Harry and the Birdman
Eleven year-old Harry Anderson lost his parents when their wagon went off a bridge and they drowned. Now he lives on the family farm with his older brother Christopher, Alister and Alister's wicked wife Gloria. Their small village is protected by the giant hawks and their riders who live high on Hawk Mountain. Every farm in the village pays a tithe to the Baron and his birdriders for their protection. Sometimes when the family can't make their tithe, the Baron takes a child or teen instead. Children who go up to the mountain never come back and stories, usually bad come down to scare all the children. "If you're not good, you'll be sold to the Baron" is a threat used to scare the children. Gloria wants Harry and Christopher to be gone, so she talks her weak and greedy husband to sell the youngest Anderson brother to the Baron and Harry goes to Hawk Mountain to live. This one little boy changes how things are done on the mountain and saves them all! He finds true love and a wonderful life. It's not quite done, I still have some work on it, but enjoy what I have and please give feedback if you can. Thanks, Trish

giving refuge to people — including immigrants and refugees — who do not have
a home.

It was, in the end, about only one thing: the necessity of loving one
another.""

Trish, trish, trish! Who would've 'thunk' that behind that strange little cover (intentional understatement?) we'd find such an incredible world and characters? Now every time I look at a bird I'll try to communicate with it. The story is just so real and the humor is warm and familar, I was chuckling from the first page. I LOVE IT! Can't wait to finish it! What a rush! Nice!.
