My 10th Birthday was first published in Issue No. 7 of Ogma Magazine (Ireland). 

This short fiction tells about a birthday boy. He begins his day sitting on the front porch, waiting, readying himself to go fishing with his grandfather. But his grandfather doesn't arrive. From there, the day turns suddenly bittersweet when it is told to both boy and his mom that he had past. Mother and son choose to spend the remainder of the day in the most improbable but grown up way.
