Miracle
The night had finally come. Cara’s contractions were 3 minutes apart. She was thankful that her father had not yet returned from working in the cotton fields. He had no idea that she was with child. She hid it very well with her correct and apron. At age 17 living in this shack UN wed with barley enough food for her and her father to get by. There was no room for a little one she knew she would have to get rid of it right away. As another contraction hit she fell to her knees in pain. She sent the farm boy bow to fetch her best friend daisy she was the only one that knew the truth, the only one she could trust. Just then she felt a warm gush and another contraction this one worse than the others. She grabbed a blanket and headed for the barn.
Daisy arrived and helped her inside. She lit the lanterns and got cara situated on a pile of hay. Her contractions were much closer now and she needed to push. Daisy helped her position her legs and told her to push .Push cara Push! Cara screamed and pushed with all of her might. And another rolling pain hit her belly. Daisy exclaimed push cara push I can’t she replied. You have to I can see the baby’s head push! Cara threw back her head screaming and pushed. The baby came and daisy quickly wrapped her in the blanket that cara had brought from the shack.
The child never cried and her eyes her eyes were as black as coal. She had a birthmark in the shape of a star. Cara started to cry you must get her out of here daisy. Before my father gets home .but where am I to take her? Take her to the church and leave her on the front steps one of the nuns will find her. But cara we can’t just leave her. Daisy just do it damn it if you won’t help me ill do it. So daisy did as her friend asked and took the baby to the church wrapped her in another blanket placed her on the steps and never looked back.
