Years ago, one of my ""friends"" made fun of me for not being on Facebook. She
said everyone was there and I was missing out on so much. Also she said it in
a very condescending way, as if I was some sort of clueless person who did not
want to ""socialize""
Contrary to her short sighted thinking, my most cherished friends have found
ways to contact me, and I cherish those friendships, without the middle man
called FB.
Also, might I add that my aforementioned ""friend"" are not in touch any more.
Also this article makes me feel vindicated that my original line of thought
was correct and that digital friends can never take the place of true friends.

This administration seems especially good at ignoring empirical research. We
have several reports suggesting that African American boys and girls are
perceived as being older than their actual ages, more knowledgeable about
adult topics, and (this is the kicker) generally ""less innocent"" than their
white counterparts. These biases are implicit and shape not only the
individual actions of educators and administrators, but schools' formal
policies and informal cultures.
