Seems I've read this before! I'm certain you made some slight revisions, but even so, it's a great opener as it stands. Anna on her way home under sad circumstances, the "competition" between her Vette and the Mustang (really nice). Phrases like "...sleek shark of a car." are unique and add nice color to the chapter.
Your narrative and flow are excellent.
Anxious to compare it to the rewrite.

I didn't see anything out of place and enjoyed the open chorus of this carefully written set up.
