It would be nice if the Times, provided the full reference for studies such as
this, so that one could easily and fully evaluate the study in question. This
article reports the effect of bright light on melatonin secretion, but does
not report the results on actual sleep times or suppression of sleep. Sleep is
the relevant endpoint here. Melatonin is an intermediate biomarker. Even if
the results on sleep suppression are not statistically significant, (perhaps
because of low sample size) a look a the point estimates could tell us if the
underlying hypothesis was supported. The results, as reported here, are just a
teaser for an original report which has not been given a full address.

The driver has claimed she had a seizure. She apparently has MS and has
previously had at least one heart attack, plus multiple strokes and seizures.
I believe I read that in the NY Daily News.
