I can tell that when you wrote this book there was a lot of love and honesty in your heart. It is a very touching story. And I loved the book. It was written very well and, out of all the books that I have read by you, so far this is my favorite.:)

There is a down-to-earth honesty in this little piece that moved me quite deeply. An admission and final purpose that heretofore I knew little, if nothing, of. My hat is off to you, Barry. Your humanity and devotion shined through in clear, concise, and powerful writing.

The only thing I think you chould change is at the beginning. I believe that if you subbed "a misty fog" with "the misty fog", that first sentence would be perfect. Hmm, but either way is really ok, after reading it again ;)

Although I've never met you outside of BR I consider you one of my nices friends and agree with every word Val says.

I believe you wrote this a while back because I have read it before, Barry. I was touched then as I am now. Being your friend in those days, I know the joy JohnAngelo brought you and Fabiana, and how his birth brought new meaning to your life. He was and is a special young man, with a very fine intellect...just like his father.

Sometimes life does not work out as we had hoped or planned. Our careers may not bring us wealth or prestige...we may not even have careers! You have suffered great disappointments in your life, which is plain to see from your posts and writing...and from me knowing you personally.

But in the end, none of it really matters. Will anyone remember how much money you made, or did not, when you die? Will your sons tell their children about daddy's amazing job or his lack of one? No. They will tell their children about the love they received...the funny things daddy did...the way he hugged and kissed them...and their mother. Those are the memories they will retain for all their lives. To them, you are a hero. You are their father. Money, fame, prestige --- none of that matters compared to a father's love.

Being a loving father and husband seems to be the most important contribution in your life, and you have done it well. You have two sons who adore you and who will remember everything you ever did for them...no matter how small. If we can only do one important thing in our lifetime, bringing up a child has to rank up there as #1. You are a #1 father and for that you should be proud. I know I am proud of you.
