You can read the first four of the Don's blogs on amazon, by the way, using the look inside feature. I'll say no more at this stage, except that although Cottee is a parody of Quixote, it is also a political and social comment but, I hope, via observation rather than the didactic.

First, I am presuming that this is just a "teaser" for the novel that is to come and, if so, you definitely tickled my funny bone.

As an ex-pat Brit myself, I could definitely relate to the people Don grew up with - the feel of the village - and the atmosphere of those times.

I was a tad confused with what was going on, though. Is this going to be a daily blog, given by "Don", with more to come? Or is it a novel, which will contain dialogue - i.e., more "showing" and less "telling"?

I am not a huge fan of long narratives. I like to dive right into the action - see the interplay between the characters and become involved with them, otherwise I nod off and become bored. You have a fine use of language and expression which might, unfortunately, go over the heads of many readers - so it is important to keep our attention by making us care about all the characters.

This was written with humor and intelligence, leaving me definitely wanting to read more - but, at the same time, had me wondering what you intended this novel to be. Of course I read your "blurb" - which intrigued me, and I look forward to more of this. I just hope you will break it up into more of a "show" than "tell" so that we can become engaged with the characters and connect with them.

A thoughtful and very unique start.
