But Who Was Chopin?

The Beginning Von:
But Who Was Chopin?
Two childhood friends, one a princess, the other a commoner, fall in love as they grow and the years pass. Both die tragically within hours of one another, but transcend the bonds of death, to be re-united centuries later in a distant land.

This is a work-in-progress. The plot will twist and turn until the climax and resolution...

I just finished reading this next part. I lived in San Francisco for a year back in the '80s, and you brought back memories of its character. But what I really wish to do is...STRANGLE you for not writing more! Holy cow, Pat! The beauty of this work keeps increasing! Every new chapter is, appropriately enough, like a new movement in a magnificent piano concerto! I'm a pianist, and can relate to so many aspects of this part of... mehr anzeigen

:) Thanks Judy.
I'm a bit frightened, though! I'm unsure of the neighborhoods in SF, although I've been to that fabulous city as recently as last year (my kids live there). Getting locale right is much more difficult than writing with Denver as my backdrop!!! I know that city... mehr anzeigen

I'm ticked off! I totally missed "This is a work-in-Progress" thingie before I started reading. So, there I am in the middle of this beautiful, romantic tale, anticipating a wonderful resolution--and now I have to wait! It's like watching a great TV series, only to have them nail you with the "to be continued" ending.

As always, beautifully written, Patrick. And, as always, I'm hooked. Now, how long do we have to wait for the... mehr anzeigen

Thanks so much, John. The rest of the story...I set Chopin aside in order to work on One Year again. I think I should JUST GO BACK AND FINISH WHAT I STARTED. I do that a lot...start a story and then wander off somewhere.
Thanks for the thumbs-up:)

Just started reading (okay, and then I read the whole thing) - and I'm wondering why you didn't use the chapter function - it's so much easier to navigate, especially if you're going to make this long. Did you decide not to use it because there is something missing between chapters 1 and "two"? You can always move the chapters around, to be in whatever order you want, later on :) I'm a stickler for eBook formatting, what can... mehr anzeigen

Thanks, Rebecca!

Gyeongbokgung:) I can go in and edit. How the heck did I spell it, lol? I had to Google it initially; must have copied the palace name down badly! I spent hours and hours at Google Earth, looking at the city of Seoul and surrounding areas, then going back in the... mehr anzeigen

Great - well let me know when you update or if you need any help with Seoul details.

Also, if you use the chapter function, you will have an interactive (clickable) table of contents which makes it WAY easier for people to navigate the story (on BookRix and on any eReaders).

Wow... this was really intriguing. I loved the "voice" for the first character. Can't wait to read more... I'm certainly wondering where this is headed... :)

I stop for a quick take out and stuttered to a stop when I saw your link. I argued with myself that time was pressing, but I thought if I don't link now, I'll miss another story and end up buying it instead. Finding you put up a portion, I thought, yes, in and out but noooo ... Here you go writing of a Korean soul in and out of the cosmos and then stop at the keyboard .... Back to your keyboard Fella, and play out the tune... mehr anzeigen

Thanks Paula, lol. I play Chopsticks only moderately well! Hope my characters sound a bit more believable!

You're allowed the keyboard attached to your 'puter ... want to see the next installment.

I am hooked! And I totally agree with Judy. This is one of the BEST things you've written, Patrick. It's one of those things that you think . . . wow, I wish I could write something like this--I wish I had half the talent. Your gift for words breaks through in this one and the story itself leaps from the pages. Get to work, sir! You definitely need to bet busy and write more.

I read this as I was drinking a cup of Sakura Allure flavored green tea. It was a moment of mulit-leveled perfection. This is probably one of the best things of yours that I've read, and I sincerely hope you continue it. Your prose...perfect. Your concept...masterful. I'm blown away - your talent just keeps growing, Pat. Thank you for sharing this work of art with us "commoners." You've made a lovely Mother's Day into a... mehr anzeigen

Oh my gosh! Judy, I've been so afraid it was the WORST thing I've written. Honestly. Thanks, dear:) You have no idea what your comment means to me! I'll finish it (ugh, it's been hard so far!).

Review is coming:)

Jeesh. If this is your worst, I'm going to quit writing... "D

This was beautiful...I wasn't able to stop turning the page, especially when the love between the princess and the beggar unfurled. I love the idea of a lost and travelling soul and the imagery you give is breath taking. I especially loved the line about the heaven and the trillion galaxies.
Please add more soon.

I read one of your stories & think I love this one. Then I read another & I think, 'No this is my favorite'. And so it goes on and on.
You have me hooked, Pat.
