A thought provoking presentation and well researched, I'm sure. I certainly saw no errors and found it an easy read. I have a heart for you. Thank you for sharing.

Sometimes it's hard for me to read narratives like this. I'm a bit shallow in the sense i like a story to have more dialogue, however I found this an interesting read. I certainly liked the message you conveyed and how it fits into the theme of social injustice like a glove.
Good job. A worthy contender.

Thank you so much...

The colors you both bring to my happiness transcend any early shades.

Thanks for that.

From being drawn and quartered in the eighteenth century to lynchings in the twentieth, progress was slow. We've come a long way since those days. This was a well-written, straight-forward narrative, Barry. And I like the ending - it gave us food for thought that transcends something so simple, and yet dramatic, as skin color. Barry,

You have written a very intense and touching book about war. I really like the way you pulled the story together along with its characters.

Excellent writing! :)

A well-researched piece of writing, spoken in the tone and dialect of the era. You bring the plight of the benighted slaves to light from the perspective of a white man very well. Good job.

Well narrated. I could almost see and feel the horrors in having to live in those strenuous times.

piece though I wondered what he had done to deserve such a fate. It seems that this slave was a little educated as denoted by the broken fingers not allowing him to write about his own demise. I cannot say I enjoyed it because of the sunject matter, but I liked the approach to the subject. Evelyn

an enigma albeit with a painful [I know] injury, while the two others served their purpose and received their rewards.

The first Night came to an awful but not unheard of end.

Good snapshot into this ongoing war that should not be.
