Secret Door
Chapter 1
Today was an ordinary day. All except for one thing… alright, alright I’ll tell you. But don’t, I mean DON’T tell anybody else. This is a secret worth keeping. Here goes, I FOUND A SECRET DOOR IN THE CLASSROOM! Sorry, was I too loud? Well, anyway Jan and I were looking around the room while the teacher continued on and on with our literacy block. Sometimes she bores me to death. So we were looking around the room and then I spotted a door in the back of the room. I didn’t remember one ever being there before. Where could it lead? I had to find out. So I whispered to Jan, (she sits next to me)”look, over there in the back of the room.” She told me that she didn’t see anything and thought that I was CRAZY! Now I was really curious. Did I have powers? Was I supernatural? I told myself that it wasn’t true over and over again, but I was still curious. I would have to ask some more of my friends to look at the back of the room and see if they saw anything. So I leaned over to Matthew and asked him if he saw anything at the back of the room where obviously someone was hiding something.

Chapter 2

Yet again, Matt can’t see a door either! So I thought I would just forget about it but somehow I knew that I wouldn’t. Now there was a nagging feeling in my head. I really had to find out what was going on. I decided that I would have to sneak back into school after everybody else left. The minutes seemed like hours. When the last bell finally rang, I pretended to race out of the school like all of the other kids. But secretly, I stayed behind one of the plants in the main hall. When I was sure everybody had left, I came out of my hiding place and raced back to the classroom. When I got to the first door, I was afraid to open it. What if giant 8 legged lizards jumped out at me?! What if a big, hairy monster sprang out at me?! I pushed the what-ifs to the back of my head. Slowly and carefully I turned the doorknob. Locked. How could I have been so dumb? No one would leave a door hiding something wide open for the first person who sees it! Suddenly, I realized something. Whatever someone was hiding must be very important.

Chapter 3

I knew I would have to find some way to get in the door. I started my search at the teacher’s desk. My hands started rummaging through the drawers until my fingers touched something metal. I picked it up. I t was a key! My heart started thumping very fast. I started to the door, hoping that the key would solve the mystery. The lock turned, and my heart skipped a beat. What I found in the door is a whole other story.

Chapter 4

My eyes scanned the whole other world as I walked in. It was like a dream come true! Everything I could ever want was hidden in this door, this silly old door! It was as if someone had planted a magical garden of all the good things in my head! I gazed at the roaring waterfall and the H.D. TV’s. There were ds’s, Wii consoles, digital cameras, and animals galore, just to name some. When I trotted further in, all the animals trotted up to me, licking, smiling and having fun. I couldn’t believe my eyes. In the distance, there was a castle that looked inviting. But then I told myself, “ you better get home before it gets too dark”. I would have to explore tomorrow. My mind told me that I shouldn’t tell anyone, not even Jan.
Chapter 5

I made my way over to the bike rack when a thought popped into my head. Why hadn’t my Mom come to look for me if I hadn’t come home? Then I looked around me. Everything was different. There was no grass, now that I looked around. The only building for miles was the school. The school that I had just walked out of. All alone. There was no houses, just hard, crackly dirt. There was a couple trees scattered here and there, but that was all I saw.

Chapter 6

I ran back to the bike rack and hopped onto my bike. My fingers curled around the handlebars, blood pumping. I didn’t know where I was going, I just knew that the secret world was doing something to the real word. When I had been riding for what seemed like hours, I finally realized that there was nowhere else to go except for the school. My feet pedaled until they hurt, I myself was determined to get back to school. As I made my way back to the bike rack, I decided that I would probably now have to live at school until the world went back to the way it was. That is, if it ever did change back.

Chapter 7

That night, I slept over at school and had dinner there too (trust me, the cafeteria food was gross!). I knew that sometime I would have to go into the door again, otherwise I would go crazy! My heart beating, I slowly strolled to my classroom. The door was still there. My hand reached for the doorknob and I walked inside. What I saw came as a surprise.

Chapter 8

The door led to an old broom closet! I closed the door with a slam and waited a couple seconds. Nothing happened. I ran out the door and through the hallway and finally to the front doorway. I yanked the door open, exasperated at what I saw. There was now green, crisp grass and people walking their dogs, doing everything that a regular human would do! There were banks, houses, buildings of all sorts! I couldn’t believe my eyes. I sauntered all around in the newly grown grass. I got to my bike and pedaled to what I knew as home. There were my parents, waiting for me as if nothing had happened. And that’s how the story ends. At least until next time . . . . . . . . .
