With all that we now know about the truly harmful effects of playing tackle
football from a young age (the great risk of concussions and repeated, non-
concussiive hits to the head), it is mystifying why any semi-educated parent
would allow his/her child to play a sport (now deemed by no less than Bob
Costas) that undoubtedly causes brain damage. I'll repeat...playing tackle

Costas) that undoubtedly causes brain damage. I'll repeat...playing tackle
football directly results in brain damage. Now the degree of such damage
differs from person to person, but if the example of Aaron Hernandez doesn't
raise the alarm, then the fact that 111 of 112 autopsied brains of former pro
football players found to have CTE should. Would any parent allow his/her
child to repeatedly hit his/her head against a wall every day for three or
four months of the year? That should answer the question.
