Paul, I am surprised at your response regarding questions on how imports have
replaced domestically manufactured goods. You dismissed the concern about
nearly all goods seeming to come from China with an example of the iPhone
having only 4% of its cost going to China. So, where does the other 96% go?
Its no doubt Malaysia, Viet Nam, India, etc. When people say ""China"" has
taken over manufacturing, they are really just referring to the vast
outsourcing to other countries all over the world, of which China is just the
symbolic example people use.

And then you say that China has the best ""ecology of supporting firms"".
True, but they did not start off with that, the US used to have that ecology.
We let it die off because ""China"" had cheap labor and no environmental
protection, so more phones could be sold, and more profits made, and more
stockholders pleased.

And though we all are concerned about the people in Bangladesh, they have
created their population explosion, and in any event most Americans will cast
their votes in their own best interest, not those of Bangladeshis. I feel that
as an American, I have more responsibility to address the 50,000 annual deaths
to the opioid epidemic, the decline of the working class, the mass
incarceration of African Americans, the worsening distribution of wealth and
other dire problems affecting my fellow citizens before I concern myself with
Bangladesh. We should help them of course, but not at the expense of our own
citizens.

Google Student Achievement by State. It is not a mystery why the states with
the best results are blue, and have well-paid teachers.
It is a matter of respect for education. As long as people in red states vote
on social issues and care more about a woman they don't know having an
abortion than about their children's educations, they will continue to lag
behind.

It’s possible the defense would have used similar photos as “proof” of
insanity. In that case, the prosecution would want to present the photos
themselves in order to better control the context.

I ate lobster almost every day I was there for almost two weeks. I don't

What this seems to prove is that diets don't work. After an entire year, with
immense support, people who started out obese only managed to lose 12 pounds.
And we all know that most of them are likely to add those pounds back, plus
more, once the study and support ends. This is extremely discouraging.

I knew this was coming. After reading about Putin's election ""victory"" I
wondered how long it would take his good buddy Trump to make a further fool of
himself on the world stage, and call (or tweet) to congratulate him. Now we
know.
