As a liberal, I respect conservatives on these pages like David Brooks, Bret
Stephens, and Russ Douthat (although he is sometimes a stretch.) We have
something to learn from such people. I would think that a prime principle for
a conservative would be to demand very convincing evidence for one's positions
and policies, and these three do that. The problem is that today too many
people calling themselves ""conservatives"" reject science, accept nonsense as
fact, and want to impose their religion, which is entirely without evidence,
on everyone else. As examples, their rejection of global warming, their claim
that there is no evidence of collusion, and the bizarre claim that science
""proves"" that ""life starts at conception"
