wound,” I said. He lifted my shirt and ran his hand across the scar on my stomach. He kissed my cheek and held me close.
“If you could have anything in the world right now, what would it be?” Damon asked.
“I would really like another kiss,” I said looking up at him. He smiled at me.
“I meant food wise but that’ll work,” he said chuckling. He bent down and kissed me softly on the lips. He tried to pulled away but I grabbed him by the shirt and kissed him more aggressively. I felt him smiling on my lips. My hands were glowing and the next thing I know we were in his room on his floor.
“Why are we in here?” he asked.
“Because I have never seen you room,” I said.
“Well this is it,” he said pulling me from off the floor. I tried standing straight but it hurt too much. I looked around at the big room. There were drawings everywhere. There was one with an angel being hit by lightning. The one next to it was a woman in a cloak rising out of water. The one other that one caught my eye. It was the same angel that got hit by lightning holding a women body. The women body looked lifeless and the angel seemed really depressed. It was the biggest picture there.
“I had no idea,” I said starring at the pictures.
“I want to show you the best one,” he said. He reached behind me a pulled a sketchbook from off the dresser. He flipped it over to the recent drawing. It was me and it looked like I was sleeping.
“Wow. I look so peaceful,” I said running a finger down the page, careful not to make it smudge.
“You’re always peaceful in your sleep,” he said.
“You watch me when I sleep?” I asked.
“No, but you keep falling asleep on the couch so I take you to your room,” he chuckled.
“Oh, I was wondering how I get to my bed at night,” I said.
“I think it’s time for you to go to bed now,” he said. He lifted my body and set me in the middle of his bed. I heard a knock at the door and then Megan was sitting beside me.
“Thank you for coming for me,” she said.
“I told you I always would,” I said putting my hand on her cheek.
“I called dad,” she said.
“Why?” I asked sweetly. I thought you were dying.
“He’s on his way now,” she said.
“I have to go then,” I said. I sat up and hopped off the bed.
“Go where?”Damon asked.
“Away from here. He is going to find out that I have the power and he is going to take me away,” I said.
“When will you be back?” Megan asked.
“Your coming with me,” I said.
“I am?” she asked confused.
“Yes. If I leave without you he might become suspicious of me and hunt me down. If we leave together, he still won’t know who has the gift,” I said.
“Makes sense,” Damon said.
“Do you mind staying here?” I asked Damon.
“Not as long as you come back for me,” he said.
“Thanks Damon,” I said. “Come on Megan. We have to go.”
“I’ll grab your duffel bag,” she said running out the room. She came back a minute later.
“There is a car pulling up in the driveway,” she said.
“Go,” Damon said. I kissed him and grabbed Megan.
“Love you,” I whispered and we were flying at the speed of light.
“Where are we going?” Megan asked.
“Back to Romania,” I said.
“Why?” she said.
“Trust me,” I said. We were back at the courtyard.”Alexander!!!”
“You rang,” he said from behind me. I turned to face him.
“I need your help,” I said.
“You can’t expect me to help you after I tried to kidnap your kid sister,” he said grinning.
“This is important,” I said.
“Fine but this is my final favor Drucilla,” he said.
“Damon would appreciate it,” I said smiling. He grumbled something under his breath. He walked up to me and touched my face.
“You are a cute little one,” he said. “Damon has good taste.”
“Thanks for helping me,” I said pulling my face from his touch.
“Whatever,” he said. He turned away from me and Megan followed me as I followed him.
“This is wrong,” Megan said.
“Just hold on to me,” I whispered.
“I’m scared Drucilla,” Megan whispered.
“So am I Megan. So am I” I said. Looking down we followed Alexander. Neither one of us was prepared for what we found after we were lead in to a giant house. Megan screamed and hid behind me. I fell to my knees. Damon’s bloody body was on the floor at the feet of my father.
“No,” I whimpered.
