In the not too distant past, it was an honor to serve in the White House.
Today, not so much. Yes, a staffer can look forward to interviews, but they
may be with the FBI and Special Counsel. As for as perks, a free fast ride on
Air Force One may not be enough considering the downside of a costly slow ride
to recoup a life after dismissal or resignation. On top of the huge number of
departures, John Kelly, Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, Gary Cohn, and Jeff
Sessions are all targets for future exits. The pool of possible replacements
is diminishing rapidly as the prospective talent for the open positions
realizes that they may end their careers rather than further them by serving
Trump. If a person is smart enough to want to serve the country in the White
House, that person must realize that service in the Trump White House is the
wrong way to do it.
