Dem. candidates--of every stripe: local, state, national--should do what they
are doing. It appears that they are tending to their own perception of how to
run their campaign. Whatever they are doing exactly, it's working. Dem.'s are
unexpectedly winning--astonishingly in some cases.
So, by all means, do not foist any broadly considered formula on Dem.
candidates. They appear to have the best sense so far of how to run for
office. How will theory help for whether to run right, left, or center? I
don't see it. Leave them alone.
It's conservative Republicans who appear to be saddled with theory and dogma
for politics: running on their issues of anti-abortion and anti-taxes and
hatred of liberals. It looks like the people are getting tired of that. Their
concerns are elsewhere, and that is what Dem. candidates must divine.
They're doing pretty good. Leave them alone.
