I can actually visualize the illustrations that might go with this, as a children's book.
Your use of the southern dialect is great...("one quarter shy of a duck"..:).

This story would make an excellent children's book. I can just imagine the illustrations. The storyline is a hoot and the artful use of the language is magical. Some of the grammar and spelling needs editing, but nothing major. Highly recommended reading for the light-at-heart.
