It was wrong yesterday, too.

The thinking that the history of Easter Island is a parable for our current
situation, while well intentioned, has been questioned in recent years.

The truth is probably some combination of both, and i am definitely not
qualified to judge either way. But worth a listen!
Too often things like this become modern fables that people take up
uncritically- the truth is usually more interesting..
