Lone Wolf
By: Alyssa Rodway
Many dogs have trodden on this land
For none are without a helping hand
They hunt us for our pelts and young
The birds sing sad songs that have already been sung
By wolves who howl at the moon
Crying for their children who have been killed by harpoon
The sad songs of wolves can be heard from far and near
And the parents of wolf young leer
When their child is taken away
For they are next to scream and lay
Dead, from the hunters shot
They try to kill a big lot
So please, oh please, let a cub’s mother and father
Live for another day, so please don’t bother
To load your shotguns and tranqs
For lots of wolves will give thanks
By the howling at the moon
It will happen very soon
If you think that wolves are yummy
Think about what is in the wolf’s tummy
Probably nothing much
Only grass and weeds and such
If you think that killing is good, share it with the world
But if you despise it, then don’t stay curled
Up in your soft bed
Sit up and use your head
Donate to charities and foundations too
Don’t even think about letting those hunters stop you.
